Jake being aromantic is honestly alluded to as early as the post-trickster hangover scene where he says something along the lines of thinking he ‘just wasn’t capable of feeling that way’! And I’d add onto that the fact he viewed dating Dirk as an inevitability because Dirk always ends up getting what he wants or can’t leave things be. The platonic side of things I think is just him being super into his self loathing though. I think this is him more deciding like ‘I hurt my friends feelings once so now I need to stay away forever because I’m awful and the worst.’ That’s how I see it anywyas :)!
when i first read this i guess as an aromantic person i was able to pick up early on that jake was aro as well but also as an allosexual person (non asexual) i was also excited bc i also read him that way as well, and i hardly ever see that in media!!

QotD: yeah it’s what you chose for Dirk, Chapter 3 TTYD is best part of the game, Dirk is best character, and it really fits him so I commend the choice. Also the remake should totally be the next thing because it’s really good so I’ll be voting that on the poll signed -a person who 100% it.
Jane x 3 So, Jane. The human that is the most meh. But.. Why? I think the issue with Jane is how she was constructed. Every one of the Alpha Kids take the most after one Beta Kid but have some influnece of the other. With the Egharcrocklishes, they take most after the person of the opposite gender. As such, Jane and John are tbe most similar (even down to their names and aspects, Life is implied to be like Breath and Jane's name is a feminine version of John). And isolated, it's perfectly fine for Jane to be like John. However, due to the differences in their sessions, Jane is mostly forgettable while John is pretty endearing. John is a very passive character, he doesnt tend to lead many plots. He is very reactive, not proactive. However, he works because he is the main character in a story where we are constantly learning more about everything. We get to be endeared onto him due to his reactions to everything. He is the person who runs into most of everything. And even when he isn’t exploring, he is a character that other characters try to bring into their nonsense a lot. John works because he gets to be the vehicle for the story to progress. Jane, however, isn’t in a story. She is biding her time. Jane does do some John-ish things, like be the person who explores her land on screen. But the basic concept of the lands is old news, we just learn that the consorts are dead this time. Jane can't explore, we already know everything. Jane can't progress things, we are stuck with inert Nobles, not Heroes. The only thing she has is interactions. But the Cherubs only occasionally bug her, Jake is connected to Dirk, Roxy is often doing her own thing, and Dirk is constantly in his own stuff. The only things she gets for herself are: Dad prison. Heiress for The Condesce. But those mostly don't get brought up until like. Act 6. But The Condesce gets reintroduced by taking away Jane's autonomy until like now. And Dad still hasn't been properly returned. Jane is a character built to react but has nothing to react to. 8:20 hmmm,,,, 30:43 Tavros??? Doing something???? In MY Homestuck?????
We are approaching them... The greatest character in homestuck and the final one Wit tavrossprite we are one more down i know for sure hes on the list... That thing is thorough. Though if jake had a single braincell he coulda gave Gcat to nepeta and cut them from the comic But alas clearly this was very needed to happen.... Anyway it seems like you wont be reading the epilogues or hs^2 Which is fair epilogues get a bad rap but are better then their reputation Hs^2 is only going to get good but has a very rough first 400 pages or so that is as bad it's reputation
Guilty said before that he'll consider looking at other Homestuck related stuff, but he would want to a bit of time to process Homestuck and its ending overall before he does. So no confirmation he will or won't touch it yet, he just won't immediately after Homestuck proper. I think Hiveswap could be a fun Wednesday thing to do while he does his next main project since it's not too long and isn't as chaotic as Homestuck. (Though I would love to see Undertale Yellow return)
