For the serpentine belt, to put it on the tensioner pulley at the end, you want to have it resting on the alternator pulley because if you do it resting on the tensioner pulley and try to get it on to the alternator, the wrench will get in the way of it.

This is the fourth video I have seen on this procedure. No one else took off the bottom plastic cover so as to guide the belt onto the lower pulleys. I don't know how it is possible to do the job only from the top. The videos that did it only from the top did not show how they did it. Not surprised as they must have spent hours getting it done. Great job with this video. A detailed video that left nothing out. Thanks.

As you’ve been told already, this was the best video on this and I watched it while doing my replacement. Took me less than and hour. Longest thing was to Jack up, remove passenger tire and set on Jack stands. The removal of the tire made this job easy! Great video and I’m now subscribed, Thank you.

Bro! Glad my tip helped you out! I’ve been telling everyone the same. Remove the front passenger wheel and it’ll save you so much time changing out that belt or even changing out that pulley. Great video!

Thanks! In my original video I made last year I removed the wheel but that video didn't come out good so I never uploaded it because the quality wasn't as great. There is the extended Hook tool that makes putting the belt on easier but I'd rather work with more space than get frustrated because that was my initial experience. Thanks for checking mine out 👍

Pretty sure I had this job snake bit from the get go… While changing my friends serp, the tensioner SHEERED at that 19mm/17mm bolt/dog/protrusion. I didn’t do the repair prior, my guess is the belt was replaced at 20k or 30k, the car has 48k (miles) now but sits out doors unsheltered so the drive belt was just totally whooped. I have never had that happen before, quite a learning experience! I’ll be making a tool specifically so this never happens again. Very frustrating! REPLACE OEM WITH OEM.

Exactly the same advice I was given to me when getting my Valve Cover Gasket done it was Pep Boys so they did that and the tensioner but sound didn't go away so I tooked it to another Pep Boys and they said it's the tensioner again which my warranty covers so I'll see how it goes
@Striker50_
@Striker50_ 7 месяцев назад
Pep Boys is ok, but I stopped going after my wheel almost flew off on the freeway because they didn't tighten it. One of the things is that they may not replace the proper pulley, they may have assumed it was the tensioner one which is why it continued making the noise. I would say it is an aftermarket one that failed quicker, but it would have at least been quiet for a while before it started to make noises again

The tensioner pulley will make noise as you step on the gas The chain tensioner only makes noise on startup for like 1 second

Thanks for the video. Mine only makes this sound after a cold start. Engine starts and a few seconds later the sound starts. Then it stops after 3-5 seconds. I am due to change it. Honda thinks its the starter and the fly wheel issue. Would the started make a similar noise?
@Striker50_
@Striker50_ 7 месяцев назад
You're welcome. The starter makes a different noise I've replaced it twice. If you're hearing that whining noise it should be continuous. Do you live in a really cold area?
@NikosRentas
@NikosRentas 7 месяцев назад
@@Striker50_ yeah. I'm up in Ontario Canada. We had a couple cold nights in the minus and it's been warmer with rain last several days. It started with the cold weather and it seems to be getting progressively longer. It does sound like it's coming from the left side of the engine but I could be wrong. The belt is squicking loudly though until the car is driving a good 20-30 minutes on the hwy. So I know it needs to be replaced along with the timing belt. About 200k km or 130k miles. Not sure what else it would be.
@Striker50_
@Striker50_ 7 месяцев назад
@@NikosRentas Man it's COLD cold up there. This Accord uses a timing chain, but one noise I experience at start up is in relation to the VTC actuator. It goes away after about a 1/2 second for me. There are some videos on it and is pretty common with Honda
