WHY Is Stewart-Haas Racing Shutting Down? 

He acted as an ambassador for NASCAR. Him doing Indy was much more beneficial for NASCAR than him competing in Coke 600 cause it gave the sport a different audience to have curiosity about. And to say “ suspended drivers deserves a waiver” to me shouldn’t be a thing cause as much as people say “ Larson prioritized one race over your championship” I could say the same about a driver prioritizing a petty confrontation over their championship ( say Chase right hooking Hamlin) which is an act that is counterproductive to the sport.

I feel like Larson deserves a waiver

My heart is broken. I'm moving on to Trackhouse fandom. I already like their drivers.

This is probably why Nascar called the race on Sunday, so we could all be talking about the Larson waiver And it's just trying to take the attention away from Indycar

Larson trying for the double brought more interest to both races which means more eyes. So NASCAR needs to give the waiver because Larson increased ratings!

SHR leaving is very sad but not unexpected. Never good to see a competitive team as well as an icon like Smoke leave the sport entirely. They give a waiver for everything including suspensions! Why not Larson?

I get the argument about the playoffs but considering that Fox essentially forced nascars hand with calling the race on Sunday that should show who’s idea the playoffs and their implications were.

NASCAR promoted the double as a wonderful thing. Larson cannot control weather. It’s the Indianapolis 500. One of two of the greatest races in the world. NASCAR got more good than bad out of this effort.

Again easy fix, every full time driver with a charter is playoff eligible. No need for waivers, we get it life happens. Medical emergencies or the indy 500 with rain

The thing about Larson is that he basically wouldn't need a waiver if it wasn't for the whole "start every race" deal, and the rules for playoff eligibility were more in-line with 05-11 chase rules where it was just about the points; that's the level of season Kyle Larson's been having. Similar thing can be said of Chase Elliott last year; the fact that he was as close as he was to getting in purely on points in spite of the number of races he missed is like, y e a h. A driver having the sort of season where they could miss a race and in spite of that still be well within championship contention, but be denied because of a missed race is really a waste on all fronts. Which the more I think about it, the more the talk feels frustrating, because Honestly, we should get rid of the "start every race" rule, but tighten up eligibility to where only regular season points position matters. Other than Kyle Busch, all it's largely done is push a random driver otherwise 18th-22nd in points (and Chris Buescher, who was in a genuine battle to still be eligible in spite of winning in 2016) into the playoffs, only to immediately be eliminated. That and make the 2022 standings in particular pretty damn stupid.

Larson doesn't deserve a waiver he knew the race was going to be delayed and he still picked that over nascar you can't conpare injuries to this Larson volunteerly missed the race for the Indy 500 it's not like it's an injury or s suspension where you are literally not allowed to race while Larson had the option I'm tired of giving big drivers the do whatever you want treatment no you fuck up and miss a race for another race you deal with the consequences
