CART already existed prior to the 1996 split, it was formed by the 1979 split started by Dan Gurney's letter to USAC...what killed CART in the end was sponsors wanted back at the Indy 500 even though CART was the better series the Indy Racing League had the 500.

It worked fine from 2005-2013, and you still had over 43 cars show up, cars still went home.

Yep. Always was fun to see who would make the top 35 and be locked in next season. Guessing this changed due to team obligations to sponsors.

NASCAR has a problem if Hendricks JGR 23-11 and RCR leave that would really damage the sport all have to do is hold out a few races the drop in viewership would end nascar so if these teams “team up”

I agree, going to a NASCAR/Oval race in person would be better than watching it on TV. Plus, on top of that, you can get memorabilia from the tracks when you do attend the race in person. Sit in the front row, it's fun.
