If you’re wondering how she survived and they didn’t. I work in crash testing for a major car company. The driver’s seat is by far the safest in every car that’s made because you plan for the average crash, since there is always a driver in the car, they are planned for the most.

What i honestly NEVER get in these cases is how on earth all accountability is placed in the hands of a fucking child (17y.o.) and nobody investigates what happened age 0 to 17 to create what this person did age 17. I honestly don’t understand how a person can be held accountable to this extent without any questioning of parental responsibility. If the child’s rights were violated in some way by the caregiver(s) who are legally responsible for her/him (cf ACE studies, backgrounds & childhoods of criminals..), how in earth would the child have the possibility of exercising their rights (they can’t, they’re a child…) or have any clarity with regards to this matter. Yes, she looks like a spoiled, entitled little brat. My question is: what are the family secrets? Is Mackenzie paying for them with life in prison? Note: I am not assuming anything. I am speculating on possibilities and simply wondering how on earth it is possible to not question these things in the case of a freakin 17-19y.o. I would question them in the case of 50 year-old! Not to say a 50 y.o should not be held accountable for his acts. But really- The research on all of this is there. Are we going to continue to support the passing on of toxicity in family systems? And put our heads eternally in the sand?

@@Walter_Sobchak_43 it's a cover up. Dominic Russo's mother is a lawyer and county prosecutor. She ran for judge a few years ago in same the County MacKenzie was tried, but inconvenient facts emerged, that Christine was given a pot smoking citation in the early 1990s (though expunged) and she had to call the cops to her property in the early 2000s, to arrest her angry brother who accused her of not sharing profits from his pot growing business. She failed to be selected as a judge over these revelations. So this was in fact a drug driving related accident. Makenzie, Domic and Davon drove into the quite industrial estate to smoke pot and/or possibly take magic mushrooms, they stopped the car for about 10 minutes, we know this from the CCTV, the time they entered the industrial estate and when they slammed into the wall. A weighing scales and some magic mushrooms were found in MacKenzie's coat pocket after the accident. This drug driving accident, however was covered up as it would reflect bad on Christine Russo, and people might ask questions again about her bother's pot farm. Christine might still want to be a judge in future. Also, on the last day of the trial, a surprise witness was called, none other than Dominic's pot growing uncle, a convicted felon, who claimed he overheard a phone call Dominic recieved from MacKenzie, in which she warned him she was going to crash the car with him in it. Who, I wonder, supplied the pot and shooms? I have no idea, I know no one who would supply drugs, oh wait...

She was probably diagnosed after she already had her license and neither she or her parents thought to re-evaluate that situation, which isn't too surprising given everything else about this case, i.e. her parents let her drive when she shouldn't have been driving at all because she was clearly too emotionally unstable and immature and reckless for that responsibility, how was she doing so many drugs and in a weirdly abusive relationship dynamic if there was ever adequate parental involvement , etc.
@expatannie6958
@expatannie6958 11 месяцев назад
I think the passing out diagnosis, if I heard correctly, was given in 2017, so long before the crash, and was probably just offered by the parents as an excuse -- but that wouldn't have applied in this case anyway: if she had passed out, then the pressure on the gas pedal would have let up and the car would have slowed down. Also, the guy in the passenger seat could have grabbed the wheel and at least tried to steer away from the building. That didn't happen here, obviously.

This case is actually a cover-up. Mackenzie Shirilla's boyfriend was the son of the county Prosecutor Christine Russo, who ran for judge in 2006 but was lost the election after it was revealed that her brother was caught growing pot on her property, Christine Russo also has an old citation for smoking pot from 1994. Her brother ended up a convicted felon over the pot farm (discovered after cops were called to Christine Russo's property, her brother was angrily confronting her, claiming she owned him money generated by his pot growing business). The claim that Mackenzie Shirilla said she was going to crash the car came from Christine brother, a convicted felon, who was living with the Russos at the time (Mackenzie Shirilla was also living with the Russos). Mackenzie Shirilla, her boyfriend Dominic Russo and a random person they met at a house party, Davion Flanagan, drove to the secluded industrial estate smoke pot. The time that elapsed between them turning onto the side road and the time of the crash indicates they stopped for about 10 minutes, before driving off high as a kite, and into a wall of a building. The drug taking in the industrial estate that played a role in the crash was covered up so to not embarrass Dominic Russo's mother, who has explained has a past record of pot smoking and connection, via her bother, to pot growing (the Judge in the Mackenzie Shirilla case was, by odd coincidence, Nancy Russo. No relation). That said, regardless of whether this was premeditated murder or as it was in reality, drug driving, Mackenzie Shirilla deserves the lengthy sentence she got. The only difference is that the premeditated murder conviction is unsound, it was sought in order to avoid Dominic Russo getting any blame, which in turn protected his mom from impertinent questions, such where did Dominic Russo / Mackenzie Shirilla get pot she found with after the crash (marijuana was found in her jacket pocket with a weighting scales). From Uncle pot farmer?

