Ye that's what the plaid is for. A poor mans quick car. No offense by that statement its just the going around overall sentiment I've seen. Seems like people that are able to afford high end porsches or other exotics never drive a tesla. I honeslty see why. I've been in one before and nothing feels special about it compared to those high end luxury brands with crazy engines. Yea the once in a blue moon u launch it its cool. But the other cars feel just as fast and are just as fun to cruise around in. Just crusing in a tesla isn't even close to as enjoyable. Feel like there able to cut cost so much is because they cut corners and make everything plan jane as could be. No carbon fiber bucket racing seats or luxury seats, sport steering wheel,carbon fiber thru the car, HUD,etc.. the exterior is just as plan Jane. It just doesn't look mean and aggresive espicially that ugly outdated rear end. If i do notice a tesla it does nothing for me usually just blends into traffic

Like you said it’s a poor man’s quick car. Most people in the world will not be able to afford a high end sports car and Tesla is half the price, incredibly quick, reliable and the cheapest to take care off, you get the most for buck. To me it’s a no brainer for which to choose.. if I had 200k I would choose the one I can drive everyday and be just as quick as a lambo🤷🏿‍♂️

First and foremost, when Tesla first came out with the Model S, I was sold on the car and the tech. The model S was the first high production electric car that I knew of here in the states, it was nice looking and sleek! I came close to getting one back in 2019. After the launch of the model 3 and model Y, I felt the whole line was starting to get stale! Those model 3’s and Y’s are freaking everywhere! Last but not least, I was never a fan of the Tesla interiors! This all brings me to today. I appreciate what they’ve done for the industry, but other brands got my attention. I will be getting a Taycan Turbo S this summer!

I can hear this familiar roof road noise also in my model Y. $10 fix. Install rubber seal around the glass roof. Substantial improvement!

As for the feel and feeling connected to the car... track mode makes a HUGE difference especially when going around corners. It feels like a different car!

@@TABonTV - also, track pack with ceramic brakes is available. For some, the much larger luggage and passenger compartment space is an important deciding factor. So is the Supercharger network. Cybertruck is steer by wire, surely coming to the Plaid soooooon...

Most basic functions can be activated using voice command, one button press on the steering wheel/yoke.

Now the round steering wheel is standard and the yoke is an extra cost option. The thing I don't like on mine is the stockless turn signals. I assume I may eventually get used to it. By the way they have also dropped the price in the US to $89,990 US for the Plaid with black interior and 19 inch rims in any color. Ultra red had cost an additional $3,000.

I love the Yoke and all they have to do to make is better is program the turning ratio for speeds. especially if it is drive by wire.

On my model S I have the standard round wheel it’s a $700 option to get the round wheel. Buy preowned with low miles and save a ton of money 💰

Yoke is for viewing the front screen easily an forces you to hold the yoke by regulation standards its the safest way to drive especially when you have 1000 hp 200 mph

It does help with the view but no one cruises long distance at 3 / 9 o'clock on the wheel. That's just the way people drive.

A The new modified yoke is here, with proportional drive by wire steering! The new yoke thing is about 160-170degrees from Straight ahead! The Tesla model "S" was 13 years old last July. It start life as a Ford Mondeo type sedan. It turned out to be quicker than a Scoobie WRX 400 eater! Put them on a drag strip the Scoobie did the Rice Crispy thing(Snap Crackle & Pop) &the Tesla was crossing the 1/4mile line! Now it is several editions further on. Raven, Cheetah & now Plaid! Still today it is Aprrox 20%faster 0-62mph(no rollout) than the fastest Porsche Taycan! 1.9Secs to 2.6Secs for the fastest Porsche Taycan S Turbo! But let's be real anything quicker than 5.0Secs 0-60mph on the road is down reflexes or anticipation or jumping the gun!

It also got way better recently with newer seats, better brakes (you can see by red calipers), optional track pack which is bonkers and the price is like 90k...

Its a 2012 old sedan not flashy at all. Got one and its not my only car so for me the choice was easy, there’s no way you can build something that fast that reliable with a warranty. Being fast is not the most important thing, it is actually the only important thing 😉

@@cheesun124 is a refresh. New interior design and materials, a little wider fenders, some changes to the body in withe and new drivetrain but basically the same car on the outside . Body panels could have been changed much more using the same platform. For example an Nissan Z (2023) is the same chassis as a 370Z but they don’t look the same

