Looking for the best budget weapons to kill geared players without breaking the bank? Look no further than this guide where we will be going through the most effective PvP guns for the value minded PMC.
There is a vast array of weapons and ammo in Tarkov, which can be overwhelming as a beginner, and is still complicated as an intermediate player. Today we'll take a step back and distil the essence of what we need from our weapon to score enemy kills, whilst keeping our loadouts cheap and simple.
As always in EFT - gun's don't kill people, bullets do! The best resource for newer players in my opinion is NoFoodAfterMidnight's round chart on the Tarkov Wiki, which we'll be using extensively:

I think that as of late, the .366-AP-round deserves a mention as well, even if the ammo price is high.

I've had distance/accuracy issues with it but I need to use it a lot more to come to any firm conclusions. When I get around to it, I might make something specifically on it!

@@matmanplays3613 Definitely not when you can build a decent vpo for the price of a base svd and this gives you access to dirt cheap 30 round mags. Also, 366 ap one taps thorax through level 4 armor

Marksman24444 the ap rounds are just too slow, doesn’t help that it costs too much for what it’s worth to make a gun accurate enough to shoot them where you’re pointing

Now that the hunter has a suppressor its my go-to budget sniper, it used to be the OP-SKS but the hunter is so much cheaper and has better ammo. However, the Vepr KM / VPO-136 chambered in 7.62x39 is definetly the overall budget king for me, ~14k rubles and since PS ammo is decent and the mags are cheap too, its also very versatile since you can slam on any AK attachments. I've used them for both sniping and close quarters and its an amazing and underrated gun for sure! Oh, and they always come back on insurance!

Love the video one thing I would have added is the viability of shotguns with flechette. Flechette has high pen, armor damage to shred armor, and 8x25 damage with a spread that makes headshots super easy. The buckshots like 8.5 and 7mm both are also viable for headshots but their low pen definitely makes them less viable for pvp

I did actually do a mix of ap and flechette but overall I found that I was more effective with ap, however I think if you're good at headshots its probably the way to go!

Just a tip for the MP7: I like to run one 40 rounder full of AP SX and 2x 30 rounders full of Subsonic SX.

Man I love the subsonic rounds, this is a good way to go imo. You can keep refilling the 40, same as with other guns that can take a big drum, just keep refilling and have one or two other mags in case you need a quick reload

Great video - the Vepr Hunter is really great IMO. i've gone in naked with a vepr and a dream oin woods and left after killing Shturman, his buddies and half the server. It's class.

One tip for shotguns: BSG stealth-buffed the Saiga12g (and TOZ^^) about a month ago by decreasing the pellet spread significantly! That means AP-20s may be more accurate now, but for sure the spread on something like Magnum Buckshot is way better than before...

I never use shotguns usually, but I've fallen in love with the saiga ap-20 combo. It's so damn powerfull even good upto 100 meters now

It won't one shot level 5, I will give you that. But the second shot should have a pretty high chance of killing them due to armour damage - don't think any round kills in one shot vs level 5 any more, that includes 7n1

adars can be bought for roughly 13k from skier ll3 using the recbat trade so you can get a semi auto 556.45 gun for less than 20k. you can also turn an adar into an m4 via the reciever but you will be less likely to get it back in insurance

Great video! Something I like to use for budget is the dt-mdr Its a nice budget way to run m855a1 With a cqb muzzle and a Mlok grip it’s insanely cheap and decent. Main flaw is the rpm is slower then a m4 but if u get used to it it’s great

I guess the lower rpm helps with recoil. It's not a gun I've gotten on with particularly, but I do like the 308 version!

with the TT01 on the hunter you can also run a dovtail optic and still be able to use small sights like the buris, until we get the option to look under for the the iron sights (planned feature), this is the only way to run a red dot and magnified sight unless you use something like the NC star scope, Bravo, elcan (irons on top and toggle for 1x) or acog with RMR/backup top iron sights

Surprised you didn't put the 209 with AP rounds with the Special category - its definitely a budget class material - 1 shot to kill chest with 30 round mag - with a cheap suppressor option is amazing

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not convinced either way yet on the 366 ap, but with the rounds at mechanic 3 I tried to stay away from too high a level req (most of these are 10-20 region, other than the m4 obviously but people can always use an ak). By the time you get to mech 3 I feel like you have better options or know what you like a bit better. But do I agree its like a better version of the hunter at that stage, however I haven't extensively tested the huge accuracy debuff it gets, and the recoil is pretty insane? Given its so specialised I might do a video specifically on it, once I've used it a bit more and come to some firm conclusions :)

For a lot of the ammo, you need to take into account that the reasonable prices for them are from the traders, not Flea Market. For people like me at level 16, I've got no hope of maxing out traders or probably even getting to level 3 before the next wipe. I ignore ARs and the MP7 because the ammo is so ridiculously expensive on FM (I could afford subsonic 4.6mm but meh). AKs are my mainstay because BT is affordable enough, and 308s are OK too with M80 (VEPR Hunter). Just looked at 9x39mm prices and damn, SP-5/6 are actually affordable. The 20 round mags aren't the greatest but dang I might have to try that out.

