The Technifibre TFight 305 RS is a high stiffness rated players racket with a high swing weight and good access to spin and power
This Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS review focuses on its court performance using scientific tests to measure its real-time court performance
This Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS performance review, and playtest test takes a deep look into the racket’s design, performance, tech, pros and cons, mechanics, and on-court feel.
As a physician I look at tennis gear and tennis technology a bit differently as I focus more on what the hard data shows me about how a certain tennis racket performs.
Tennis racket playtests are a great way to experience the tennis racquet in a real life scenario and give much more useful information as to the playability and feel.
Some of the main areas we cover in this Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS tennis racket play test, and performance review were:
- The weight of the Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS
- How does the Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS play on the tennis court right out of the box
- How does the construction of the Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS tennis racket affect its performance on the tennis court
- New Tecnifibre tennis racket engineering and technology explained
- Comparison between the Tecnifibre TFight 305 RS and Wilson Pro Staff RF 97

This racket intrigues me a lot. I know it's nothing to go by but in all the reviews I've watched, the sound the racket makes at contact is so satisfying to hear. Your observation about having a full shoulder turn on strokes aligns with all the match photos I've seen of Medvedev lmao.

As a Tecnifibre ambasador in the Czech Republic I own this frame and it's the most unforgiving frame but very pro stock oriented in the Tecnifibre line. It's the Tecnifiber's Pro Staff. If you lack power, timing and correct technique, this racket will kill you. It's actually more difficult to play with than with Wilson's RF97 due to the fact it's head heavier. But what surprises me is the fact that no other 305 g frame has such a big swingweight. I measured 340 SW on my strung stick, which is crazy. To be honest, I can't play with this racket more than an hour in full power. But as you mentioned - if you hit the ball in front of you correctly, it's a cannon. But if you feel exhausted and you need to buy you some time with defensive shots, this racket will not help you at all. Great stick though for everyone with head heavier taste.

@@FootDoctorZach How good is the quality control of tecnifibre? Do it have the same weight and balance, etc. if you have two or more rackets? What is the condition of the paint on the racket after 6 months?
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 3 года назад
I can’t speak to the long term wear on them other than the people I know who play with them find them to be reliable from racket to racket - you’ll never get two identical from any brand though , but their standards seem to be on par with the rest
3 года назад
@@boriz2813 Personally, the quality control of Tecnifibre frames is rather on the worse side to be honest and I mention that I'm ambassador of this brand. I own couple of TF frames and differences are pretty huge. For example my TFight RS 305 weights 312 grams, 7 grams more which is bad if you measure the overall balance, which is 333 mm (not advertised 325 mm). That's why this racket has tremendous swingweight around 340 (should have had around 333). So, if you're going to buy frame from Tecnifibre, have a chance to put them first on a scale and choose from the most identical frames. Otherwise you can get pretty different specs with different playability and feel. Best overall quality control has Yonex with 1 gram differences.
@boriz2813
@boriz2813 3 года назад
@ Unfortunately, I am not able to take the racket for a test. Looked at the racket in the store. Tecnifibre, compared to other racquets, had more weight in the head. What racket can you recommend with similar characteristics?

Very good I have the TF40 18/20 and 16/19 I will try this. I like the 18/20 but sometimes low launch angle trips me up when under pressure. The 16/19 came in weigh under spec in weight ie 307gms strung should be around 320gms so may add lead to increase. More nimble but hurts my wrist a little as hitting more topspin with it? I have been tempted to get this one but not sure how different it would be to the 18/20 but sounds like it might be a good compromise between the TF 40 ‘s I play with. Thanks again Zach

