The line judge who fell over when the racket lightly touched her back was so quick to think "I could sue him here and get some money". Disgusting behaviour.
It could’ve hit a fragile bone and she did get hit with the metal part so a human reaction would probably be a fall, especially for someone with her age
@@sarbasov it doesn’t happen often, but players don’t foot fault very often. How do you know they foot faulted and the linesman didn’t call it? Take Fognini at the French Open 2011 against Montanes. He couldn’t stop foot faulting, but the linesman didn’t give him any benefit of the doubt. They called at least 15 foot faults that match.
Anyone defending Serena here because she 'didn't say I Will Kill You'.... it kinda doesn't matter. She comes over to the lady when the referees have been called and says at 2:05 'Are you scared? Because I said I would hit you?'.... that's VERY clear in the audio. So she owned up to saying she would hit her - that is an outrageous thing to say, whether she said 'hit' or 'kill'. It was 100% the right decision.
The problem with tennis in general is the umpires are so uneven with their decisions. In the case that has just been in the news, Carlos Ramos is a good umpire, and follows rules really well, but other umpires don't and it then makes him look bad and also makes tennis players think they're being picked on, when it's just that some umpires didn't bother to keep them in check.
Yes, I don't know what he did that the audience disturbed him, but if they didn't have a good reason, he would be right. The Fans can't just interuppt the Player.
@@Tamago__ Is your first sentence a question or a statement? You do know the english language has periods and exclamation marks that should be used for the convenience of being understandable to another person.
The one guy who said "Shut Up" to someone in the crowd had things spiral out of control very quickly. This example plus all the other ones on this video just proves Serena and Billie Jean King are 100% wrong about men getting away with saying stuff on the court.
dc_hello_1 I don’t think he was in the wrong.. if you’re going to shout obscenities at the players you should accept the retaliation that follows. The official made the wrong call here and then got pissed because he asked for the supervisor. Shameful judging
Yes, I think that chair umpire was Bruno Rebeuh, and Tarango was right. That obviously was not an "obscenity", and in no way should that be a code violation. Then when he gets called out on his BS, the umpire decides to just inflame the situation further. Just another official in sports who thinks he or she has to make themselves a part of the action unnecessarily.
I remember hearing her saying the words "I'll kill you" the day of the match - the audio was much clearer than it is here on RU-vid. She's saying many things to her that you can't hear here. Either way she was clearly out of control. But even if she only said "I'll shove this ball down your throat", that was plenty reason to get disqualified. It's what you call an entitled athlete who needed to be smacked down to earth by reality - especially since she clearly made a foot fault.
I remember hearing, 'I'll kill you' as well- she had a full blown melt down- she said about 10 different things...and I'M NOT lying- why the hell would I waste my time coming to you tube to lie to people?!!! You even hear a fan call out, 'YES you did' after Serena says to umpire she never said 'I'll kill you'.
Notice it's mostly men that get heavily punished, so people claiming that Serena was unfairly treated because she's a woman are flatout wrong. Tennis is strict about rules, no matter who you are.
The line judge that "collapsed" when the racquet bounce off the tarp and tapped her in the back, that was so stupid. Im embarrassed as a tennis player of the one where he hits the the doubles opponent by accident after the double fault, thT was clearly an accident and there is no way that hurt. GTFO 🙄😒
So by your logic, If I shot at the sky and I kill a person who is in the 13th floor, is it an accident? What a moron, and the twelve person who liked your comment. He shouldn't have done that in the first place, just like Shapovalov never expected to hit the judge with the ball, that guy never expected his raquet to hit the lady. The overreaction is another thing, and that's arguably, overdramatic, but it doesn't change the stupid act of the tennis player.
Can you please elaborate on how can you just simply ignore the fact that it was an example (exaggerated obviously to cause a better understanding on my true point), to ilustrate the idea of: Both, tennis player and shooter (in my example) are GUILTY of doing something unnecesary that isn't by any means an "accident". If I throw a raquet, a ball, or I shot at the sky, there are chances that someone might get hurt. So, I repeat, isn't an accident.
