Everyone, LDS or not, should know and remember that the rapture is not in the Bible. It was an idea that was taught and preached by a fundamentalist preacher in the late 1800s.

The phenomenon of deep fakes is one in which people’s images are used to place them in situations and even making statements that never happened. And, one may ask, haven’t the premises of mormonism always been one kind or another of deep fakes. Especially the leadership. One could envision a broadcast in which Jesus is being portrayed as having returned and speaking to the church members and giving them orders and pronouncements as if the entire enterprise were real and not fundamentally deceptive.
@Richard_Rz

There are actually two raptures in the Bible minimum. Errors occur when people try to harmonize them into a single event and give up and eisegete Amillennialism or Post-Mil. 👍🏽.

This is CRAZY!! I served in Pusan Korea in 1992-1994. Han In Sang, a Korean General Authority spoke to a Korea-wide meeting and made it VERY CLEAR that hot tea was not against the word of wisdom, with one exception, Black Tea. Green Tea was encouraged. He also reminded the Korea Saints that Coca-cola was not against the word of wisdom. Every missionary in our mission drank all hot teas EVEN at mission and xone conferences. Why this never spilled over to Japan is a mystery.
@richardrobison

That was the position in Korea also in 1982 while I was there on my mission. Incidentally, Heber j grant had a weaknesses for his Aunt's coffee. So things obviously change from time to time for no sane or rational reason
@TEAM__POSEID0N

That's my understanding. Only black tea (Earl Grey, Assam...that kind) was prohibited in Korea back in the day, which made sense in a Mormon-logic kind of way because the less processed teas like green tea were not a thing in America when the standard Mormon tea prohibition went into effect. But something must have changed after Han In Sang was moved out of his GA position. More "correlation" I guess. I talked to a cousin who was a missionary in Korea around 2008 and he said that green tea was definitely a Word of Wisdom no-no and that this was something that the missionaries taught.

I completely agree with you. Green tea is so healthy. I need to start drinking it. I just recently heard that it is now ok to drink Coke. That was always questionable and you were kind off a rebel if you drank it.

Tea is a staple of the Asian culture. The church removing that is like telling them not to eat rice. It would not sit well with members in those areas.

I am not LDS but I am Christian and the torn temple veil is classically seen in a way as being a symbol of Jesus, or at least of what Jesus accomplished when he destroyed the power of sin that separates us from the Father. After his death the curtain ripped as a sign that direct access to the father was available to all because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Maybe they are seeing it that way? Just giving them the benefit of the doubt :)

You should be wearing your garments because they reflect the covenants you made in the temple, and because every rite and passage in the church is accomplished within priesthood authority. Your life is BLESSED as a member of the church very SPECIFICALLY on account of the priesthood -
@QUANTUM_QCD
@QUANTUM_QCD 4 месяца назад
I just started watching this so my point here may be premature.... I'm a never-mo and I understand that the bishop asks you questions and you get enough correct and pass, he signs your temple recommend card. So the solution to garments and tithing and the others is simple. You simply say "Yes" to the question and BAM, you take your signed card and go home. Whether you actually go to the temple or not is a different thing. I myself wouldn't go but I would say that I went. I might go if a kid or friend had a wedding, but that is the entire 100% reason for saying "Yes" to those questions, right ? Hmmm, just got to the part about #9 where the bishop asks "Do you strive to be honest in all that you do ?" And I'd give him a big ol' "YES !!!!!" because I am as honest as Joseph Smith
@Zodiacalesotericmatrix