Oh yea it's 200k. 😂 Just be real bro it's what u could afford.. without tesla u wouldn't have a quick car. Tesla is a poor mans quick car. If all u care about is speed then it just proves the point u were never able to afford a real high end sports car. No rappers no athletes no one with multi million dollar car collections drive a tesla. That's because it's dull and boring it doesn't feel like ur in something special nor does it look like ur in a expensive luxury sports car. Teslas dont feel like ur actually in a luxury car or a luxury sports car. Seeing one doesn't feel special. Who wants a quick car that every average joe can get. That doesn't look aggressive and mean with a luxury interior and a head turning engine... The model S has one of the ugliest outdated looking rear ends ive ever seen. Shit looks like basic traffic 😂 u sacrifice all that to accelerate quick once in a blue moon. Real high end luxury sports cars are just as fun to go slow in as fast. Nothing feels special about being inside a tesla. No carbon fiber all thru the car, no sport bucket seats, high grade sport steering wheel that feels good,etc..Deep hard truth bra . Tesla is having historic depreciation across the board. When ur supposedly most expensive 140k car goes down to 60k resale vale used in one year thats worse depreciation then any car company in the world.

As you know I have a 4S CT, nowhere near as fast as the Tesla (but that said and performance aside, mine is a lot, I mean a LOT cheaper than the Tesla and even with loads of options). However as you you suggested the Taycan is a better drive and once you open the door and slip into the sports seats and wonderful interior about to leave for work or to take your partner out for a meal, would you rather be in a Tesla or Porsche?

@@TABonTV absolutely, I’ve got the cross turismo 4s. I’ll be getting another one next. Turbo though. I came from a model 3 performance. The taycan is sooo much better in every way in my opinion. Great content mate.

My problrm with the yoke is in low speed manuvers, and using one hand around 90 degree bends. Also, not sure if this applies to the normal wheel offered, but driving with the yoke long distance in the place you're meant to put your hands (9 and 3), my wrists just get sore to the point of needing to drove holding with a few fingers on the bottom r/l corner of the yoke because its just unbearable. This happens after only a few hours of driving. Its not necessarily the yoke, but the position the yoke is forced to be in (not like a normal wheel), which just cramps up my wrists. It looks cool, ill give it that. But aint no way im taking the yoke over a normal wheel.

Instead of grabbing the yoke with one hand or two hands, just stick one hand in one of the yoke openings, and without grabbing it, spin arm around.

@@scottbreseke716 again. you're explaining why its not that bad instead of explaining why we should have it in the first place lol the only thing it has going for it is novolty, which we know wears off very fast. once the novelty is gone, you're left with functionality and functionally its just worse in every possible way. even holding it at 9 and 3 on this wheel is uncomfortable for long durations over a normal steering wheel. it literally craps up my hand because of the angle my wrists are put into. i dont have this problem with any other car.

I had TMS LR on order in a price 60% of the Taycan 4S CT price (20% than Tesla price). And I decided to stay with Taycan. Price is not as important as a monthly fee. Due to the high RV assumed by Porsche, monthly fee is reasonable, and customer has no risk on depreciation. Which is a fact in both cars. Prices of new EV are going down, so depreciation is huge in most cases. Tesla decreased the price of TMS 20% summer this year in my country. Great for new customers. Not so good for owners. Interior wise, Taycan CT is better, it has just smaller boot than TMS. Rear seats are better in Taycan IMO due to the low floor behind front seats. Keep in mind - I compare long roof version of Taycan. Driving position is much better in Taycan, I don’t like high driver’s position in both TM3 and TMS. In TMX I feel better, roof is much higher. I really miss one pedal driving in the city. I wish Porsche will give an option for turning off creeping on break release. It’s simply stupid, emulating hydraulic automatic gearboxes. Performance wise, TM3P I had was amazing. But after showing it to all my friends - it’s more than I needed. 4S is a sweet spot for me, the only downside is a gearbox. I’m driving in Normal mode typically, when pushed hard at low speed the car downshifts. I wish there is a „kickdown” switch on the gas pedal and downshift would be better only on full floor, not in typical city conditions. What has stopped me from entering into TMS was not a yoke. There were turn signal switches on the yoke or steering wheel. It’s stupid design. I can believe people can live with it. But I don’t know anyone who agree it’s good solution.

Hell nah. Even tesla owners says the taycan looks way more futuristic and dope. Atleast it feels special to be inside it. Feels like a porsche 911 interior somewhat. U get the bucket seats,sports steering wheel, higher grade fabrics and materials,etc.. u get the point. Tesla doesnt feel like ur in something special. Its just blah. Doesnt feel like a luxury car or a luxury sports car. No one on the road or at a car meet would ever stare,double take, or take a pic of a tesla. I hate EVs but the taycan is def another story nothing on the road looks anything like it. Plus keep in mind im sure ur saying this because tesla is a poor mans fast car. Ill tell u this. Ur time is running out. "Track pack" cheated it had to use track tires to beat the porsche taycan with 400hp less and the panamera turbo s that both used STREET TIRES when the actual plaid with street tires like the others did it's lap it lost to the taycan and panamera also handful of other 4 doors that uses street tires. That alone shaves off 10-15 sec. Think how embarrassing that is that a car with 1000hp couldn't beat a 400hp less taycan. Also it took tesla since 2007-2020 to create a fast EV .. Porsche first attempt ever the taycan is a faster dual motor EV then any tesla ever made. Porsche design and handling is on another planet. Can't wait on the taycan turbo gt. Tri motor . 1000hp+