Yeah, I totally agree. But what bothered me was the fact that everyone seemed to "almost" approve the incorrect actions of the tennis player. You should NEVER throw your racket anywhere.
+Serfo if you've ever played competitive tennis and are getting frustrated you know that urge to throw your Racquet will Creep up on you. I agree you shouldn't do it, but it happens all too often. The guy who fell down after being hit in the doubles match was milking it because he knew he would get the opponent defaulted and get an easy pass into the next round... Easy money. The line judge overreacted as well, come on, I've seen linesmen get hit in the balls, head, stomach ect, they keep going, cause it was an accident. He threw it at the tarp, not her. Yeah it was stupid AF but that linesman isn't fooling anyone
If any one is here after the Osaka game I got to say Serena was wrong about the sexism thing bc most of this video was guys and everything they did was a penalty and correct they didn’t get special treatment because there men.So Serena should have not said that clearly she was treat fair and every penalty Serena got was correct and had nothing to do with sexism.
Ivana Stankovic Yeah, what about that ONE male player named Roddick, as opposed to all the male players shown in this video? What was the point you're trying to make again, Ivana?
One day someone is going to throw a racket and it will end up in the crowd And the player who does that is going to get sued And it WILL happen one day
Mostly men that get DQ'd. Some were suggesting that men get away with worse than what Serena did at the 2018 US Open, but this video clearly shows that is NOT the case. Men get DQ'd and penalized for bad behavior too.
Paulafan5 highly untrue. Serena only called the red a thief and she gets a large fine while other men cuss at the ref and rage and just get small penalties
Verbal abuse is verbal abuse regardless of what is said. Serena wouldn't let it go and kept talking down to the ump. And, as I am sure you are aware, Serena's coach admitted to coaching, whether Serena knew what he was trying to relay or not is not the case, the ump busted her coach breaking the rules and issued a violation. If anything, Serena owes the ump an apology and should have ranted at her coach. The fact that she is sticking with her coach shows that she likely did know he was trying to coach her and only they know whether she knew what he was indicating or not. Where is your evidence of a male player swearing at a ref and not getting penalized for it?
lcorox bleach, 1. her coach admitted to coaching, 1 warning, 2. she broke her racket, 2nd warning, 3 verbal abuse.... she got fined for how many warnings ufucking moron.
Lost me at "male privilege". I have yet to see this privilege that being a male is supposed to bring me. As for the bias, where is the bias when Serena's coach admitted to coaching (ie. cheating) so the ump made the correct call and Serena kept bringing the issue up rather than take it up with her coach and/or the ump after the match. Pretty telling she hasn't said any more since finding out her coach confessed. In case you missed it, this isn't the only time Serena has had been penalized and in fact, there are numerous times that she argued with umps (male and female) and did not get penalized. She is known for being a sore loser and having a temper when not doing well and this ump is known for following the rules to the letter. Her fault for not doing her homework and realizing that this ump is stricter than other ones.
I don't know why they even had to say "white male privilege." Completely undermines any chance of making a successful argument. Anyways, don't cheat or be a jerk and you won't get kicked off.
I have to say i didnt realise this kind of thing happened in tennis but i am really impressed with the rules there are to deal with it; very fair and promotes good sport. Other sports should have more consideration for unsporting behaviour penalties.
I️ can’t believe that there are people who believe slavery benefits the African American community, and that the whites are enslaved . This is tennis, a sport where all are welcomed, just because you can’t stand the fact that a black women is up with the best doesn’t mean you can spew hate.
6:57 I have been playing tennis for 40 years, I have been a professional for 10 years and that man who threw himself on the ground as if he had received a brick on the head is just a coward for me !!!! I can guarantee that a ball in the head at that speed is really insignificant! if it goes in one eye or in the genitals it can be painful but in that part of the head it is not even felt especially at that speed! Very very noob/coward
7:17 honestly i think this part is really unfair for the player. ofc this is without context but by that clip i think he shouldnt have gotten the first code violation
4:49 Well, you can't blame him. If the strings of all of your racquets carried to that comp. breaks in the same match, there's nothing you can do about it except taking it out on them...
