The IMF Webinar series celebrates the life and achievements of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa as the world commemorates 67 years of the first ever summit of Everest on 29th May 1953, with this webinar by Sujoy Das.
"Tenzing Norgay Sherpa - Tiger of the Snows" traces the remarkable and inspiring journey of a young boy from the yak pastures of Tibet to the summit of Mount Everest. Meticulously researched with historical images beginning from the Everest expeditions of the 1920s, Tiger of the Snows tells the story of the triumph of the human spirit over insurmountable odds.
A seasoned trekker and photographer, Sujoy Das feels most at home in the High Himalaya where he has been photographing for more than thirty years. Founder of South Col expeditions, he has introduced many trekkers and photographers to the magic of the mountains. His images and accompanying essays have featured in such eminent publications such as the Washington Post, Alpinist, Insight Guides, Outdoor Journal, Outlook Traveller and many others. He has co-authored and photographed for several books including Everest Reflections on the Solukhumbu, Nepal Himalaya - A Journey Through Time, Sikkim - A Travellers Guide and Lonely Planet - Nepal for the Indian Traveller. He has been invited to speak at the Mussoorie Mountain Festival in 2017 and the Bhutan Mountain Echoes Festival in 2019. He has a special interest in the history of Everest and the Sherpa community.
