A question i would love answered by all the newer graders would be why they chose to go the same exact route as sports cards to determine grades. Centering in sports cards made more sense because 80%+ of vintage cards are off center because nobody gave a crap back then (cards were to sell gum), whereas in CCGs, off center, crimped, mis aligned cards are actually rarer due to better quality and production. Surface was a thing because old sports cards came in wax packs (which stain the back card), and bubblegum (which stains the front or middle cards), we dont really have that in CCGs, so not really a great criteria.

interesting question, chazz! i personally think those are just the criteria we are used to, hostorically, when looking at cards, so they continued to look at that. it is an established array of 4 metrics everyone knows. but i will ask them next time! 😁👊🏻

hey dirk. thanks for the kind comment! yeah, there were some stations i could not get a look at on camera, but it’s a reasonably sized office 😁👊🏻. i would also be interested to have a look at rudy’s facility. would certainly be interesting 😱. thanks! will do my best to keep it up! 🙏🏻

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think the PCG slabs are great. If I didn’t already have hundreds of BGS slabs I’d seriously consider them but I’m in too deep! 😢

Very interesting video Jürgen. Thank you! Looks like a lot of care is taken to rate every card. Did not know perfect fit sleeves from D.Shield could damage my Sorcery Cards, will certainly think on another sleeve solution! Aswell, face reveal! (First time seeing your face in one of your videos 😅)

hey carles! thanks for the kind comment, mi amigo! there indeed is a whole, very detailed and in depth proces involved grading the cards. it is fascinating! yeah, just did not work for me anymore, for several reasons, i can explain on discord, if you like. so last week i started doing vids without it 😁👊🏻

fun video. not often do you get a bts video of a grading company. they are doing a lot of the standards when it comes to authentication. its a weird space cause grading isnt exactly tied to ...card condition. which is why you would grade anyways :p think they may be a bit naive but seeing all the things i should. gonna come down to their marketing and who adopts them. if they can't get the key cards in their slabs then its gonna be all for naught. but very cool vid. thanks jurgen
