Two railroad maintenance workers seen me at the end of the video but didn't say anything, not even hello.... lol Lots of flooding around too and the highest crest since 1997 on the Ohio River.
I was stopped at a level crossing the other day watching a train go by and I look at them different now thanks to Shoestring. I was like, ooh grainers, I wonder if there's someone in there?
My prayers are with you in my heart for you to get better and start train traveling again. and to let you know I have lost 40 lbs watching the the things you eat and drink I even quit drinking all alcohol 9 months thank you and God bless you
Watching this just made all my panic and anxiety of the day melt away. Even with the constant "flat tire" sound, "clunk clunk clunk" I found this relaxed me. I now truly understand why you ride. Thanks Shoestring. (btw I'm the fellow that bought your harmonica and watch on ebay, still got 'em)
Thank you for all of your vdo, comments, and I'm learning about another man's life,. I wish you could message me I would love to treat you to a dinner, or lunch. I'm just across the Mtns from you. In Spruce Pine, NC . I LOVE OLD STEAM TRAINS, AND RR WATCHES. THANK YOU AGAIN, PLEASE BE CAREFUL, GOD BLESS YOU, FRIEND, THAT I HAVE NEVER MET IN PERSON.
Riden' the rails. I love this guy. Shoestring , you are my hero. You give me comfort when I'm watching your video's in my comfortable home on my 50" screen TV just listing to all your adventures. At 71 there is no way I could do what you are doing. God bess you brother.
i like these videos because i used to "hop" trains as a kid. there was a bridge the trains slowed down for and after that an uphill grade that went for a couple miles so you could grab on then jump off later. one time i suggested a group of us (4) try it and all went well until one of us got afraid to jump off. of course the train picked up speed after the hill and by the time that individual was convinced to jump we were some 12 miles from home. long story short, we got home real late and that individual (of course) had to mention the details of that day and there was all hell to pay for all of us. didn't stop me hopping trains however, saw it as a way to escape the world and relax.
old shoe string you have such an awesome life I wish I could go hang out with you but I am too old and to stoved-up but I can live vicariously through you stay safe good luck to you live long and prosper
Thanks for taking us for the ride Shoestring!! Felt like we was with you every step of the way!! Crazy where the train stopped!! But i think the one guy said " are u alright buddy" when you was throwing your gear off! Thanks for the trip can't wait for the next leg!! B Safe........
Appreciate how you show shots of the trains in your videos. Every place I would like to watch as the train is moving you show. You give a great perspective of what it’s like to be on the car with you. Awesome video!
There's something so therapeutic and relaxing about listening to the rhythm of the moving train while watching all that natural scenery go by. It's like you've got yourself a little slice of Heaven on Earth!
Hey shoestring love from Australia my brother. We can't ride rails here because we don't have the right kinds of cars for it, love your videos brother. Hope you film your trip to see your old man. Take care brother and be careful.
@@50shadesofgday64 She does not make videos, but does write-ups of her travels. She goes by Koala.I think your country is her favorite place to travel to.
That was fun shoestring, i almost feel like I'm there . I like all the scenery. Glad you're feeling better. I'll be waiting for your next video. May God bless!
Shoestring watching your videos brings back memories of when I was a kid my uncle used to hop trains just like your doing. He tagged him too. His tag was conrail twitty with the state of va as clouds. If you’ve seen them on your travels there hard to find now we lost him back in January of 2008. I still look for them.
I had to keep replaying this video many times because I kept falling asleep to the sound of the box cars that kept relaxing me! Haha! Then FINALLY I was able to watch the whole thing. I really enjoy your videos watching Jaw tooth videos brought me to your channel. I saw one video where he was playing a harmonica that you sent to him as a gift and that was so touching. You 2 gentleman are very amazing and I really really love your videos! Always, Thanks for sharing! ☺👍
Thank you so much for these vids I literally just wait around until you post one!! I love seeing America 🇺🇸 this way from the comfort of my chair!!! Thanks once again ❤️✌️ from England
I live across that river at the 37 minute mark. Ohio side of Ironton Russell Bridge in the video. Born there 1948. Have a 3rd cousin who lived up there in Palmer, Alaska where you made a video recently.
I was born and raised in Huntington and live not too far away. I thoroughly enjoyed this video for your perspective and seeing another POV of the CSX lines. Stay safe and have great travels!
I love watching trains. I'm within walking distance of the Chalco bridge in Omaha. It's a real treat everytime I see a westward freight train going underneath. When I'm walking home from work, I just stop watch it roll through to the last car. You're definitely showing the world a life perspective the world at large wouldn't understand. I love watching all that landscape go by.
May angels ride with you Shoestring, wherever you roam and always guide you back safely to family and home. I also enjoyed you and ya dad fishing vid, sure would have liked to tasted that meal.
You're just across the river from me. I'm a little west of Ashland, Ky on the Ohio side. I listen to the trains at night and it puts me to sleep. Just hop on over the Ohio side and enjoy where southern hospitality begins in Portsmouth (Franklin Furnace).
I always appreciate the videos and enjoy them. Helps now I am too wore out to handle the weather. Would love to ride one last time to relive a good time in my past. Good Hunting Mark.
