Peter joins this Tech20 to discuss technology trends in Learning & Development (L&D) - looking at how you can effectively implement virtual and augmented reality into your learning and training setup.
Virtual (VR), augmented (AR) and mixed reality (MR) are being hyped massively across the globe as game changing technologies. But what can you actually do with these technologies?
The armed forces have been applying virtual and augmented reality for decades in training and learning contexts. Now with the hardware becoming more available and budget friendly, the technologies are now slowly becoming part of especially training portfolios in the heavy industry sector.
This session will give you an overview of the benefits and limitations to these technologies and a recipe to how and where it could make sense to introduce them. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience in this field yet. Few have. We will make sure to include the specifics of what the technologies are, but also a quick look into research around the efficiency of training in VR.
During the session, you will be able make your own judgement of their potential - you will be able to try out a VR training, assembling a satellite receiver and an AR inspection from the oil and gas Industry.
