@grahamcameron7628
@grahamcameron7628 4 года назад
Trace the inside corner with a sharpe pencil. Then, after removing the template use hand tools to finish. Usually a coping saw and sanding.

@@grahamcameron7628 This was 4 years go, I'm thinking I knew he did it using a chisel, etc. I probably posted it as a nice to mention thing.

Nice video, what brand of carpet tape did you use? I found Shurtape brand that says it's permanent, not good!

Can you do this with a piece of wood 1.5" thick?
@robertcornelius3514
@robertcornelius3514 8 лет назад
Just an idea, but if you do have to go against the grain, then I would add thin ca glue to that area of the work piece. I have to try this.
@robertcornelius3514
@robertcornelius3514 8 лет назад
Also, make sure you use a rubber bottom hold down that has a handle on top to push small pieces through the bit. This prevents a "grab" from throwing the piece across the room.

How did you make the template?
@DeanGrove
@DeanGrove 8 лет назад
Also,what I saw from a Luthier here on RU-vid. Use masking tape (less sticky residue) on both the template and the wood, put superglue onto the masking tape and that way you have a solid fixed template, without any residue.
@mickleblade
@mickleblade 8 лет назад
+Dean Grove interesting idea, I might try that, but there's masking tape and then there's masking tape. I've had varying results with the stuff in decorating projects
@mickleblade

So you don't use a starting pin then?

I dont f...... get this whole thing with grain direction.. I know what they're saying but I always have problem with figureout in what direction this grain really is.. any advices?
@robertcornelius3514
@robertcornelius3514 8 лет назад
It's easy. Just use your finger nail to dig in to the wood. Then mark an arrow using a pencil. Hope this helps.
@JoeC1977
@JoeC1977 6 лет назад
Here's what I got out of it - you want to route from a straight edge (going with the grain) to a non-straight edge (one going not with the grain).
