I read a comment somewhere that said “Reading is just staring at a piece of paper with ink on it and hallucinating” thought that was kind of an interesting way to put it.

I have only Dune for my April TBR. I finally got to it and I'm about 200 pages in and it's phenomenal! I was also in a huge reading slump in March and I just said screw my plans let's read something I wanted to read for ages and I finally picked up Dune and it was the best decision for me. Dune is gonna be a great journey, I'm sure of it

For March into April I’m finishing up The Hero of Ages and Empire of the Damned. Once I’m done with those, I’m finally starting The Bound and Broken (I might be able to get through Of Darkness and Light), very excited about getting into that series. And in between books 1 and 2 I’m reading the Sword of Kaigen and after book 2 I’m reading the Song of Achilles.

I’m going to end up taking Shogun into April, not read it much in March. I think it’s great but very heavy so don’t mind if it takes a while. Only read Dark Matter by Crouch but Snowbound actually sounds really interesting. Tbh I’ve not thought about Dreamcatcher much, had no idea what it was about but sounds good and definitely has IT vibes. You keep adding to my endless list Mike 😂

I do the same thing, just jump out of fantasy and scifi for a bit and have a refresh. I recently read a non-fiction called Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson and was blown away by how much of it was like reading a thriller and how sometimes I was like no way this is real, this has to be fiction. Anyway its a good one, about deep wreck divers that found a U-Boat in the early 90s and this u-boat wasn't documented anywhere, so how do they find out what it is and a lot of it is also how risky it was to dive at these over 200ft depths especially back then. Its a great almost quick read if you're really looking for something different.

That list makes perfect sense to get out of a reading slump. I hope your mood is improved enough for the Sun Eater when you get to it, Mike. I really got to read more Blake Crouch (only read Recursion so far) and King (only read The Shining). I've got a few of King's in here, might read some of it after I'm finished with Malazan. My April is going to be a very exciting one, I think. I've only got 1 book planned, and that's The Crippled God. If everything goes right (meaning: I can keep up my rythm with Dust of Dreams, which has been great), I think I can start it in the first week of April, and maybe I can finish it in April, maybe not, but it doesn't matter. I'm very happy either way

I have given up on a TBR, I just call mine a "Wish List". I wish I had the time, energy and interest to read of all these. Its good to take a break and jump around to other things, keeps thing interesting. I've got a classic going (Jane Eyre) and mystery (The Round House) and have started on a Dune re-read (audiobook this time). It's all about having fun and discovering something new. Don't forget opening day is coming soon, gotta make time for game. Go Stros!

A new read for April is up in the air. The new reads I am possibly looking at are a modern ghost story, a Vietnam War fictional recount, a gritty western, or pick up the next Dresden Files book. I decided I am going to switch back and forth between Lord of the Rings and The Dark Tower. So my reread will be The Gunslinger though the newer edition which I have never read but won't count it as new since the additions are nowhere like the later version of The Stand. The designated 'Book 3' of Shogun will continue my 6 month first read of that book.

My April is mostly mysteries and thrillers: The Graveyard Shift (Jack Higgins), The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Agatha Christie), A Ticket to the Boneyard (Lawrence Block), A Taint in the Blood (Dana Stabenow), and Nobody Lives Forever (John Gardner, a James Bond novel). My fantasy and scifi extends to the following: Lost Tribe of the Sith and Revan-The Old Republic (Star Wars books), Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar (Edgar Rice Burroughs) and Foundation and Empire (Isaac Asimov). If time permits, I'm picking up Lonesome Dove (on your recommendation).

Due to a recent family loss, I think I have to push «The Fort» (City of Victory Trilogy #1) by Adrian Goldsworthy (Historical Military Fiction set during Emperor Trajan’s Campaigns) & «After Rome» by Morgan Llywelyn (Historical Fiction set in Post-Roman Britain) back from my March TBR until April. My April TBR schedule: «The Green Pearl» (Lyonesse Trilogy #2) by Jack Vance ((Pre-)Arthurian Fantasy) «Ash: A Secret History» by Mary Gentle (Alt-Historical Military Fiction inspired by the Mercenary Wars of the Renaissance) «The City» (City of Victory Trilogy #2) by Adrian Goldsworthy (Historical Military Fiction set during Emperor Trajan’s Campaigns) «Empire of Silence» (Sun Eater, #1) by Christopher Ruocchio (Space opera) «Idoru» by William Gibson (Cyberpunk) «Kings of the Wyld» by Nicholas Eames (Fantasy Humor)

I'm attempting to read 11/22/63 now to try and dig my way out, but I'm not sure if it's going to help😅 I've been buying too many books lately, i think that's the problem, every time i get a new one, the grass always seems greener on the other side and i don't know why. I have a terrible commitment problem with new series that i try because they're just not what I've read before (obviously) and i have the fear of being let down by the new series or standalone i Guess. (Im thinking too much about it😅)
