No matter where you lived, when the DJ played this song on 80's night, the girls would hit the dance floor for this song and New Order's "Blue Monday".
The song was made during the Cold war and the greed is good economic depression of the 80s. From what I gathered it speaks to the individual sense of freedom and living life despite all that is going on.
They're touring now. There's no stopping pure talent. And yes. Ottawa's long hair rocks.😂 Video from the new CD. The Tipping Point. Check it please. I'd love to see your reaction. Thank you.
When this song was released I was a teenager protesting the nuclear arms race and the policy of mutual destruction of the USA and Russia. People had fallout shelters for when the walls come tumbling down, we didn't think we would see the year 2000...
I completely get your comment about how the video does not fit the lyrics or the title. But I will say that that it fits the song. To me, the video represents the perfect summer Saturday in the 80's. Everyone just doing fun things and enjoying a beautiful day. To me, that's what the 80's were...one long beautiful summer day that you never wanted to end. Lazy, fun and wonderful. That's the way this song sounds to me and it always brings me back to the amazing days of the 80's. If they ever made an 80's time capsule for future generations, this song would be in it !

Music videos in the '80s were different. Back then the music was better and more important than the music video. Back then different music videos represented an array of different ideas and not many of them were really structured to tell a story. We somehow evolved into an era where the music video has become more important than the music itself and, in some cases, the videos become a whole multi-million-dollar production and, unfortunately, the music is nothing anymore like it was back then.