Yeah maybe give them a go! Btw I actually really like subsonic, what it lacks in pen it makes up for in rpm. Seems to take down people pretty well on factory for example, but it's a bit challenged at longer ranges due to the drop.

I know this video is 3 months old, but you should note that the 7bT1 tracer rounds for the 7.62x54R caliber are a solid choice since they mitigate recoil as opposed to SNB, which adds recoil to an already recoil heavy weapon, especially if you arent modding the SVD out. if you can buy them from the dealers it is definitely worth using.

Saiga 12 with a Monster Claw muzzlebrake, Side Mounted Kobra and 10-round mags(Use an Alpha Rig). Ultimate Insurance Fraud. 6x3 gun that won't fold. You need to take the mag, muzzle brake and optic off/out to make it a 4x2 folded and none of the pieces cost enough for anyone to bother. Therefore they pass on the gun completely, because they don't want to fill their backpack up instantly by picking it up.

Brilliant vid man. Have to day I've been loving Adars early game. If you find the barter trade for them then the ring mount/scope combo from jager and low profile gas block from mechanic is a pretty cheap option to get a lot of the scav kill quests done, in my experience. Love that gun, honestly the staple of my early game alongside the AKMS. My favourite is the axion Scope mount + laser + acog, its so funny. I actually killed Schturman with a hunter, so it's definitely a beast haha!

My favourite trick is to just slot 10 in at the top and PS underneath. Gives your opening volley a bit of oomph, and if you take 3 mags you only lose 30 if you die. Keep some in your secure so you can top load it after a fight!

the probleme with the mp5 is the accuracy, for a 50 round mag dump at 50 meters which is kinda close, you may only hit 6 of does rounds because of the shitty accuracy of the barrel even if the whole time you had your sight on the target

My budget builds are custom named by me as my rich builds, usually taking a total budget of 40-60k, with anything over 100k being streamer money for me. I had 8 million once at the end of 12.12, like literally the third to last week right before all the events. That lasted 4 raids and I made zero profit. M4A1 with 23 recoil is fun but not when it’s chambered in M855A1. It’s basically an airsoft gun at that point. Pro tip from my experience: don’t expect to have a positive KD if it took you the whole wipe to get trader level 2 on peacekeeper, mechanic, therapist, and jaeger only. I need assistance homies

Maybe it's quite new, but there's a stock for the Hunter available from Jaeger LL2 for 5500 rbl. It's a straight upgrade for recoil and ergo. Ive been running this with a dovetail OKP. Even with M80, I'm finding it easy to hurt the enemy badly enough to either kill or injure them to the point where they head for cover. Gives me options. I'm also carrying an APS as a cheap last ditch gun. I find those for like 7-8k each at times. Been having some disgustingly good raids. Ill try the others you've mentioned. For me, this wipe has been about building my courage to get killed. I actually find myself doing well against the panic sprayers with my preference for aimed shots. I'm enjoying my second wipe so much more because of the perspective gained from my first.

Well now that we're in 2021 we can add the new TOZ to the shotgun category here because that gun is absolutely absurd with shrapnel rounds. You definitely wont get it back in insurance, but if you do the prapor tasks to buy it off him it's like 45K instead of the 90-100K on the flea. Only investment is really ammo. But the better shrapnel shells you also get from having traders leveled up.

I would add the two vpos chambered in .366. they have a bad rep from before 12.7 but with the addition of .366 ap they are my go to budget guns. +suppressors are dirt cheap

Personal opinion, ADAR best budget gun, I run a gasblock, a muzzel and a small reflex. in total its around 30k ish, you can pick up and adar off a easy scav run or rec bat trade, rec bat goes for around 13k on the flea

If you get an adar from a SCAV you should disassemble it and buy a lower reciever from skier. Then put all the parts on the new reciever and you have a 100 durability adar for 7k

dude i honestly dont have a problem even using pst gzh the fire rate its melts faces, and if i do run into someone with an altyn or killa helmet i can just switch to the legs and still feel confindent in those fights, easily one of the best budget guns, ive even started running it with a sniper instead of a handgun

Kind of - it's just not really budget any more. Still kicks ass, but VSS are like 70-80k and VALs are 90-100k stock. SP6 is 700r per shot and the pen was nerfed a bit so SP5 only has 35 pen now. My biggest issue with these guns however continues to be the cost of 30 round mags at 40k EACH - with a fire rate of 900 its crazy to me to run it with 20 rounders. put a pp19 grip on the AK, its super cheap and adds a decent amount of ergo to the gun.

