Maybe a peripheral phenomenon, but I remember when I was a kid watching children's programs. There was a trend - First the show would get your hopes up, but then the resolution would be disappointingly dull... You thought there was something exciting going on, but turns out someone was just trying to spook the main character, making a mess of things. But you, mesmerized, just had to sit there through bummer after bummer. Lucky I also had a steady supply of pen and paper to fix the ideas afterwards haha. Conspiracy theory: Designed to give you a reductionistic pessimistic "there is nothing interesting out there" mindset later in life perhaps? Then you will just depressedly do your job as you should and not make a fuzz.
at its worst, and certainly not at its least common, when hours and hours of trash are consumed by the non interacting viewer, television acts like a slowly induced lobotomy where the 'host's' brain is conditioned to passively conform to the hidden rules
does RU-vid count? because if it does then I have a problem, I like to think RU-vid is a little better than tv because you actively seek out things that interest you and due to the democratized nature of the internet there's a lot more edifying content on here than on your average tv channel, or atleast I think so, I haven't turned on a tv since 2013
I would say youtube and the like (all internet) can have a much different effect on the viewer if the viewer is seeking enlightenment. We can readily open ourselves to so many new concepts (rather than the ones that we are fed) but then we can see a thousand different angles on this, look into the history, the pros and cons etc of these theories..and of course use our own logic and an open minded approach to get a balanced understanding but not a concrete belief in it. Cooperate and state sponsored television doesn't is quite the opposite..and after a while away from a TV set it can be quite laughable when you return..at least it was for me!!😂
Antonio Sianez ive seen some people look at horrible violent videos on the internet...ive always wondered why would you want to see that out of all internet?? is that what they like feeding theyre minds with??