I looked into this case, found where the accident occurred. I am shocked she was found guilty. There was clear evidence this was an accident, wreckless driving but not murder. The claim she was planning this came from a convicted felon, on the other hand her boyfriend's aunt said they planned to get married, and friends at a party the night of the crash said they were in good spirts and were not arguing. A police detective testified, under cross-examination by the defence, that the car’s computer system data showed that, about five seconds before the crash, the steering wheel jerked right and then jerked left, indicating that Shirilla had been driving recklessly and then tried to avoid the crash. Also, I found the intersection and mapped out the last seconds before the crash based on the video footage of the crash, streetview imagery of the intersection and the building the car crashed into. The car veered suddenly to the right when she came to the intersection, avoiding trees at the intersection, so there was a clear indication of an effort to avoid the crash. Also, the break lights illuminated before the crash, indicating the break was pressed (though police say the computer did not record a break pedal press, the car does have an emergency break feature, but a manual actuation cannot be ruled out). It's also possible she mixed up the break and accelerator when she unexpectedly came to the intersection, seeing the trees ahead. It seems to me she turned onto the wrong road and did not expect an intersection. She was possibly high on mushrooms. A bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms and a scale was found in her coat pocket. She was unconscious for several days after the crash, and without a court order it was not possible to get a blood sample, so we cannot rule out the possibility she was high. All in all I am very surprised that she was found guilty of murder.

She (turned 18 3 days after the crash) didn’t live at her home bc she bullied parents and sister so badly. Chronic drug user. Extreme bully, my daughter was at the high school w her so this is all fact. She put up a GoFundMe requesting 75,000. Competing w the 2 boys gofundme’s for burial. Hers was out pronto, first. She’s narcissistic and very self absorbed. In court the consequence shocked her. She truly thought she’d get time served and go home from there. You can clearly see this in Her face timeline of the day. This WAS murder. 4 Counts of. Just bc her self absorption didn’t allow for the reality of consequences changes nothing. interesting.............. I don't know the actual circumstances or the relationship between all these people and why it was deemed a murder, I find it insane that someone would intentionally drive 100miles an hour into a wall, what evidence did they have that this was calculated besides the fact she never slowed down? Some people are shit drivers, and aggressive drivers, before their first accident, expecially young kids... and mabye she was high? Since they found mushrooms on her Whatever the case she definetly belongs in jail for a long time, she killed two people intentional or not. But yeah I haven't seen enough of the evidence to judge whether it was murder or not, that's an extremely strong word. Oh ok they found a text or something where she said "I will crash this car right now"..... well that settles it for most people lol, I bet she wishes she never said that, if it was an accident. Also, they said from the moment she pushed the accelerator down to the moment of impact she never took her foot off, I'd be interested to know how long that period of time was, it must have been significant for her to reach 100 miles an hour on a residential road. I feel like there must be alot of information we aren't getting from this video

Just curious if this was the model of Toyota Camry that was recalled for stuck accelerator. That happened to me but I quickly put the car in neutral and shut the key off. A young driver on drugs would not likely be able to react in similar fashion.

My “best” friend drove me and 3 other people into a tree at 60 mph on a dead end dirt road. In court, she said she was trying to commit suicide. I found out years later she was the one responsible for breaking into my apartment and cutting up all of my clothes plus a pair of boots that belonged to her that she left at my place and throwing them onto the roof outside. She was with me that day and saw how upset I was when I came home and saw all of my stuff destroyed. She was extremely jealous of my relationship with my boyfriend and even dated an ex I went out with for a short time. I didn’t put two and two together until years after it all happened and I never believed that she was trying to commit suicide when she hit the tree, I thought that was an excuse to avoid the embarrassment of not hitting the brakes when I told her to slow down because there was a tree ahead. I now believe she was trying to hurt or kill me and with 3 other friends in the back seat. So crazy. There is a lot more to this story like the car she wrecked belonged to the ex of mine that she was dating and how she consoled me as I cried when I found my stuff destroyed and pointed out that her boots were also cut up. I was 16 and I was on my own and apparently still very naive.

I don't get why they say she didn't brake, I just watched the video and the 3rd brake light came on just as the car hit the curb. You can also see the rear lights became brighter as they should do in a braking situation.

There's a distinct possibility she was abusing her boyfriend and killed him out of spite, intending to die as well to escape consequences for her actions. Davian was just another one of her victims, can't imagine what his family felt like after that. She might have killed him to eliminate any potential surviving witnesses after the fact as well.

I'm afraid it's known she treated him like crap. She was a mess, bad rep for being just nasty and horrible, and I understand Dom wanted out. She took it out on him, as she threatened to do on prior occasions. This was sad for all but no one who knew her, classmates and parents, was shocked to hear she did it purposely. This is my hometown. I didn't know about her until this happened but my kid was friends with the guys. They weren't innocent as far as less lethal activities, but they were kind, nice boys. And she was an awful wild child.

Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry and Criminology should be made mandatory in the academic curriculum of all the schools in the world. Sometimes, it’s not possible for parents to educate their kids on everything owing to various reasons and circumstances. This is one of the best possible ways to create awareness, reduce crimes and identify potential criminals hiding in children’s disguise. It’s not possible for law enforcement agencies and the justice system to deal with the overwhelming number of pending cases either. Awareness and prevention can reduce a lot of workload and tax payers’ money
