"We Are The World" gets most of the glory and rightfully so( hell it reached the top of charts in '85 ), but I always liked this response from Canada's artists and I'm not being, like, biased as a Canadian or anything now. ;-)

Thank you so much for breaking this down for the rest of us 💕 What a generous, thoughtful gift 🎁 👏 💖 I'm 65 and my husband is 73. We're Americans. Joni Mitchell is, and always will be, my hero and muse. Ever since I was a young teenager, teaching myself to play guitar, Joni's music has been a HUGE influence on me. Then there's my husband, who I met in my 40s, and who is (no joke) Gordon Lightfoot's #1 Fan. He has been listening to Gord, almost exclusively, for his entire life. We just went to what was his 40th Gordon Lightfoot concert last year, after having waited through Covid for it to be rescheduled her in upstate NY. It's just funny how we two old Americans each have Canadians as our #1 musical 🎼 heros. Thanks for the opportunity to express my thoughts and opinions 🙏 ✨️ ❤️ 🎶🎵🎸🎷🎹🪕🎻🎙💕

Some thoughts on this and the documentary (where this video version is from) - Burton Cummings is one of the best singers ever. He has so many different ways to sound amazing. .- Geddy Lee really gets it, maybe more than anyone else there - Carroll Baker's voice is so beautiful and powerful, you can hear it in almost every lyric. I had no idea she was that amazing - Corey Hart may be the secret son of Harrison Ford. This was the height of Corey mania. - Bryan Adams was a tireless worker, you can see why he had such a long career - Nice to see Oscar Peterson get some love from young people. He was a master - Anne Murray may know what she's doing more than anyone else there - Bryan was completely enamored by Joni Mitchell, it's really cute. Heck, everyone was, really - Dan Hill has such a special voice. - Neil Young saying well being flat "is my thing", really helped break the tension - Nice to see Mike Reno interrupt his camping trip to join in the group (What was he thinking? He looked terrible, when the night before he looked amazing). He does, though, have an amazing special voice. - I want Bruce Allen to negotiate my entrance into heaven. Really shows how he got the reputation being the best manager in the world. Irony, that was the first time he had worked with Anne Murray, after many run ins with her manager, and became Anne's manager 11 years later, he was so impressed with her professionalism. - But I could see what the famous huge fights were about between Bruce Allen and David Foster. It was all about giving Reno a bigger role then Allen was in. Good call by Foster. - Ya, Foster may have had the biggest ego in the room, but he got the job done. Really an amazing story to see it all come together. This so was so important in Canadian history. Terry Fox and this song showed Canadians that they really could make a difference and change the world. It is the beginning of the overwhelming progressivism that has taken over Canada in the last few decades. This song really changed me, and got me to see the rest of the world. We are so lucky to live here, though many in Canada don't realize how lucky we are.

Geddy Lee nails it and I thought David Foster was going to lose his mind when Mike Reno hits the high note.

Geddy Lee, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young, three future Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, all singing together during that second chorus. Crazy stuff.

Awesome Song, love it!! It has the same Concept of "We are the World", the American Version; another Great Song!! There's plenty of Food in the World for All Population, though unfortunately, FAMINE is extremely prevalent throughout the World, and furthermore, the Funds donated in Support for Africa, for both of these Songs, never went to the Actual Population... CEO'S, PRESIDENTS, CHAIRMAN/CHAIRWOMAN............This breaks my Heart!

I heard an interview with David Foster this morning. He had just watched the video with the interviewer, and remarked that he had forgotten how much of a slavedriver he was during this video. He made Neil Young do 9 takes for 1 line, and Joni Mitchell 7 takes.

David Foster is all about perfection. You either get it right or keep doing it until you get it right.

Can people just enjoy good music without saying which song is better. I for one enjoyed all three songs Do They Know It's Christmas, We Are The World, and Tears Are Not Enough, all were great songs in their own way with all kinds of famous musicians coming together.