Mormonism creates the best liars. So many people just lie/lied to get a temple recommend. So much for Bishops having the spirit of discernment as they claim to have. 🤔 they must be liars too...
@randyjordan5521
@randyjordan5521 4 месяца назад
The only temple recommend interview question you can't lie about it whether you pay a full tithing, because your tithing donation records are kept in the local churches. And even then, if you are otherwise attending your meetings, working in the church and contributing, some bishops will let you slide on the tithing issue.
@QUANTUM_QCD
@QUANTUM_QCD 4 месяца назад
@@randyjordan5521 My brother in law is a bishop and told me that he has zero access to a member's W2 income. He said the bishop is supposed to accept the answer they give regarding whether they are a full tithe payer - because that answer should be their own interpretation about what a full tithe payer is - be it 10% of your gross, net, leftover, whatever. And both you and I have heard stories about people who are taking out loans on their 24% credit card to pay their tithing because they believe it is fire insurance. They go into debt to pay tithing. Looking for your reply about that
@randyjordan5521
@randyjordan5521 4 месяца назад
@@QUANTUM_QCD I didn't say that bishops had access to members' income records. A bishop can estimate a person's income just by their vocation and the quality of home, cars, etc. that they buy. And I can attest that my older brother took out a cash advance on his credit card so he could pay his "back tithing" so he could attend his child's temple wedding. That brother is now divorced, and 7 of his 8 kids will have nothing to do with him, and he is advancing into dementia. He is on a list to get into a VA retirement home, where he will live until he dies. For all of his faithfulness and all of the money he gave to the LDS church over 78 years, this is his reward.
@QUANTUM_QCD

9:59 Is calling garments “the garment of the holy priesthood“ instead of “garments”the new equivalent of having to say “the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” instead of “Mormon”Are we going to hear that we offend God when we just say “garments“? It also brings to mind the fact that David a Bednar has been saying that we shouldn’t just call the temple “the temple” we’re supposed to say “the house of the Lord” if I remember correctly. I think he might’ve mentioned it in the October general conference. It could’ve been a talk BYU, I suppose, but I think it was conference. I don’t remember his exact example so I will make up one that is along the lines of what I heard him say… instead of saying “I’m going to the temple this Saturday “we should say “I’m going to the house of the Lord this Saturday”

I'm pretty sure the new focus on garments has to do with finances. Garment sales are dropping off... "Well, how do we get members to buy more garments?" The whole thing is silly once you look at it from the outside. The more you wear them, the more you wear them out, the more you have to replace them. You can't go to the temple unless you wear them, and you have to buy them from the church.

Garment sales is one thing being able to get a temple recommend is so set on you paying that 10th of your income is the other cash grab they are looking for. Along with that is all the volunteer work they add up and then calculate as charitable word the Church is donating.

From what I’ve heard, hierba mate is now allowed, despite the high caffeine content, but it appeases the South American members, specifically Argentine members. Why not expand that to green tea for Japanese members and potential members? I mean, Monster and other energy drinks aren’t prohibited (or discouraged) despite being packed with sugar and other harmful chemicals.

Green tea used in Japanese tea ceremonies is not the same tea that is usually consumed in America and Europe. The way it is prepared also is quite different than the way that tea as we know it is prepared. Green tea in Japan comes as a power. It is prepared in a bowl with hot water and is swirled with a small bamboo whisk. It is the offered to one’s companions to drink from bowls. The tea ceremony is not that old and was developed as a contemplative quasi-religious practice in Japan in the era during the Japanese were exposed to the Christian communion service primarily through the Portuguese who were allowed extremely limited trading privileges with Japan. One idea I might share is that the LDS allow the use of rice crackers and green tea in the sacrament service. Those things would have strong cultural antecedents in Japan with the tea ceremony, which is held in very high esteem by the Japanese people.

“What it leaves is, it leaves members perceiving one thing when reality is something else.” ~Bill Reel 48:31 Isn’t that exactly what you did to your listeners in your last reporting on the garments when you repeatedly stated that the lds church wanted to control “young women’s underwear” and continually only spoke about the “young women”? Especially when you distinctly and **clearly** know that in lds culture “young women” are ages 12-18, to which no female of those ages would be wearing any garment “underwear” for one; and second, you made absolutely NO mention (that I recall) to the fact that they are speaking to anyone in whom has been endowed, younger or older, male or female. This is exactly what you were doing, Bill, over and over and over again. You call the lds church out for their hypocrisy all-the-time, yet you can’t seem to handle me calling you out on doing the exact same thing since you didn’t allow my comment to remain to be seen by everyone on that video. You and the lds church are doing the same thing, yet you are not taking a look in the mirror and correcting your bad behavior. SMH