mine is 2yrs old last week! Took me a few weeks to get used to the yoke. I forced myself to get used to it..because I love the tech of the car so much. He's right about the feel of it on the track. I've taken out on the track several times. I'm 100% used to it...I wished it had a drive by wire and steering was a bit more, like you said. After switching to the20" Martian forged MW05's and Michelin Pilot Sport S, it's definitely faster than the 19' OEM Tempest and PZeros! ru-vid.comgcV5g-i7kOs

Nah man the plaid is way better than any Taycan !! The plaid is super fast and very practical super chargers are everywhere I'm in California.. Taycan is way too heavy too slow and way too expensive

Not quite. Speed sensitive refers to feedback amount. We're talking about adjusting the amount of steer in relation to steering position.

I bought my Tesla a year ago and now hate driving cars with buttons all over the place. Tesla interior is very easy to clean also with much less crevices to have to get into and clean.

If all of your driving is on twisty turny roads, then the Porsche might make more sense. If 95% of your driving is on mostly straight-ahead roads, the Plaid is a better choice.

I'm somewhat sceptical of that claimed horsepower figure. The Bugatti Veyron used all kinds of properly difficult engineering solutions to get 1000 bhp onto the road. The Tesla S Plaid doesn't appear to have any of that. It would be interesting to get one on a rolling road to see what it's actually putting out. My guess is that it's closer to 600 bhp, than it is to a1000.

I think it's pretty accurate, to move that weight at that speed you need big bhp and torque. Thing with EVs is you lose hardly any power between the motor and the wheels, as most are direct drive. Unlike ICE with loads of moving parts / gears etc.

@@TABonTV What about high speed rated tyres (£25,000 each for Veyron), stability control programs, high performance brakes, multi radiators for cooling (that battery will get pretty hot), and altering the aerodynamics (lowered ride height) for high speed runs? How much of that does the S Plaid have? It appears to be on standard tyres, which I don't think could handle 1000 bhp. Then there's the suspension. 1000 bhp would require a lot of trick engineering.

​@@matthewgodwin3050 If you want to compare the veyron with an EV, it should probably be the Nevera, not a plaid. I'm not saying the plaid is the best use of 1000bhp, I'm saying there's no reason to doubt the numbers.

@@TB-vb3ov the right spec taycan looks way more futuristic and aggresive. Tesla looks like a old man retirement car compared to it lol. Espicially with its boxy rear end and ugly tail lights. That's what I really don't like it ruins the sleek design. We won't even get into the interior. One car has a single ipad and bulky steering wheel or trash yoke the other is actual luxury with carbon fiber bucket seats. Actually feels like ur in a luxury sports car. Teslas don't feel like ur in a luxury car or a luxury sports car it's just blah. As far as tech wise they also have auto park for parallel parking or regular. Self driving just like tesla. And a HUD which I always want to have, tesla doesnt even offer that. So not sure what people mean when they say it's "tech" is advanced 😂 bmw with assisted drivers+ and auto park and 360 came and HUD showing mph,rev counter,maps or music like porsche also has is all the tech ya need. Tesla doesnt even have apple car play

A good vid, but think you were being very nice to the Tesla. It's a chalk and cheese comparison, the Taycan is style and quality, the Tesla is clinical, boring, soulless, minimal, it has no charisma or theatre, left hand drive only and, despite the price, the appeal of cold, soggy rice. Actually, I apologise to cold soggy rice here, but I couldn't think of anything less appealing. Now, you talked about the Roadster, several times I have thought of putting down a deposit, but my mother had a saying, "never buy a pig in a sack". That probably applies here as we just have no idea what we would be buying. Whilst I am not a fan of Porsche either, the look and feel of the Taycan is ten times better than the Tesla. Never mind increasing the speed, they should work on getting it to deliver a decent range!!!

That's the hardest task with EVs - getting the soul back into them. They were very good at the centre, so I was being a gent. The key thing was to experience the power which was ludicrous, but even though I do like cold rice pudding, I'm staying in the Taycan 👍🏻

madness to buy any of these unless you're mega loaded and can earn money while you're sleeping. pay your mortgage off first. save at least 300k for retirement. then maybe buy one of these. i could buy either today but drive a leaf lol..house long paid off. nice lump of cash building up in the bank. these things come first for me. a car is a car. been there done that. never again.
