When the G-2-C came out, I purchased one just because I liked the fit and price range. I didn't need another subcompact 9m.m. but it was attractive to me. After taking it to the range, I fell in love with this little weapon. . .
I have had the PT111 G2 for over 5 years. It’s been to the range many times without any FTF or FTE. It’s been worth every penny spent! 😉 love my Taurus! ❤️
I feel the same way I bought mine loved it so much I bought the G3 c g3 and gx4 so I got all 4 best guns on the market my opinion though regardless of the money
@@4theloveofguns915 yes sir.😎👍 I don't know if you know this yet but, they make the micro Roni kits for the Taurus line up now. It's a nice investment to turn any of your Taurus gun into a PCC.💯
Have had mine for about a year...slide was not returning forward completely at first. Took it apart cleaned and lubricated the rails, fires flawlessly now. I noticed when I first took it apart it was dirty and pretty dry..love this gun
Compared to Sig Sauer, it most definitely is way more affordable. If you get your panties in a twist with someone pointing that out, that is your own personsal issue. Not sure what else to tell you, cupcake.
I just bought the G2c as my first gun. Going into it, I wanted something that I would enjoy using and that my wife would be comfortable shooting as well. Needless to say, after we both have fired several hundred rounds with it, we both love it and I know I didn't make a bad choice with this gun. Thanks for your review and stay safe out there.
I love my G2C for daily carry. I have a few other guns I carry as well, Glock, Kimber, H&K, but though it is the cheapest in my collection, the Taurus has been the choice for about 4 months now. It's small form, easy to conceal, comfortable, fires smoothly, it's all around a great little gun. Also being on the thin side (I'm 6'6 and weigh about 160) it doesn't dig into my hip and I can wear it all day and I forget it's there. Older vid, the G3C is out now, but 2022, you still can't go wrong with a G2C. One tip, oil it right out the box, mine felt 'dry' but after a little Hoppes it slides smooth a butter.
A lot of people might think I’m crazy but I absolutely love the trigger on this gun. Bought this gun for $240. A lot of fun for a little price. For all the people who don’t own this gun, I would highly recommend it. Don’t let the price and the brand turn you away!!
Buddy of mine bought one, I tried it and fell in love. Its a quality firearm that can compete with more premium handguns in its class but cost half as much. Needless to say I am getting one for myself very soon.
Obviously the new people at Taurus took the best of everything around them while rounding out the G2C. It's a Glock + S&W with a 1911 style safety. 12 rounds. And it shoots well! The long trigger take-up to the wall is exactly what I want in a carry pistol. Re-strike capability. Conceals very well. Pricing this pistol around $200 was genius move by Taurus...they are snatching up market share with undeniable price point value.
p trax you are the man! That's exactly what is needed for carry, for the many! Hopefully fast resets like I seen on videos is also real. Very impressed at fast shooting rates down range on some videos. Waiting for my new one. $189.99 plus tax. Can't pass that up even for carry for my wife!
Yes, very fast. The reset position becomes reflex. And the recoil absorbs well with the springs, weight, and balance. Taurus did their homework with this pistol.
You have to dry fire it just to field strip it, so no worries there. I’m a Glock guy, and I still am, but this is one of the most impressive pieces I’ve come across in a long, long time...especially considering it costs about half of what my carry gun G-43 does. So impressed, I’ve got two of them in the safe.
Purchased the G2c after looking at a lot of videos and am extremely pleased with the quality I received for a very low price. Thanks for your excellent review of this very nice gun!
I bought my nail polish (red & white) at the thrift store. Felt compelled to tell the clerk “My wife’s gonna really like this!” He rolled his eyes at me. Not sure if he bought my story. But now my old eyes can pickup the sight picture much quicker!
I have the same exact one that he's showing in this video The Grey and I paid 200 for it but I'm going to wind up getting the one with us stainless slide.. I absolutely love this gun
This is like the Glock, but actually perfected. I have *NEVER* been a fan of the "No Safety" feature of the Glock. I know, the tactical folks will tell me that will "get me killed" but I'm far more likely to shoot myself with an accidental trigger pull (either by the trigger being caught on something or just pressure applied to the trigger area accidentally) than I am to die from a 1 second flip of a safety switch when I draw the pistol. Plus, I learned on 1911s, so this isn't a foreign concept to me. Everyone seems shocked that Taurus makes good guns. My father owned their revolvers, I own a 617 and have never had any issues with them. While they are "budget friendly" that sure as hell doesn't make them cheap. In my mind, maybe it means we are being over-charged for similar pistols with similar features.