The 7:05 double match seems like reaction shot, and tarango shouldnt have been given a code violation for speaking against the crowd who were verbally abusing him.
The line judge having the racket brushing her back AFTER it hit the wall was a fantastic actress. Trying to have her handed a huge settlement check. Spare me. Mo money. Mo money. Mo money.
Samuel Gómez Rodríguez I believe he went to smash the ball in the net after the point and she ran to the other side at the same time and got hit by the ball.
Nathan Hu I'm a Canadian player, I know about this shit. In hockey, it's acceptable to get angry, that's why fights are kind of legal, but in tennis, it's obviously unacceptable to get angry. My reasoning is not shit, And if you're gonna try and prove someone wrong, do some research first.
The ball was traveling fairly quickly and it looks like it hit the nape of his neck which can be rather painful. Either way, hitting a ball after the play has stopped is completely your responsibility and the rules are clear that if you strike someone, you'll default.
Before all these peole are tennis players, they are humans. And as humans, they must behave humanly. It doesn't matter how much pressure they experience, or how frustrated they get, they must be punished if they release their anger in a way that would hurt another person. They all know the rules, the code of conduct - and many of these incidences are just misfortunes (hitting the umpire in the eye, hitting the ball girl as she ran across), but the players actions in anger was reckless and responsible. Penalty.
Serena Williams is like a third grader, when she senses that she’s losing she will throw fits and do anything in her power to win because she’s *BLACK or A WOMAN*
Dude thats literally a shit ton of people in this video. The reason people think this is sexist is because of stupid commemts like this where you badger her name rather then arguing the fact she was in the wrong and serena is treated differently because of her sex and race both negativelly and positively. If you think she is not treated differently then you are delusional and do not comprehen the reality of the world.
Theul. Every time she violates the rules it is always the ref being ‘racist, sexist or corrupt’. All these points are stupid, she gets treated like every other person who plays tennis. She just thinks she is so above people that she can do what she wants.
@@noahgorry1991 Im merely stating how degrading OPs comment is and how delusional it is to think a black women does not biases against her. Whether she was treated fairly or not in this instance I do not know
OK, the female line judge that literally COLLAPSED with the racquet bounced off the certain and then brushed up against her deserves an Academy Award. The curtain absorbed almost ALL of the force of him throwing his racquet and there is no way on earth that hit her hard enough for THAT reaction! Wow!
The video shows nothing, that's true. it ends too early but you can see in the regular speed replay that in the end the server reached for the ball in his pocket and was about to hit it when the replay ended. And the further conversation showed that it was about hitting the ball with anger, probably hit the girl with it directly or it may have been ricochet or even just hitting hard and close to the girl what scared her. It wasn't about it, anyway. It was about hitting the ball with anger during the pause between points which he wasn't allowed to do.
Michal L, your post was helpful to me, someone totally confused at what is happening here at all. But it didn't explain what exactly was happening at 8:08 in slow motion frame by frame. She was walking. Then she just started falling straight down like she suddenly was trying to play dead? There was no ball that hit her there in that shot, unless it was her knees or somewhere like that; but I have a hard time seeing something like that being hit in such a way to cause that exact reaction. It was almost like acting, and it was confusing. To be fair, on normal speed - you can hear a ball being hit a second before that. But even that doesn't seem to make me think that reaction is directly related.
The player was mad and went to hit the ball really hard into the net just as the lines girl went to run across and he hit her in the face from basically 2 feet away.
Hi All, I request your help. I need to know the name of the Tennis player at @9:55. This is for some research that I am doing. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
I'd like to see you on the verge of losing in a sports match for hundreds of thousands of dollars and see how you handle some adversity thrown into the mix. Not saying what they're doing is correct, but when you have that much money on the line and one mistake can mean the difference between getting next to nothing or being first, I think there's a little more pressure than you're trying to suggest.
