BONGAO AND TAWI TAWI HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS... IT FEELS SAFER, AND THE LOCAL MARKET HAS SOME CLEANER AREAS!
Bongao is the capital of this island province near Malaysia. It is the main commerce hub, and gateway to all the islands of Tawi Tawi. After arriving by boat, we spent a day exploring the local market and catching up with old friends. I remember four years ago the tricycles being much "smokier", and the vibes being a bit more intense... at least in regards to safety. Now, people seem much more relaxed with foreign nationals around.
This is local market life in Bongao, the capital of Tawi Tawi province in the Philippines!

Never been to this place and by seeing this video about Tawi-tawi my perspective of this area has totally changed. Hope the LGU will invest more on better roads, nice public market area or building to keep the place more organized, modern port and excellent hospital for the locals.

Tawi tawi is the best island in the Philippines with pristine water. I hope they preserve cleanliness and don't dump garbage in water. This is my bucket list when I go vacation . I'm watching here in Madison, Wisconsin, USA 🇺🇸

somewhere in far away part of the philippines.. we live in honesty, simplicity, we like sharing rather than ripping off someone, but we cant blame those in living in huge cities... there lives depend on ripping off tourist or others, to survive not like us.. a simple gift from nature.. its provides us all to live a simple yet happy and contented life

Good you have good friends in Tawi Tawi Basha is helping you. The locals warmly welcome you Kulas. My landlord is a Tausog also from Zamboanga City a very kind and generous man I know in my life I never remember incident that he gets angry in us. He is understanding and resoectful. We are Christians living in his house but our Kuya our landlord seems like our big brother who care and protect us. Tawi Tawi looks highly productive and commercial place wanna taste the food in that coffee shop. Seems like the cook crabs you eat is also yummy. Enjoy your stay in Tawi Tawi. God bless Tawi Tawi!

Hi Kyle 👋 thank you for showing Bongao. I used to have an acquaintance / friend that live there her name is Sitti ( i know there’s lots of Sitti - a popular name ), but they also came from Davao del Sur - that’s where we knew each other and that was in 1980s. Wow. Tawi-Tawi is a nice palce. From your videos in Tawi-Tawi I can say that their place is friendly, peaceful ang nice nature.. Their place need more improvements. They are the most near to Malaysia and from what I have heard that the people o ther goods are mostly from Malaysia because it is nearer than going to Zamboanga City.

Many say Shangrila does not truly exist, they are wrong. It is because it does exist, Shangrila can be found and experienced in Mapun and Bongao, Tawi Tawi.

Tawi -Tawi the Sea Gypsy Capital of the world . They replaced the 2T type engine motor with four strokes that's why there's less smoke .