@@FacultyFan Combat veteran here, You are mostly right. I had my rifle on safe when I went out on patrols. Never did I regret having to flick the safety to start firing. its a split second slower. but it can save you if for instance you fall or stumble or have to jump a ditch and the gun lands wrong.... Its a personal choice. Most of the "Tacticool" guys have never been on a 2 way range in any meaningful way.
@timmybmn price definitely went up. I paid 400 for just one lol after tax and Eerything. thing. that’s also with a 30 dollar discount lol. People are seeing how fire this gun is as they should
Nice video, I enjoyed it so much I had to watch again. I bought my PT 111 G2 actually in 2015 it has been a really good gun. I preciously posted that mine was 3 years old, actually I think it’s almost 5 years old!! Been very happy with it. Shooting off the super short reset is sweetness! What a great gun.
Wow that many rounds & no malfunctions.i own a smith & wesson m&p shield.9mm.but looking at this side arm i actuly think it looks pretty sweet.i like taurus & am thinking of buying one just to have one.
Finally got to hold one of these today in my local gun store. Got to say I was impressed. If I didn’t already own a subcompact 9mm (Glock 43) I’d pick up a G2C
You know I really liked my PT111G2. This is an improvement over that. I think I most people would take their Taurus blinders off, they would find this to be a good gun to recommend.
The G2C, for the most part, is the same as the G2. The main, and best difference, is the lack of that locking system in the slide. They ditched it completely on the G2C. The little things are the roll marks on the slide and the grip texture is a little more aggressive than the G2.
Man I dig that Orange holster nice work to Harry!!! I have three of these G2C they all have approx 200 rounds through them and they each fill particular roles(not carry). I carry Appendix even though i have had three stomach operation in the last five months via a Belly Band using a cross draw method. Where there's a will there's a way lol Super review as always sir. P.S. The only thing I upgraded is the guide rod and spring i installed a stainless set up from Lakeland
I've had the G2 for several years & it is a great truck gun as others have said. Mine has been very reliable; mags are reasonable & easy to find. There are a few nice aftermarket upgrades available which says a lot. To me it is a double stack Shield which is my EDC. Very good review!
I have a PT 111 gen 2 and it has been a gem! It is the same pistol. The trigger dingus is fairly particular, you really need to be sure to depress it. Do NOT get the ProMag 32 round magazine, it is inconsistent functioning from pistol to pistol. Although the sites themselves are plastic, the exterior frame of the rear sights is metal. A lot of outlets sell these for $200. I have been very happy with mine and I probably put just under a thousand rounds down range with it. As far as I'm concerned, for the price, size, weight, trigger, safety, capacity, and reliability, this was the pistol of the year. Of course, since it was an expensive and a Taurus, a lot of guns knobs just turn their noses up at it if they even knew that it existed. Those of us that are cost-benefit shoppers were aware of this, gave it a shot, and were rewarded with a great find.
Well said King! I agree that more people should give it a try. I think they would be pleasantly impressed as I have been. An excellent pick up indeed. Thank you and cheers!
I admit I was the same til I borrowed a friend's and carried it for a week and did some range time and drills. I was gonna buy another Glock or mp to keep in my glove box full time but I ended up buying two of these instead one for the car and one to keep hidden in my living room in case I couldn't get to the ones in my bed room My brother gave me some grief and talked about how how o had one failure to ejects out of 500 rounds (note that it was near the very end of that run and probably was something with the round itself) and I'm like dude...when the hell do you expect me to get in a 500 round fire fight with a rinky dink handgun ? Better yet when do you expect me to NOT have a clean and oiled carry option?
@Apple Lysol, mine requires that you hold in the bottom of the magazine, it moves a quarter inch up, then it will cycle rounds. I keep it in memoriam to never buy Pro Mag products.
I got my G2c about 3 months ago and have about 300 rounds through it so far. I love the gun. Fits my hand well and is reliable; no jams or undo stoppages. Would recomend to anyone looking for a smaller gun on a budget; a tick over $200 new in the box.
