Fun Fact: The story where a football team got relegated in the 1st year, promoted the 2nd year and won the league in the 3rd year has been done before in real life. The german football team "1. FC Kaiserslautern" won the Bundesliga season 1997/98 under the exact same circumstances.
I think Doctor Jacob's reactions weren't a disdain for football but a sad realization that nothing he did could ever get that reaction from Michelle and Henry. He would always be in Ted's shadow. Given his ethical shortcomings it's hard to feel sorry for him.
I like how Dr. Sharon’s true emotions come out when she’s “off the clock”. Shows how much she cares about those guys. When she was “on the clock” she was as all business. That lady did a great job playing her.
This game had everything from season 1 wrapped. The crowd chanting “wanker” (but not at Ted), George’s shorts, Nate’s decoy play, Sam hitting the winning goal, BBQ Sauce, Nate jumping into Ted’s arms, “The Dance”, and probably more that I forgot.
I loved Ted correctly recognising offside, Beard's stunned confusion and Roy's head nod of approval and look of respect to Ted that he called it. The checking of the fiver was hilarious cause even though I love Beard I would check any money he gave me.
The series finale is a masterclass on how to finish a show. All of the tie ins to the first episode and season are beautiful. You see how everyone's characters have developed over the course of the show. Honestly don't know if I've seen a better ending to a show
One of my favorite parts is Ted taking the imaginary ESPY back from Nate and tossing it over his shoulder because his demonstration was done and it was no longer needed. Genius writing.
This had me cheering like I was watching a real match! Bravo to the entire film crew, writers, & actors who made this series a reality. One of the best sports tv shows of all time!
I love how excited Nate is that it was "his play" that won them the game. The guy was just Manager for a Premier League team... where all the plays were his plays. But since Richmond is home and where his heart is, this one play means it all to him. This show is amazing!