Thanks for the suggestion! The base ak grip gives 5 ergo though, so I'm just not sure if I'd notice the extra 2 given the pp19 grip only has +7. If we're talking hyper value then every 1k must be saved 😅

Definitely possible, depends on who you have unlocked at what level. The hunter has this issue with jaeger rep unfortunately as the 10 rounders are at ll3 I think. Svd 20's also are higher level. One gun that didn't exist when I made this was the RFB, I think that is a bit more accessable

Adding an AR grip+stock combo to 153 make sit also permanently wide in raid so it is even more likely to turn back to you as long as you put cheap grips and stocks

the 136 is the true budget it cossts 35k from skier lvl 1 and u can shove a black stock butpad rk6 ak100 handguard and any dot sight and its under 70k running ps

It takes time to figure out the map flow + where people might be + hearing gunshots in your exact raid and figuring out where to stand so they come across your path without spotting you. Just experience tbh

Hmm I just think ap 6.3 is too low on pen to be consistent enough vs level 5 armour, which is what you really need to beat at this point. I'm sure it works sometimes but both fmj and subsonic for mp7 perform better and usually you can buy one of the two. Not that this is always what you should go off, but there's a reason mp7 ammo is out of stock and 6.3 is not in my opinion!

M1A is a good gun, I just don't run it a great deal - plus with the 50 rounders and the price of the non m80 ammo I think we're kinda moving out of budget land, but no doubt its a decent weapon

I just don't think it's consistent enough, especially for newer players! The ammo is too crappy and often you have to go for legs. Can be good but I don't like it personally - I got ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED by magnum buck the other day so there is merit to that for sure hahah

The Molot VPO-215 .366 TKM rifle with .366 TKM AP is also nuts compared with how dirt cheap they are I usually take one mag in the gun and one extra. I also take about 10 other bullets that work just if I need it. insuring them will often get you the weapon back since it is so cheap. also putting a scope on is really easy since you can get it from Lvl 1 jaeger. and yes it is from fairTX link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pxZ0FVzW1RI.html

Yeah a few people have suggested - only issue is getting the ammo as it's level 3 Mechanic. I feel like once you're at that stage there are some better choices that also work at longer ranges. But I've not tested it extensively yet, I will give it some time at some stage to come to a definite answer :)

I don’t get how you could ever justify buying a 100k gun even with insurance I mean what happens if you go in and lose that your down 100k? Also I am a noob and probably don’t know what I’m talking about but I usually have like 300k ish and idk I feel like that’s way to big a risk

If you're just starting out then I get that! Once you are making decent money though you'll have a different view on it. Hideout makes money once upgraded, and loot in raid is typically 10k+ so you only need a few items to sell on the flea to afford a 100k weapon

Yes it does - the only exception is if they shot (and actually hit) you first, then you can kill them and the ai scavs won't become hostile. But they actually have to hit you with a bullet annoyingly, if they miss you have to be careful about fighting back!

its sad that some of the weapons i used to have set up like. my boomstick. the 153 shotgun with slug rounds with speed loader and 8 rnds, hexagon silencer with a top rail for the red dot sight... used to cost me a little over 110k.... now its around 360k. its insane how much the prices are up. :S

7:12 Those 4.6 mm AP rounds are totally unrealistic and imbalanced. The whole 4.6 lineup is a bit too high in damage, but the real problem is armour penetration, that is simply ridiculous given the small bullet and case size and moderate chamber pressure of the round. Together with 5.7mm rounds this stuff should be significantly tuned down. 8:38 How do you rate the recently added KS-23 though?

good pen doesnt matter if it doesnt do good flesh damage. that's why igolnik is virtually worse than its lower class brothers. it has a tendency it over pen and doesn't do much flesh damage. so it results in more shots on target than say. BS or BT would

I used to agree with this, but after the thorax hp buff both igol and bs are 3 shot kills these days so are pretty much the same imo outside of the frag chance difference which is about 15% I think