Enjoyed this journey and glad you got to the Public Library WiFi to upload it. A long 5 mile walk into town on a sunny day, whew. At least you waved to the non-responding rail crew. A nice look at 2021 and how you were feeling. All the best to you.
great video as usual, thanks for posting, look forward to your videos everyday. great way to relax and see America... love your interpretation and knowledge. if those workers knew who you were they'd prolly have been, "what's up Shoe, good to see ya" but like many.. they were unaware of your legendary status and your huge following... eyes to the sky there eagles, falcons and hawks all along your routes..... NWP_LPB from California...
Ya know whats amazing to me is how few knuckles get broken on trains... The amount of weight a say...100 loaded car train has pulling on them knuckles is mind boggling... Hope all is well shoe great vid my friend
Thinking the exact same thing!! I'm sure they must switch the different positions of the train cars on different trips to balance it out possibly!! like putting the cars that were in the front on one trip in the back on another
This is probably one of my favorites of your vids, love the rhythm of the train. I can totally see the pull of the hobo life, so calming yet fascinating and beautiful. Hugs to you Shoestrings, stay safe.
Sounds like you hopped on a flat tire. My wanderlust tells me that’s the “clacking sound of freedom.” Every man has to find his own peace, right now I’m cooking dinner for my son, which is awesome. But there’s a part of me that would rather be on the rails. It’s like I’m caught between two worlds. That’s why your videos are amazing.
Glad to see you back on the rails 🙂 As always love your videos. Watching them takes my mind off my troubles. I envy you, riding wild and free. What a life. Nice new car lol. Safe trip my friend.
Since I have started watching your channel every chance I get I look for your tag on trains going bye. Thanks for sharing your freedom with us. Be careful spring and warm weather is coming.
@@Mental_Patient it’s not about money though. There are workers who make peanuts who would rat you out in a heartbeat. Making more $$$ doesn’t guarantee that person still gives a shit. 🤷♂️. j/s
I hope there's a part 2 because you came right by my house. I was looking for it. I'm across the river just before the next bridge up from Russell. Always looking at the trains wondering if you're on it. Safe travels
What are the odds? Damn! 😂 The slow head turn was priceless... I enjoy your videos! I love all things trains my whole life. I grew up seeing Santa Fe and Kcs on the Mexico sub in Missouri. Even to this day I “foam”. Much respect shoestring! 🙏🤘
Hello shoestring hobo this is Nelson you were wondering how people will come up across your videos I came up across your video just by chance hear on RU-vid and ever since I’ve been hooked I’m amazed of how much knowledge you have as to where you’re going on these trains I don’t know if I can ever do such a thing I’ll be too scared but I’m sure that’s how you felt when you first started so keep those great videos coming in and always be careful👍👍👍👍👍👍
I cracked up when the train stopped by those telecom guys. I mean what are the odds your car would stop next to them? When they looked at you as though you were an spaceman embarking from the train i got a good laugh! Great videography again Shoestring! Safe travels. I grew up next to the Ohio River and she carries a lot of water!
Yep it's called hobos destiny. Happens EVERY time it seems. Same with the train stopping at a road grade crossing and a cop is waiting for the train to move and you're trying to lie flat as you ever laid in your life!!! lol
I can completely understand Why You are always in a Happy and Good mood when You are on the Rails Just look at the Beautiful country You went threw on your Video it's Amazing country even in the winter months
I Check My Notification Each Day For My For My Favorite You Tuber To See If They Post .. Shoestring I Truly Love Watching Your Videos And Hitting That Liked Button . Shoestring Are In My Top Ten Favor RU-vidr .. ( Smile And Keep Posting ) .
Another great episode! The visuals remind me of my long-distance m/c rides through towns, on roads less ridden and along creeks and rivers not to mention the stealth camping. I can totally relate to your experiences.
String,, you got balls of steel brother 🙃, I give you all the credit 💳 in the world 🌎 I live in Ohio, between circleville and Logan,, enjoy your journey and many more my brother 🙃 Smitty out 🙃
If you are new to this channel, you get the idea, in those first 2 minutes . . Who you are, What you are doing, Where you are going. Great film work.Even a suspenseful ending.
That was a nice ride thru the countryside. Lots of flooding along the river. Take care and have a good one and we’ll catch you on the next one. 👍👍👍❤️🙏🏻
Copenhagen....taste like the smell of cow shit with a dash of salt. Right down nasty. Skoal fine cut is more like it. Just as expensive though. “Cough-n-gagging” did make a whiskey flavor long cut that wasn’t to bad
Enjoyed seeing the KATY sticker on your bucket. My uncle was an engineer on the KATY from the 30s. Grandfather was an electrician for KATY. Great-grandfather was a fireman for KATY. Died in a train wreck in the Texas panhandle. Thanks for more riding videos.
thank you hobo shoestring the video was very good for sight seeing and gives us watchers the sense of taking part in the trip ,, love to do this with somebody in usa or australia
I'm on ebay to find those railroad stickers on Shoestrings bucket for my guitar cases now. I got UK railways already, GWR.LNER. LMS.LSWR & SDJR. USofA ones would be nice. Beautiful Video Shoestring, that train in that setting...just beautiful. Thanks and blessings.
Hi Shoestring.👟 I enjoyed your video. I watched the one with the grain hole, now binge watching. Your so cool, and you have great memorabilia. Please be careful out there, and stay warm.
