"Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" was the first single Wonder produced on his own, and was also the first to feature his female backup singing group composed of Lynda Tucker Laurence (who went on to become a member of The Supremes), Syreeta Wright (who also co-wrote the song and later married Stevie Wonder), and Venetta Fields who went on to become a vocal coach. She was also a backup singer for many other artists.

The chorus, horns ad backup singers are a Barry Gordy staple. He took Little Stevie Wonder under his label early on and molded his style. Stevie went on to rebel against the regimented style of Motown and broke away, starting the trend of artists taking control of their own music,

Songs in the Key of Life is Stevie's opus, which is saying a lot given his insane catalog of incredible music. I had the incredible good fortune to see his concert commemorating the 40th anniversary of this album a few years ago. He sang the *entire album*, in track order. I sang along for 2+ hours straight, except when I was just too mesmerized, like when he did "If It's Magic" (a slow ballad about love that never uses the word "love", backed by just a harp). Bucket list evening.

Wow! Another great reaction to more of the music that has been the soundrack to my life and times. This track represents a couple of firsts for Stevie Wonder. It was the first track that he produced fully on his own, and I think it was the first time he used female backup singers as well. Oh, the tambourine is Stevie himself. He also played keyboards on the track. Since you've already done "Sir Duke" and "Superstition" I'll give you a few suggestions to further your explorations: "You Are the Sunshine Of My Life" "Higher Ground" "Livin' For trhe City" "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" "You Haven't Done Nothin'" "Boogie On Reggae Woman" "i Wish" "I Just Called To Say I Love You" Tioraidh an-drasta 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

They also had a duet of Stevie's Love is in Need of Love Today. It was when George was really young and it was at the famed Apollo Theater. He was nervous but they both did a great job. Stevie Wonder is a national treasure. It's hard to choose a favorite among his decades of hits, and others have made fantastic suggestions, but please add "As" to your list of Stevie Wonder MUST songs to react to.

For the last 40+ years, my album or 8 track or cd or mp3 or... collection has included Stevie Wonder's 'Talking Book' album & 'Songs in the Key of Life' album. Necessary for a joyful life.

This is a great Stevie song. My favorite Stevie Wonder songs are My Cherie Amour, I Was Made To Love Her and from the ‘80s, Loves Light in Flight. But you really need to listen to another old R&B song by the Isley Brothers called It’s Your Thing. So much soul!

The parallels between Prince and Stevie are so many. Genre crossing, multiinstrumentalists, decades of album after album all banger-heavy, incredible virtuosity, massive charisma, strong moral code involving faith, major struggles with their label to make the music they wanted.

Simply one of the very greatest singer songwriters ever. Soul, gospel, blues, tamla, rock, pop.. just everything. Man is a bona fide genius. Not bad for a blind guy

Yo'u've heard Stevie from the 1960s and 1970s, it's time to hear Stevie in the 1980s and 1990s. Check out "I Just Called To Say I Love You" (1980s) and "Tomorrow Robins Will Sing" (1990s) to see how this man just keeps going and reinventing himself decade after decade. His genius is timeless.

I loved listening to Stevie Wonder's tunes on the radio in the early 70s... especially when he played harmonica. Lots of performers play harmonica... but Stevie is a master on chromatic harmonica.

Stevie Wonder is so talented. One of the songs that got him started in the 60's was "Fingertips Pt.1 and 2". His harmonica work is amazing in that song. I believe you two will really enjoy it.