Excellent review KS!! For the money you won't find a better brand new gun period. The G2C is my Truck gun, cuz if it gets stolen or confiscated.. only out $200! Thanks again and God bless!!👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I purchased the G2C about 4 yrs ago. Installed the stainless steel guide rod, stainless steel striker guide and a stainless finish barrel and I love it. Put over 1500 rounds without any hiccups. Awesome gun!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
This is a great gun. I had a couple rounds of Winchester steel case ammo stick in the chamber (did the same thing in other guns as well), but otherwise flawless function after getting close to 1000 rounds. The rear sight kept losing elavtion adjustment so Taurus sent me a new one, but I went ahead and bought the Lakeline fiber optic sights and have forgotten about how terrible the factory ones were. I have complete faith this firearm will work if I ever need it to. It works, it's comfortable, fun to shoot and the triggers on comparable guns at twice the price are far from perfect as well. What's not to love?
It's a fabulous firearm! I have the PT111G2 and it straight rocks at the range. You won't regret the purchase. I bought mine for my wife. She picked it out and then said that it was to big for her to carry comfortably, so I happily took it over. I thought it was a bit small at first and it took some getting used to the long trigger, but after a few mags I was hooked.
I just got mine the day before you published this video and I shot it today. I put about 150 rounds of 124 gr. and 115 gr. Aguila, Magtech, Perfecta and Herters (all brass ammo) through from 4 different magazines without any problems. Two of the factory, Taurus magazines I bought from Academy for $54.00, delivered, for both mags.. They are marked made in the USA, while the magazines that came with the gun are marked, made in Brazil. The American made magazines have a more seamless, seam in the back, but otherwise are identical. Like you, I'll be putting some more rounds through it before carrying it.
Thank you my friend! I am more of a operator and you my friend are an artist with these videos. I wish I could make as smooth of a video or talk as nice as you. LOL! Great job.
Taurus needs to fix the magazine pricing. If this is going to be a carry gun. Most recommend cycling the mags every 6 months. I would even prefer a spring option but wolf springs doesnt make one for this gun. I think this is a mitake considering the popularity of this gun. $60 tp replace the mags and I paid $179 for the pt111 g2. Other guns have much cheaper mag options.
One of my friends (a new shooter) recently bought a PT111 G2 new for $207.00 + tax. The salesman was trying to talk him out of it, but I talked him into it. Good purchase.
I hate when they do that. I was showing this and mp sheilds to my gf for a purse gun and this dude behind the counters trying to show her a full sized barreta and Glock 17 bc it's wat military and law enforcement use..... I'm like dude she's not gonna carry something that big and heavy but he went into the schpeel of the larger magazines the reduced recoil bc of the weight and finally we just left and went to another store. I get it they are trying to be helpful but sometimes it seems they are more about pushing their preference than meeting the actual needs of the buyer.
Got one, love it. This gun loves the Lee 95 gr rnd/flat tip.(for you bullet casters out there). Fits right in a back brace. Shoots great groups!! Go get one
I bought a Millenium G2 for my son 3 years ago for $250. It was his first pistol. I really liked it. I carried a CZ P07 at the time. I love that pistol. That being said, I purchased a G2C for myself for $217. I bought an Alien Gear holster for it and hardly know I am wearing it. It shoots well, and I will be carrying it from now on.
Thanks for your very helpful review. I'm looking for a compact 9 mm and the Taurus G2C has pretty much the features that I'm looking for within my budget. Reading Favorable comments from owners is a big plus.
Newbie here, the G2C (silver slide, TEN round mags) is my first firearm, I got it a week ago, so the only comparisons I have are range rentals before that, a couple of Glocks, including the 48 and a larger one I don't recall the model number. I like the G2c. I liked the 48 too, but at a significant price difference for the same performance? Being a newbie, I have no real experience to compare the triggers, so to ME the trigger is mostly fine, and my theory on the long travel is due to the double-strike capabilities: to allow the double-action without needing a heavy pull. The wall, or breakpoint is well-defined, I was able to quickly pull to that point to be ready once I centered my aim. My only complaint after some range time and dry-firing, is actually the safety blade in the trigger. It doesn't sit flush when pulled so it does feel like a blade after a while.
im a newbie too and looking at this one as a potential ccp option down the road after i get more experience. i just purchd a Taurus PT92 alum frame stainless slide with wood grip upgrades its a blingy beast to say the least. so happy with it so far. if u see this update me on ur g2c
I sand my Glocks trigger down very lightly to round it off not really sand it down. the stock trigger and blade is awful on my gen3 17 but it's my carry so I'm not going to change any significant parts out.
