its not a weird relationship its abuse, and also marital rape, Celeste is mentally compromised and fearful after the abuse he inflicts, she cannot truly consent to the sex
Yes! People can respond to violence and threats in different ways. Many are aware of *Fight or Flight* but those are not the only options. There are also *Freeze* and *Fawn* Fawn means the victim of violence or threat of violence will do what they believe to be necessary to remove the danger, such as apologizing to appease the other person, submitting to sex they don't actually want, etc.
I also think that Celeste is going along with certain things to cope with her husband abusing her but domestic violence isn't so straightforward like most abusive situations. A lot of people think that it's always this stereotypical idea that it's bad all the time. People stay for a number of reasons and a big part of it is psychological abuse tactics. Celeste thinks that the violence is "okay" as long as sex comes after and I'm sure Perry is fine with that. Also, congrats Rob with England advancing to the EURO 2024 finals. I'm still salty as a French supporter.
Yeah the abuse to apology to sex journey is emotional manipulation imo. Also I would just say based on the reaction, most relationships that involve pain as a kink have strong boundaries, rules, and consent attached to it.
Stellan Skarsgård has 7 sons, 6 of them are actors. Alexander's son born in 2022 Gustaf's daughter November born in 2020 Bill's daughters Oona and Minou born in 2018 and 2023
I feel so bad for Jane and Ziggy. And I know Madeline is a little intense, but I love her character. I can't wait until you see all the twists and turns of this first season.
I don't think it's about whether she likes it. The sex after being assaulted shouldn't even be called sex. It's more manipulation and a show of dominance from him. It's another way for him to control the situation. 9:49
reese is fucking hilarious in this, its one of my favorite roles from her next to elle woods from legally blonde, everyones acting is so great alexander freaks me out so much every time i watch this show that emmy was super well deserved
I think it is SO toxic to call a kiss of 6 year olds a sexual assault. They don’t understand sex, they don’t understand exploitation for pleasure… This is the shit that makes me scared to have a kid… Everyone needs to stop implementing adult concepts onto children.
i get what ur stating completely but cocsa is a real thing, obviously a kiss i wouldn’t see as a big deal but u can’t deny the validity of cocsa, some kids do unfortunately know the concept of sex due to being sexually abused themselves and sometimes that leads to them sexually abusing other children. obviously that isn’t the case in this scenario but it is a real thing.
It's so weird to see men not getting the subtext of celeste and perry's relationship, any women that sees the scenes that we just saw understands the abuse and rape she's beeen sujected, and also understands the nuance of an abusive relation
As a teacher I am actually appalled about the family tree assignment LOL. I would never assign something so personal without knowing my students first. A better alternative is to have students draw their own family (ie. who I live with)
Avenue Q is hilarious it’s Sesame Street for adults but all the puppets have sex, do drugs, and deal with adult stuff. It’s great -what is Bryce wearing? Love the hat -rob could put me in a head lock with them arms and i wouldn’t mind 😂
When a teenage girl doesn’t trust her mom, the worst thing the responsible adult she DOES trust can do is spill her secrets to her mom. Then she simply has no adults she can trust anymore.
To be fair, Avenue Q for elementary school kids is not appropriate, unless there’s a pared down/censored version i don’t know about. It’s like Sesame Street but with explicit language and songs and subject matter. Very funny. Songs include : The internet is for p*rn , Everyone’s a little bit racist, it sucks to be me, You can be as Loud as the Hell You want (when you’re makin’ love). Definitely not PC early aughts stuff. 19:49
I'm on the fence about this one. I get why Madeline is upset about Abigail going to her step mom instead of her. But I don't think Madeline's anger here is about her daughter. It's her resentment that it was Bonnie she went to. 17:02
19:41 "what the hell is so inappropriate about this play?" Containing adult themes including a musical number called "The Internet Is for Porn", I can't imagine that posh WASPs would be too excited about it as a community theatre production
I think you have a weird read on Madeline. Maybe you’re not used to narcissistic parents and abuse but she’s a classic case. Most narcissists are charming and seem caring, but it’s never for anyone else but themselves. Also, as soon as girls get their period they can get birth control and don’t need parental consent, for many reasons. It’s really important that girls are able to make those decisions for themselves, not everyone has reasonable parents, and some are abused by their family. Plus, most girls need birth control to regulate their cycles and hormones. The daughter was being really mature to get on it before she ever even thinks about sex, to develop that habit. And clearly, with a narcissist parent who doesn’t listen to you, you’re developing a relationship with a replacement mother figure that is more interested in you as a person, listens to you, and gives real advice.
Damn, I forgot how good this show was. And I love Laura Dern but somehow I hate every character I’ve seen her play. She’s so good at portraying that WASPy bitchiness.
They've temporarily stopped TVD reactions while Zuff is getting his treatment. They will return to it once he's on the mend and returns. Same with Peaky Blinders. That's why these two are reacting to several different shows.
It's because there wasn't supposed to be a season 2. But the audience kept requesting it and season 1 did so well. Season 1 was adapted from a book or something. Season 2 was not. So...
