Do your brake discs get tarnished when washing your car and then make a mess of your nice clean wheels as you drive off? Bill Hamber may be the solution.
@@Clint_L Cheers, it just me in my workshop, no ifs no buts just plain and simple. Have a look through the videos and any questions just comment and I will get back to you👍
thanks, when using it let it dwell slightly longer before rinsing than I did in the video as I was rushing to get the car completed before it got dark. Other subscribers have also suggested that a second spray after washing the wheel. I haven't felt the need to do a second spray but will give it a try to see what if any effect.Once again thanks for your support👍
You must be bored this afternoon Alan checking my videos out. You will find Atom Mac even more effective if you also spray on your disc after your last rinse after the contact wash as well as after cleaning the wheels
Been using this since it came out. Quick spray before washing and one after does the trick. I have a motorbike that I go to work on in all weathers. It helps keep all the components from rusting through the winter.
Chris_Leslie225 hadn’t thought about bike use👍. I will give the extra spray after washing as you suggest and see if that improves the end result. Good tip, thanks Chris
Chris, couple of questions. What dilution rate do you use on your bike, how often do you use Atom Mac on it and are there any areas of your bike that you don't spray? Cheers, Martin.
I use it at 5% and will use a few sprays if it’s raining before I head off and similar when I return. Takes a few seconds. I put it on the rear sprocket, brakes and suspension. I don’t bother with the engine as I’m not sure about heat. Using a bike in all weathers means trying to keep all the nuts and bolts from corroding which is a battle. I use a rust inhibitor ACF50 after each wash then the AtomMac as an in between helping hand so to speak.
@@Audittr2108 acf50 after each wash? You must get through tonnes of it. Acf lasts a good 3 to 5 months as long as you thoroughly wash and dry before application.
Thanks for this! Been interested to know how you’re getting on with this. I’ve found that applying well before you wash, so it dries, is more effective. You can then apply again as soon as you’ve done the wheels
You are right Marc but believe me it was very cold & I just needed to get the car clean so didn't wait too long before rinsing down the wheels but thought it would show how effective it was even with no dwell time. Chris Leslie (below) also makes the point that he gives a second spray after washing. I haven't felt the need to do that but will give it a try to see if it makes any difference. Thanks again for your support👍
Great to see follow up videos, sometimes these are better than the initial ones cause opinions can change or additional information comes out. Is it not better to clean the wheel first then spray the discs? or lightly spray, clean wheels and then respray again?
The best results for me have been to spray the wheels first, should really leave a little longer dwell time before rinsing but when I say it was cold, I mean COLD & the car needed cleaning before it got dark. I haven't felt the need to then give another spray after washing but quite a few of my subscribers do so I will give a second spray a try and see if it makes much of an improvement. Chris (above) uses it on his motorbike before using it in the rain, says it is really effective.
Hi Martin, Not thought about it for use on discs before, any effect on braking efficiency? Have used around engine and up around suspension and works well, regards CSTSA1 on insti
It make no difference what wheel cleaner you use as long as the wheel is properly rinsed off. Once you have cleaned the wheel and ready to go on to the next then spray the disc and leave it
thanks for the movie. I also use this product, at first little to no result and still rust on the disc. My experience is that the more you use this product the better it will work, it actually penetrates the brake disc. For best effect, spray directly as soon as you have cleaned the rim, so do not continue with the other rims first.
How does this compare to HYDES serum ruststopper?? Have you used HYDES? TY. I get rust rings after a wash, only on a portion of the pad surface where the pads don't contact and on the top of the breathing fins.
Hi John, I have tried to get Hyde’s in the past but unsuccessful so can compare sorry. However what I will say is Atom Mac comes concentrated so you can choose your own dilution and make it as strong or weak as you need. Where I believe Hyde’s comes ready to use. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Are you based in the UK or US? If in the UK do you know where it’s available as I would like to try it
Hi, Martin, I am seriously considering this as I put new brake disks on the wifes PP GTi (huge disks) they seem to rust very easily after a wash even with Brake Buster. Do you think the price is worth it?
Patrick Vennard hi Patrick, I would say yes. I forget how much it is but it make a big difference to mine. If you lived close I would say use mine and see what you think but I live in Berkshire
Hi I’ve used this a few times now but my discs still rust up after washing ( if I don’t drive the car soon after ) could I have my dilution wrong ? I’ve applied both before & after.
What's the process of using Atom Mac? Funnily enough, I have a BMW X3 M40i (2 weeks old) bought this stuff to prevent brake discs looking brown - used it today and they've turned brown.- were silver before. Did the 5% solution as suggested, used the Bilt wheel cleaner first then sprayed atom mac on and left for 5 mins. Any help appreciated.
Hi, hope you are enjoying the M40i as much as I do👍. I use slightly stronger solution and make sure I coat all the discs directly after I rinse the wheel. If you look at Marc's comments below, he also coats the discs well before he washes the car. Let me know how you get on
It's probably a scam, just like their purported "anti-corrosive" shampoo. Spent 30 EUR on it, and after washing the car the brake discs turned brown again! Big, shameless lie!
have been tempted by this for a while for my big brake kit, might ask Santa for a small bottle lol would ideally liked to see comparison between one treated brake disc and a non treated on the video
I did intend to do that Andy but went brain dead and sprayed them all. It may be down to me being an old git or just a prat 🤷🏻♂️. Will do better next time 👍. For interest what is your "big brake kit"
OX4SNYPA hi, I think it’s about £15 and you can see the results in the video. I’m not sure if you can improve with a stronger solution. It may also be a little better if you leave the solution on a little longer before washing the wheels??
Great informative video, first seen this on Jon's channel and have been hummin and hawin whether to get it, but I have just added it to my In2Detailing basket having watched this, I know this video is over a year old but how often are u using this stuff? As I was thinking maybe once every few weeks or does it need to be every wash? Thanks Alan 😎👍🏻🏴
Hi Alan, I use it at 5% dilution at every wash. Wash and rinse the wheel, spray atom Mac over the disc and move on to the next wheel. Try to cover as much of the disc as possible. Let me know how you get on
Hi Seniorita, Atom Mac is produced by British manufacturer Bilt Hamber so not sure if they sell in America but I do know a local company to me do sell products around the world and they stock Bilt Hamber products including Ato Mac so give them a try. enquiries@elitecarcare.co.uk. Let me know how you get on👍
My videos aren't "how to videos" but "this is what Im doing videos". If this product or process doesn't appeal then clearly its not for you so save your time & money......simple really
@@ObsessiveCarDetailer don't worry I belive you because I have the product too just saying to make the review complete for people who haven't used it before