I've never had an original PT111, but I do have a G2. My G2 has performed surprisingly well and not to mention, good looking. The G2C has my attention.
I find the guns with deeper grooves are more inclined to cut you if you are too aggressive with how you do it, so I prefer the milder styling of the G2C
Hi KS, I like to start saying that, although the G2C is fairly new to the market the PT111 is been out there for quite a while and there are tons and tons of reviews about it. I bought one some six months ago and before I did I watched every video on the web, so, at this point to talk about measurements and texture of the grips is out of it. By now the main issue is reliability and craftsmanship. Is it well made? It’s reliable? Can it become anyone’s EDC? It is obvious that a S&W, Sig, Colt and many other brands enjoy a far better reputation than Taurus, but, is this particular gun doing the job, yes or not! Well from my point of view and experience with this tool it has demonstrated to be 100% reliable after 400+ rounds with out one hiccup using all kinds of amo, cheap and expensive ones, and is it still in one piece with minimal to none wear on it’s components. The trigger, definitely it is not the best, nothing I cannot live with but is it not the greatest. Something people have to stop saying in the reviews is “for the money “. I think that this is an awesome gun, no matter how much I paid for, it’s got very many features that not may expensive guns in it’s category have. 12+1 in a very small, shootable, double strike capability, Reliable and concealable weapon it’s a lot. And you get all this in a very affordable package. This gun is worth every penny you invest in it to make it better, that is if you want to, I can live with mine just the way it is.
Agreed, it is flat better than the Sig 365 and every other sub compact as far as I am concerned. . . considering the price. Remind me how many rounds you get in a PPS, G43, or 9mm Shield. . . that is what I thought. It has already been proven to be more reliable than the Sig, that much is obvious. It holds 12+1, a pretty impressive package. I replaced the guide rod and recoil spring. I need to buy more of them.
Thanks for the feedback. Clearly you like the gun. Although you have experience with the PT111 and G2C, others may not, so giving the stats is not “out of it”. And, the G2C is fairly new so it’s even more relevant. I try to consider all aspects of guns I review so it can be as universal as possible for a wide audience. As for “for the money” it’s important that people understand this is a budget gun, so the features become more critical and it’s good to highlight the positives as I did in the video. I stay unbiased and transparent in my reviews to ensure accuracy and limit criticism unless it’s unavoidable. Cheers
Great to see the great reviews on this firearm! Just grabbed one from Academy Sports for $179.00 for their Black Friday promo and looking forward to taking it to the range.
Funny I never thought to try my Canik mags in my G2C. But yes they do fit and feed. They don't lock back on empty and they don't drop free. So not perfect but usable.
Do a google search for Taurus G2C upgrades, there is a carbon trigger replacement for $20 right now. It's supposed to remove at least 20 % of the huge take up on this pistol when you install it. Also nice replacement stainless steel spring assemblies and springs. I forget their name, something like Lakeline. I think their in Florida, not sure though.
Jim Kosz Excellent ,thank you. I got the guide road from LakeLand but I was not aware of the new trigger, I will look into it. Thanks a lot for the info!
@@francisdrake8742 It is quite a bit of disassembly work to change it out, but install videos are good to follow. Only have to do it once. Should be a very noticeable change they say...20% difference I think. Good Luck, waiting for my new G2C to arrive next week.
Great review! I'll be picking mine up Friday from my local dealer. I'm looking forward to getting it! I'll have to check out that holster company. Looks like a very high quality rig.
Haha!! The G2C would be a spot on truck gun indeed. Been thinking of revisiting the G19 Gen 5 and just may pull the trigger on it. They are excellent guns. Thank you and cheers!
I love your videos. I too shoot at Centerfire, such a great range. After watching your video and many others I finally bought the G2C. I have put about 250 rounds though it and have had zero problems. I also think it feels and looks good, has many features other more expensive guns lack. I am glad to see someone local in my area that I can watch reviews on. I will have to hit up harrysholsters. I like to support my local guys. Maybe I will see you at the range. Cheers!! Subscribed
Beggars can’t be choosers and choosie Mothers choose Gif!! I love the trigger on my 3 year old PT111 G2. Mine has been perfect since day one!!! Best $270.00 gun purchase I have ever made. I bought my mine before the price dropped and I still think I got a great deal.
