Into the Folds! In this video I continue exploring the Bifold from Intellijel. In my previous video this wavefolder was right after the VCOs, but this time I decided to put it at the end of the chain, right after the VCA. More precisely I routed Basimilus Iteritas Alter and Manis Iteritas straight into Bifold. The results were amazing! Audio with the amplitude variety fed into the Bifold brings us into some interesting sonic territory. And again I jammed on the Eurorack Minimalist Modular Synth together with Elektron Octatrack and Digitakt. And ZOIA! Yes! I made a little patch on ZOIA and it became my Ultimate Effects Box for Modular Synth! Such a great setup for a Dawless Techno Jam.

🌍 Hello World! My name is Ihor.
This is my channel where I share my experiences, ideas, reviews and tutorials related to Electronic Music Production. I focused mostly on Techno and House music. In my Studio on my Music Production Desk you will find a variety of different gear like: digital and analog synth, eurorack modular, drum machine, sampler, effect, mixer, guitar pedal, MIDI controller. Also software: DAW, Ableton, VST, plugins.
I am myself an engineer and I am quite obsessed with the Music Technology and Sound Design. I like making music without a computer. I like playing Electronic Music Live with my Minimal Dawless Setup. I love Eurorack Modular Techno and always keen to talk about the modular workflow.
I strongly believe that nothing can be better than a good Dawless Techno Jam!

I love putting folders after the vcf or vca. Also Using an envelope on the fold amount on the bifold rhythmically as a dope sound

I like to design a track, take the full final (stereo) mix, reverb and delay and whatnot included, and run it into the XAOC Minsk. I then take the mid/side send, run them into the bifold, and then return it to my monitoring/recorder+drums. It’s interesting, you should give it a try!

Hey!!! amazing techno break ! Please tell me how you got the side-chain effect ? Could you wrote the OT compressor or AH settings ? ;)

Hey! Well, this "side chain" was something completely unexpected to me. Happy accident. I don't recall exact numbers, but I will try to give you an idea. DT Compressor - I use it as a limiter. I often do that on DT. Fast attack (0), fast release (10-15), max ratio, no makeup gain, no eq. When it comes to threshold I put kick and snare together and then turn threshold until I see some little gain reduction. Done. OT Compressor - I use it on a master track as a glue compressor. Attack and release on default position, threshold at about middle (63ish), ratio at about 20, gain about 4-6, mix 100%. Done. And at the Analog Heat I had just "Magnetic Master" preset enabled. Nothing changed on it. Hope that helps!

Love your videos Ihor! When you launch the Kick from the Digitakt it seems there's a bit of side-chaining going on. Where in the signal path is that happening? On the Zoia?

Hey Laurent! Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate it. Well, I don't know if you are going to believe that... But I don't necessarily know when exactly happened with this "sidechain" thing. I didn't set it up. It was a happy surprise for me. Tho I have a suspect. I think it was Analog Heat + OT Master Compressor settings. Basically just before filming this I was jamming with all this gear. I ran main output from OT through Analog Heat to get some more saturation. Forgot to switch Analog Heat off before filming. Recorded everything through it. And I think it just oversaturated a little over-compressed signal from OT. If that makes sense. Thanks for kicking in!

@@IhorMedia Thanks for the reply! I've been thinking of picking up the Analog heat, that compression sounded great. Also do you share your Zoia patches anywhere? I'd be curious how you set it up to quickly toggle fx inserts.

@@laurentgratton6369 Also I used DT compressor as a limiter! Then OT compressor and then AH. When it comes to ZOIA patch yeah, I will share it at some point. So far it is yet "in progress". To quickly toggle stuff I used "Keyboard" module. But instead of sending notes I send CV values: - into the VCAs that send dry signal into Delay or Reverb - into the MIX of Chorus Then I just tuned the needed values to certain buttons. For example button 1 is always 0 - hence turns effect off. Button 4 is a maximum desired value for that effect. Buttons 2 and 3 something in between. Hope that makes sense!

Another ACE demo of your gear, I’d like to know your cable Midi and Audio routing between DT OT and Zoia as when you add delay , reverb it only affects the melodic sounds and not always the drums??? New to this so confusing but Dope sonics anyway Ihor u inspire me as do Surgeon, Jamie Blawan, Mylar Melodies, Oscillator Sink, Ricky Tinez and many more who use less gear to make bigger sounds Fantastic my friend 🎶🎶🌈🆒🕸⚡️🌟🙏👁☀️🇬🇧

Thank you Martin for your kind words! I appreciate it! And all these guys you mentioned are my inspiration too! So... Connections are quite straight forward. MIDI: DT out => OT; OT thru => ZOIA; OT out => Modular; Audio: DT => OT; Modular => ZOIA; ZOIA => OT; OT => Recorder; So basically ZOIA connected only to Modular, not to DT where all drums come from. Hope that makes sense! ✌️

@@IhorMedia thanks for your reply, advice as I have Big Sky reverb and want to use, would love Zoia but expensive, I also have a 45000 looper pedal which I want to put in chain so got to figure that out Can I ask you as I did Walker Farrell of Make Noise to only use bright coloured patching cables as can’t make out the Black ones destination jacks, now Make Noise always demo with coloured cables, my idea also is to colour code each signal via i. e CV= Green Gate= purple Trigger= Magenta or such Think this would help so many Modular enthusiasts Cheers Martin🆒🎶🎶🎶👋🌈⚡️

I always ask myself, What happens for example if you put a drum sequence in a wavefolder or the whole track? I can't try it because i have nothing with a fold input here. Is it kind of boring? I have never seen someone trying it here..

Word! There is just too much to gain from adding a wavefolder to the rig to ignore. Looks like I'm going to be sending those rad Canadians more of my money. I think the reason there are so many garbage videos on youtube is that you are hoarding too much of the awesome. There isn't enough to go around.

Man, wafefolder by it's definition is mad! But these Canadians has taken it into a different level imho. Imagine what happens if you plug its 2 outputs into L and R channels!
