I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on RU-vid and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!

Donny, what I was going to suggest is when you have an engine fail like this, as soon as you get the cylinder raised a bit, sneak a rag or towel under it to catch any debris that may fall out of the cylinder or ports as you take it the rest of the way off.

Nice video, Beautiful machine, funny how they forgot to tighten those screws when building it. But that can happen. That about checking the crank bearings.....good tip. There are times you will hear someone say they rebuilt the saw.....or whatever and it didn't last no time before it gave out again. That's probably cause the bearings were baked too. Thanks

Ouch, I’ve seen this all too much as a certified Stihl tech, the machine leaves brand new and is not even gone from the store for an hour and they come back wondering why their machine won’t pull over. Some folks just don’t need to own gas OPE.
@aussiehardwood6196
@aussiehardwood6196 Год назад
Your meant to fill it with mix as a part of pre-delivery and explain that they need to use 2T oil at 50:1 in their unit. Citi-boi!! Presume that all 2T customers are amateurs until they convince u otherwise. One of the reasons people pay a premium for Stihl products compared to say online or big box store is that the dealer will offer them the right advice on how to best use their machines. So if a customer returns within an hour with a straight gassed unit someone hasn't done their job properly.

Last year, I bought the Schroder 9900x blower. It was hard starting. This spring, I took the time to fine-tune the carb adjustment screws. Now it starts on 2nd pull. I don't have a large lot but I have 2 dozen rose hedges and 3 fruit trees. Lots of debris that can be easily removed with the power of my blower. Two cycle machines seize up at the piston almost instantly with no oil. The bearings don't have time to get damaged, because they're greased. 4-Stroke, on the other hand, seize the at the crankshaft from no oil. Those you can usually free up with a breaker bar or forcing the blade around a few times, and they'll be OK. As far as these Schrorer machines. Why bother? I got a Husqvarna with the same specs and same price at Lowes. Plus they're a real company for decades, with parts available and a dealer network. Read the Amazon reviews on Schroder. The people that got good ones were happy. The people that got defective ones couldn't get a hold of the company for parts or warranty.

Do you have a video on running a snow blower without oil?

Dony, did you ever repair this blower?

I have one, and while it's a really good quality, it's too hard for me to pull the starter cord. With an engine this big, they should have a compression release, spring assist starter (like Echo E-Z Start), or even just a larger recoil assembly so you have more leverage. So I went with a Ryobi 40V electric backpack blower. The power is disappointing in comparison. But then, so is the run time. A tank of fuel would run for quite some time. The 40V Rayobi battery is too hot to recharge after you drain it. But I have no problem starting it! I assume Schröder didn't honor the 5 year warranty due to the owner's not using 50:1 2-stroke oil?

Looks a lot like my RedMax backpack blower. At least from the outside.

Funny... 50:1 is hand written on the fuel tank. It looks like my Redmax leaf blower.

Hey Don , did you ever find parts to make the repair on that 6400? I want to do the same thg to my 9900x unit, because Schroder is not honoring the 5 year warranty. I did mix the gas 50:1. It died after 4 hours of straight blowing on my 5 acer property. My 6400 using the same mix is still running great after 3 years of hard use

Great video Don! I’ve never seen a Shroeder before. Do you think it has a Nikasil coated cylinder?

They seem to be made by Yuzhoukee Power Equipment company so you should be able to find the parts from them.

Pretty sure they are the same as the echo. I just relaced a cylinder and piston for a bp580. Cost about $100 US dollars.

The situation here is that finding parts for this model. Hopefully if you do, you will comment where and what you were able to come up with. It appears that this company has at least three models of leaf blowers.

I love it when someone posts" suddenly locked up" but available for sale for $$$ on Marketplace. I saw one earlier this week. The owner KNEW what they had done, but still trying to pawn it off as" Don't know why it won't start". I am done responding to those ads. Total junk and I am done with them.

Interesting, I had someone give me a blown leafblower. I poured a little oil into the spark plug hole and let it sit for an hour. Then I put a metal rod through the spark plug hole and tapped the piston loose. Put everything together and have been using it for two years now.

That is EXTREMELY rare for a 2-cycle oil-mixed engine. For 4-stroke (separate oil) engines, it's quite common to free up a seized machine and have it run perfect.

What a shame. I know that owner is kicking himself. Good luck finding the cylinder kit! I hope you get a great price on it. After making the video, you could sell it if the owner doesn't want to pay for the repair. I'd like to have a leaf, twig and debris vacuum bagger. I had an electric one that I liked, but I guess gas would be good as well. That one was all plastic and the fan blades would clog and bind, but the fan cover had a clip to keep it closed, so it wasn't too hard to clear. It could also be used as a blower. Just switch attachments.
