*I haven't fly fished in about 6 years, and wasn't very good at it. This is my first time doing tenkara, the shadowfire 360 has been amazing! I used the 3 Tenkara flies, lost two in the trees and the third one I pulled several fish. I have used western flies as well and they work just as well.*
Don't break your tip in the brush or on your backcast. If you do, they TFO does not sale replacements tips. You have to send the rod in to be "warranty repaired." This will cost $35 plus shipping. Tenkara Rod Company charges $9 for replacement tips and Dragontail charges $6. Very easy fix to do. TFO is just ripping off their customers.
These Tenkara videos inspired me to buy a Tenkara rod. I'm a fly fisherman but new to Tenkara. So much fun! Here is the very first fish I caught using a Tenkara rod: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-guguKBcOlZ8.html
How about a vid by Patagonia showing /advising how one might be able to unstick a section that's been jammed in the wrong way? Yeah, I know, who's a muppet!! Any tips anyone?
If the butt cap will screws on and off, just take it off and the rod links can be pushed through the butt cap. You should be able to get the stuck link free.
