One of the best versions of Tchaikovsky No. 5, in terms of conduction, performance (special mention to the French horn, the clarinet, the timpani) and sound recording. But the best of all, as many comments here have already mentioned, is that each and everyone of these talented young musicians are enjoying so much during the whole performance so much so that I feel that they are not only making music, they are like making love!
I have already seen a lot of elderly Orchestra playing this Symphony No.5 of Tchaikovsky and I have already played it, but never seen an Orchestra with motivated, caring, passionate, elegant and certainly happy young people who play with a lot of pride, and did we see how they play? They keep eye contact with themselves to communicate, motivate themselves and with the Conductor too, it's impressive, it's impeccable, Congrats guys...
25 years ago we played with the same passion everyday in Venezuela at the Youth Symphony Orchestra. 3 years later the next generation came together with Dudamel & Co and the rest ist history 😉
Apparently this work sent Tchaikovsky in to severe depression, he had so many doubts about it. It's one of my all time favourites a masterpiece of orchestration, melody, intricacy, drama and emotion. Always send shivers through me when I hear it and often a tear of joy at the end. A brilliant and very tight performance by the orchestra.
One of the best performances of Tchaikovsky's 5th ever. The thing that made it special was the obvious enjoyment radiating out from the young musicians. The coda of this symphony is hard to bring off, but when you see joy of the faces of the performers it becomes one of the most rewarding endings in symphonic music. What made it for me was 42:43, the smile on the young violinist's face: brilliant.
Not only ithis one of my favorite Tchiakovsky pieces, with Incredible Sound, and interpretation! The beauty of watching this Orchestra moving in the moment almost looked choreographed! Perfectly in sync! Love it! Bravo!
Bravo to this talented group of young Europeans for a brilliant rendition of a renowned rendition of a great classical masterwork. I will be looking for more of the same in the future. Absolutely invigorating sounds!
Amazing!!!!! I never had seen this much of engagement, not only with the music, but among the musicians themselves in a such young orchestra! And the joy in their looks!! It gave me goosebumps from the beggining to the end of the simphony. I'm feeling very happy and hopeful now. Thank you guys for that!!! And...BRAVO CELLI!!
Thank you very much! We are very happy that you like this concert recording and that you have subscribed to us! At least twice a week we post a new video.
Bravo, maestro and Bravo, young talented musicians 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏This performance is not less that many other very good performances I’ve ever heard. We can see that they love this music so much!! Thank you and I wish you lot of success❤️
@@generatingideas Mariss Jansons with the Oslo Philharmonic in 1983 I believe. That performance launched both the maestro and the orchestra to world fame
the French horn solo in the second movement is the best I've ever heard. I do not know the name of this wonderful horn player but she interprets as she is written: with sweetness and a lot of feeling, as Tchaikovsky wanted it. I have listened to famous horn players playing this solo and I can say that the sound that she achieves is among the best. el solo de corno frances en el segundo movimiento, es de lo mejor que he escuchado.
There is so much emotion and life in this performance, it is amazing. They really feel the music. The passion of the musicians is tangible. Amazing nonverbal communication between the musicians. I feel like I am watching a love story. Thank you for a great performance. ❤️
Wonderful performance! We are so fortunate to be able to hear this during the Pandemic. I just noticed that the 1st clarinet has earbuds hanging around her neck?! I'm just guessing, but maybe she needs them during the tutti sections - especially the 4th movement. I played 2nd oboe for this 5th Symphony and during the last movement it's almost impossible to hear yourself play. Does anyone have any ideas?
Yes, that's exactly why, absolute correct guess and good observation! With this massive force of strings, all brass and woodwinds (and me at timps) were playing quite loud at places where it was needed to level up, so she put it in for protection. Glad you enjoyed the performance :)
Dear Ulf Breuer, thank you very much for answering Jez Carleton's question! After all, you were the drummer at the concert, so you know best. And even more thanks for sharing this video on facebook. Please, stay connected to DW Classical Music! 😊
Like European Union Youth Orchestra & Gianandrea Noseda, Chopin Piano Concerto No.2 was the best breathing I've ever heard! But now I can't see RU-vid anywhere!
The opening strikes me as a little too slow for 'andante' (walking pace), more akin to a funeral march, but the pace picks up beautifully from the allegro. Encouraging for the future when you see young musicians producing such a wonderful sound!
Such great music. Always this underlying feeling of pain and suffering in Tjajkovskijs (sorry for my Danish spelling) music which surprisingly works as an antidote for the same for the listener. I wish the world he inhabited would have been kinder towards him. Bless his soul and let us all enjoy his great work.
Funny thing I was thinking exactly that, like what kind of environment he may have lived in, where did he take so much beatiful inspiration, et cetera, those were hard times indeed. Regards from Texas.
I take issue with Chris Craker's comment in his book of introduction to classical music: Tchaikovsky is not a mere regional composer, but has a major classical ambit. And this spirited playing can be adduced as proof.
It's a fantastic performance. It's all a bit fast for my taste, but I'd say that the conductor is very wary of how exhausting this Symphony is to play - especially for the wind and brass players. Even with professional orchestras I've heard live (and recordings) the trumpet players sometimes overblow and misplay notes in the last movement. It's very difficult to get through the whole piece without some kind of mishap. They do very well! Bravo.
