Saw this tour in Cleveland the summer after I graduated high school. I actually went with some friends and I wanted to see Rufio. I can honestly say that night changed the trajectory of my musical tastes moving forward. I just feel lucky we got to be a part of a genre changing tour like this.
the orig emo dis track and regardless of what TBS claims now about how it was greatly exaggerated, it wasn't. Jesse Lacey, his gf Jessie and John Nolan arrived at a party together. Jesse was extremely drunk and passed out in the kitchen. John and Jesses gf Jessie took the opportunity to go up into an unoccupied bedroom and John's bitch ass put his hands all over and his swinging dick up inside his best friends girl. I believe someone woke poor Jesse up and told him what was happening, he walked up stairs opened the door and Sic transit gloria. And Brand New was what was created. This seems pretty early for their feud to be over... it lasted a while (into DAGARIM) I was not there. I'm not 'friends' with the either of the bands. I have been a fan since day 1 and have attended afterset parties with BN and while on a Drive Thru Records showcase mini tour, BN came and partied at my best friends house and we were introduced to an early acoustic performance of Boy Blocked his Own Shot. Very friendly guys and acted like we were all friends at an afterset.
It's so crazy I remember listening to this exact video a bunch like 12 years ago and it holds the fuck up the audio quality makes me smile. It doesn't need to be perfect because brand new and tbs are amazing
RUFIO IS THE BEST. THANK YOU TBS FOR ALWAYS REMINDING ALL OF US THAT THERE WERE OTHERS MUSIC BACKBONE THROUGH ALL OF OUR ROUGH TIMES TRYING TO GROW UP. YOU ROCK ADA,=M
@@MrBrutaldeath95 "Tell All Your Friends" owns "Where You Want"--I will admit that Fred introduced some interesting guitar lines/chords, but lyrically and vocally he always just seemed like a paler imitation of Nolan's passion
correct me if i'm wrong, but the line "is that what you call tact, you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back..." was a line that Jesse wrote about Adam after the incident. Adam stole the line for his own song, eventually admitting his own guilt and this is a coming together of the two parties for a brief time before TBS went mainstream and brand new decided to tour smaller venues
To be honest, I'm sorta glad this is something that wouldn't happen anymore. I think Brand New tore out of their (this) area of the music map and landed in uncharted territory with The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. Jesse is so far beyond this now.
Well, the whole reason I love TBS is because in their albums, They worked up to changing their sound. In Where You Want To Be, They didn't completely change, they only changed a little, which it what I really love. Where, Brand News second album was completely different (Veto like 2 songs) and it took me a while to get used too.All of TBS album especially TAYF and Louder Now,have alot of meaning + They are more dramatic than BN.I don't wanna fight over them anymore because it's very debateable.
@MarcDshort108 I'm not sure. I think the whole dispute happened before this. considering these songs were written about. it. That's why they both share the line "is that what you call tact, you're a subtle as a brick..."
Little known fact Jesse Lacey infact used to be the lead vocals for TBS back on their very first album until he was later replaced by Antonio Longo, Lacey went on to form Brand New, and as you can see Longo was later replaced by Lazzara
i totally agree. tbs's first 2 albums where slightly better then brand new's. but then tbs just kinda fell off musically while brand new got waaay better.
I will disagree with this. Tell al your friend's is better then Your Favorite weapon a tad but TBS fell off when John left. After that the melodies didn't flow as well.
You should have seen Bert from the used back in the day. I was at an outdoor concert like 10 to 15 years ago and he wrapped his neck in the mic chord and jumped off of a pa speaker into the crowd and surfed im still suprised people caught him hahahaha 😆
Everyone is questiong why? Even me like thought they were all diss tracks Brand New wrote about John and Adam. I have a feeling that everyone was just drunk and in the same town said Fuck it. Play it once for the fans ever then tell each other "fuck off"
kind of confused.. i thought this song was about the feud between Jessie Lacy and TBS singer (dunno his name). so why are they singing it together? Was this recorded after the feud and their make up?
@@toasty973 lol, yes dude! I love RU-vid and the YT community and reply to people because they don't have a private message options; Plus, they are censoring anything real or of substance and pushing garbage to brainwash the masses, but hey, what's new? Hello, my friend, 6 years later. I hope you are well, and stay blessed as they thrust this Brave New World upon us!
This was recorded by someone with a mini Dv camcorder. Probably the band having one of their friends record it. And that's all that exists. Cause this doesn't even do it justice. Notice everyone in that crowd actually feeling that music?, living in that moment? Because the best part, not a single fucking cell phone recording any of it. I saw TBS in 2002....open for box car racer..... which was practically a 5 month chance to see live and I'll never forget it
this video jesse look akward on this the whole show i cant belive the story behind sister of jesse its all john nolan fault why jesse leave the band sad story.😥
@eatsleeprawr95 no 70 times 7 was about john nolan having sex with jesse lacey's girlfriend they were best friends all through high school and then that happened. he wrote 70 times 7 in spite of john nolan. then taking back sunday wrote there's no i in team to retaliate against jesse lacey.
Tell All Your Friends sucked xD. HAHAHA I know some fan boy would comment. That's super funny, I probably listened to TAYF 3x more than any other Brand New Album. And the fact that Brand New and Taking Back Sunday's First three album were good. After that, both of them sucked. Lyric wise, Tayf was clearly a master piece, every song on that album could of been a hit. Though, I did really like Your favorite weapon alot. The only thing I give credit too is Jesse can still sing good live....sigh
There's a lot to look into here, and I've spent quite a bit of time over the years trying to piece together the truth, unfortunately that will only be known by these two. Anyway, to sum it all up: as the song says they "were" best friends... And I truly think they still are at the time of this performance. It's rumored that this event wasn't as deep or profound as we all made it out to be, this is partially due to the fact that Jesse Lacey is a genius with song writing. Moving on, TBS singer bested Jesse at a party with "some girl" no one's gf or anything. So, Jesse, being the lyrical God he is, wrote this song. We just all made such a big deal about it and turned it into what it became. I personally find the lyrics at the end of The Shower Scene more intriguing, "...Go tell him how my wrist is sore, from pulling at your insides all night..."
+nesh116 Nolan f***ed Lacey's girlfriend... Another fun fact after Nolan went on to date Lazzara's sister then cheated on her. You should do your research Jacob.
+James Press you're wrong. Adam dated John's sister, not the other way around. And from what Shaun said it was about John making out with a girl Jesse liked.
+Jack Gray Shaun said John made out with a girl Lacey liked. Lacey says John banged his gf. It's all about who you ask. The truth is probably somewhere in between. By the way they are definitely not friends again. After this show they continued to talk shit about each other even though they have been on a few tours together they definitely never "made up"