Well said! I agree, this thing has truly impressed and can’t wait to continue working with it. Excellent option, especially for the price. Thank you and cheers Dj!
The PT111 G2 has been my CCW since 2013. Thousands of rounds through this pistol and it is very reliable, even with hollow points. Can recommend this gun without hesitation. Great review KS. Keep 'em coming.
Incredibly smart of TAURUS gun company to knowingly sell a gun worth well over $400 for half the price.. Results? Controversial and impressive results.. In turn, quantity over quality income for the company while all happy customers for an under priced gun that performs like a much more expensive / higher end gun.. In turn, a win win situation.. everyone's happy
There will be reports on almost any firearm out there, just hope not to see them en masse like the P365 has had. Teething problems with a Sig at that price point is not so good, though.
Being a Taurus I was apprehensive, but so far my G2c seems to have been a good purchase. On ebay you can buy a flat floorplate for your concealed carry magazine.
I've had 3 Taurus' with the PT111 G2 my most current and its my EDC. I stand behind Taurus who sells quality without brandnameitis. That's an inflammation of the price (substantially over quality) because of the brand name stamped on the side. Ok, I'l say it...the Glock craze is over rated. The fact that military selected a Sig doesn't make it better than a good deal the government got. If you want the right price point for a quality firearm, Taurus is the brand. And no, I don't work for Taurus, don't get free stuff from them and I'm not looking for anything from them. Just giving my humble opinion.
Glock is like the iPhone of the gun world. Every new gen is almost the exact same thing as before and they rely on the legacy of years ago and brand loyalty. When the gen 5 came out I looked at it I looked t it's price and I'm like...hmm I can buy a MUCH better hk sig etc for this price or I can see less money and get roughly the same gun out of a sw or Springfield Glock is getting into dangerous waters where it's not going to be high quality enough to merrit its cost compared to other options in that price range But it's going to be too expensive when compared to the guns of similar ergo and out of the box options that are hundred of dollars cheaper Yes they are reliable but how often do you find yourself in a situation where you're going to shoot 1000 rounds without cleaning or oiling your gun? How often are you going to dunk your gun into a mud puddle and have to shoot? How often are you gonna drop 500 bucks on a gun that you then need to drop more money in after market parts to make it's erognomics or aesthetics match the next cheaper option? Much like iPhone people are waking up realizing just bc it says Glock and costs $600 doesn't mean it's automatically the best
My G2C is my EDC and I absolutely love it. Perfect size for my hand. I have dumped 500+ rounds through it with no problems. Only thing I changed was my Barrel guide rod to a full stainless steel one from Lakeside LLC. I am very happy with it and it conceals perfectly. I bought mine with the Od green frame with black slide brand new and walk oit the door with background check for $180.
I have the G2C and I love it! I think that this is an improvement over the PT111 or the G2 in that it DOESN'T have the Taurus locking safety system on it.. I was never a fan of the safety system and am glad that the G2C was built without it. The pistol has performed flawlessly and it is a real good looking pistol for the price. Very happy with mine and very impressed with your video!! Subscribed... keep up the great work!
picked one up a few days ago, not bad at all. put 100 rounds , only issue was the loaded indicator that comes up, when rapid firing it blew out and up, was still in the slide with the pin, took it out, left it out, another 50 rounds, not one problem after that.for the price and able too be an EDC, very happy. thanks for the review and keep up the great work.
AWESOME review on a awesome gun so far in my life as well I have close to 500 rounds in mine mostly Sig ammo so check that box off that personal protection ammo runs fine in it . That is all I use it for a carry gun so I don't shoot any other ammo than that and I go about 2 times a month to shoot this gun . I love it there are times when I forget I even have a gun on me it is so small and light. Now that winter is coming I will be putting up the Taurus G2c for a CZ sp01 because I have a coat and cloths to cover but in summer this is my go to weapon.
I'm in the market for a CCW/ range warrior and this came up in my search. The length of the take up actually sets my mind at ease that it won't go off unintentionally. I'm strongly considering it.