Hey Doc, love your videos! What are your general thoughts on the whole "minimal" or "barefoot" footwear trend? Are there any current shoes made for tennis that come anywhere near that style? Thank you! -Ian
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 3 года назад
Hey Ian, good to hear from you, been a long time fan of your channel- in terms of running I think if you have a neutral foot, run on natural surfaces and aren’t over weight then minimalist running shoes can be good for speed, outside of that I can’t see a lot of reasons to recommend them especially in tennis where you really need bulk in the midsole of a tennis shoe for lateral movement or you’d be rolling over your ankles constantly, also one of the biggest conditions I treat in tennis players is stress fractures and repetitive stress heel pain from wearing old shoes or just more stripped down models - a lot of people like the “ low to the ground” feeling which I get, but, I think there are enough shoes that compromise well to where you don’t need to be in an ultralight to get that feeling. I’d say in tennis if you were looking for a “ minimalist shoe” your closest bet would be the mizuno wave exceed tour 4( the most “low to the ground”feeling shoe out there right now), adidas Ubersonic 2, Nike vapor x, or babolat jet Mach 2 - I’d say of all of those I’d go with the babolat and if you have a higher arch and don’t mind more flex in the shoe, the vapor x- hope that helps!
@EssentialTennis
@EssentialTennis 3 года назад
@@FootDoctorZach Really appreciate your input and feedback! I was wearing the Vapor X when I hurt my foot badly a few months ago, trying to find a compromise between what I'm used to wearing every day (Vivo Barefoot) and big, clunky, traditional tennis shoes. Keep up the good work with your content.
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 3 года назад
Thanks👍 so now that I have some context if you like the Vapor x but need more support, as long as you don’t have a really wide foot the yonex eclipsion 3 is right in that tweener range of enough support but not too heavy, may be a good compromise

Sounds like my tf40 305 which i love/ hate. Amazing feel and stability on contact, rewards good strokes and forward momentum. But punishes bad footwork and the ultra low launch angle can be a problem. It's quite maneuverable just wish it came in 18x19 or 16x19. Will try this xtc rs next for sure and want to compare it with the similarly specced 16x19 Blade v7 (4p headlight, 305g, high swingweight)

excellent review. I like how you highlighted lots of important details. Interestingly, I would say Rf97 falls in that same bucket of frustrating when you are not playing often. Although RF97 gives you a bit of free pace moving backwards. Rf97 benefits from a good contact point as well, but it seems rs305 is more nimble and it is less work to get setup for a proper contact point.

me too. i have a red and black rf97 ( used racket deal) from its first release and its swing weight is lower than latest but static weight is way higher. it takes me 5-10 minutes before i can get anywhere consistent with rf97 so was curious about rs305.
@eyesonthetube
@eyesonthetube 3 года назад
So I took it out for a demo and played today. Was pleasantly surprised but also had a hard time with it. The launch angle is much higher than a RF and it is quite powerful. Full swings were flying long. I was able to adjust on fh with spin partially but I felt afraid to swing flat because it was flying. TW forums yielded suggestions to tighten up tension and use stiffer strings. On 1 handed bh, found it really hard to get spin. When I tried, I hit super short. My slice is probably my best shot, knifed slice, short slice, drop shot, curl away etc, and it was too powerful for aggressive knifed slice or drop shots (hard to control) Was super light and whippy, so great for kick serves and flat serves (I struggle with kick servers in RF), great for awkward shots, but too powerful and high launch angle make this hard to control. I could learn to adjust, but that's the characteristics of the racket. Not good or bad, just what is. Overall, very user-friendly but maybe suited for someone who wants a pure aero typoe of racket? Control wasn't exactly its forte. Maybe a tf40 305 would be a better option for players like me that want racket to have some control. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Yeah the racket just won’t give a lot of pop unless you have really full fast strokes but if you can hit the sweet spot with consistency the feel is really nice- just a different experience than with some others in its class

Hai, i am just wondering comparison to the tfight and Tf40, which one is better?
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 3 года назад
It really just depends on your swing style- if you have long looping strokes the tflight is your racket

Curious how this racket measures up against the TF 40 305? I bought that racket on a whim after reading all the glowing reviews and I absolutely hate it. It feels stiff as a board and not comfortable at all. Actually has aggravated my wrist.
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 3 года назад
It’s not a racket that you can just pick up and play that’s for sure- took me a long time to understand it’s playing and even then... I don’t have a lot of experience with the 40 but I’m told it’s more of the same

@@FootDoctorZach I’m curious how these rackets spec out under the 70 stiffness rating. Technfibre frames feel incredibly stiff on the arm
