This is Spanish for "what will be, will be." This is something you say when you are stuck in a hopelessly unchangeable situation, but have come to accept, or even embrace the unchangability of it all. I always liked this scene. While Black Adder always talked down to Baldrick, the fact that at this point in history he was willing to TEACH his servant maths meant he had at least some level of care/respect for him.

My favourite comedy with Rowan Atkinson. It's a pity he's better known outside the UK as Mr Bean. The Blackadder series' were in my humble estimation superior in everyway to Bean. I wish they'd do another series...

I would not say it is superior. I think Blackadder is not for everyone even though it is smart and well written. Mr.Bean comedy was for everyone. The fact that people of different cultures and languages could still enjoy Mr.Bean is a true feat in itself. If it can be enjoyed by everyone then the humour is absolutely genius.

If I want to watch a decent comedy I go back to the oldies, or even a select few from last decade (e.g Peep Show). Wouldn't touch the tripe they come out with now, especially on the BBC. A couple years ago I attempted to watch a new BBC 'comedy' and threw up. Never tried again since.

This is the comedic genius of Mr.Atkinson.In love with him since i can remember anything. They changed it from season 2 initially Baldrick was brilliant and he was stupid.Glad they changed it. One of the masterpieces of comedy with a stellar ensemble cast.Sadly this will never be recreated.:-(

This is Absotively my FAVOURITE scene from Blackadder. That Renaissance line is epic! Also because I have always had difficulty with math so I have always had to have had someone sit down and very, very slowly try to explain it. Okay, maybe not arithmetic which has a logic of its own but the Pythagorean theory? No clue to this day!

This was the very first scene following the first series, where we see the roles flip from Blackadder being the dimwit and Baldrick being the intelligent one, to the opposite. Worked much better IMO

I never realized this was so funny. Hahaha. I must watch more of this. I've only ever heard of it or seen it referenced in other comedies.

It's completely Blackadders fault. He didn't once say "How many beans?" He kept saying "What do you have?" And Baldrick correctly said "some beans".

@@satyamevjayate1601 I don't think it was supposed to refer to Indian people, more like some imaginary mythological creatures. It just sounds a bit ambiguous and odd now that we're more sensitive about racism issues

Not only did he ask: "How many are there" at 0:33, he also spoiled the answer the second before the questions. But i guess the Renaissance was just something that happened to other people.
