Tergrid cEDH Aristostax, Tergrid God of Fright cEDH Stax Deck Tech 

Lower cmc? Tergrid is cmc 5, the haunt of Hightower is cmc 6... with an effect that buffs itself but does precious little else. I could see a voltron-mill thing maybe working there but that seems more difficult to pull off in mono black

So here is my question....tegrid vs tinybones from a cEDH standpoint. I am mainly a Mr..Bones fan, but many of their synergies cross over. Would love to hear your thoughts.

@@duckhuntdynasty6562 I mean, Bones is easier to get into play sooner, but Tergrid undoubtedly has a much stronger effect. Also, Tergrid is uniquely suited to take direct advantage of an effect like Chains of Mephistopheles, which would be an anti-synergy in most decks, including Bones. Tergrid automatically synergies with tons of Stax cards for that matter. Anything requiring sacrifices or discards. Even a lategame Smokestack can be good, since you uptick past 1 and everybody else is sacrificing multiple things and you can take your pick of stolen things to sacrifice when it comes back to you. Possessed Portal is pricy but also a great Tergrid card as well. If you can get Bones to go off quickly, turn 1 or 2, and have a big everybody discards or such turn 3, though, by all means go for that. That being said Tergrid is definitely the stronger card overall, unless you’re running Leyline of the Void. Of course, you can also run Bones IN a Tergrid deck easily. There’s a lot of ways you can build her. You can even go more aggro with a few effects like Grave Pact to recover from one-sided wipes.

@@ryangainey94 Tegrid may have a stronger ability on the surface; however, a 5 mana commander that gets countered or destroyed easily is tough. Tegrid hits the field, you are target #1. Tiny, not so much. I can see why chains would work better with tegrid, but I would not discount the synergy entirely. Time will tell which sees more play, but the 2 mana commander with card draw is very powerful and not to be underestimated.

I mean Mikaeus just by himself is a good CEDH combo win. Walking Ballista or Triskelion or any Persist + Sac engine for all the value.

Very underrated card. Especially great with her out.

They are just a bit too slow for the game this deck is trying to play in my opinion but I have seen other lists running them.

@@ElderDrunkenHighlander I think the abuse with Skullclamp and Gravepact might be decent. It isnt quite as explosive as something like Tergrid and Memory Jar though.

Definitely a viable reason to consider them if you want to lean in to that!

See my older comment? The hex parasite is a good card of course. But a lot of cards are good in Tergrid. Anvil of Bogardan plus Chains of Mephistopheles lock, Possessed Portal, Desolation, Smokestack, Grave Pact... all great cards. If you’re playing budget, Death Cloud and Awaken the Erstwhile can be great finishers. Any effect that has both discards AND sacrifices is supremely valuable, as well as anything with continuous value.

It's really strong. One of our best cards by far.

@@kennethberends9749 so, you'd say that Thassa's Oracle+ Demonic Consultation is a 5 card combo? make it 7 since you'll need a couple fetchlands to get the proper mana fixing.

@@dathore you still have to have the proper manabase to execute it, don't you? Which require additional cards in your deck don't they? Then yeah umbral mantle + Magus of the Coffers plus swamps is a 7 card combo. 🙄

@@kennethberends9749 I think you're the only man on the whole of magic that would count lands as part of a combo, considering you'd have to play those before you can run a combo, and you know, it's something you'd have to keep in mind while you're building the deck.

@@dathore i hope you realize swamps are necessary for the combo. 3 swamps minimum are needed to net +1 black mana from the combo but magus costs 5. the difference between thassa+demonic is that it doesnt take land types into consideration

You can copy the untap ability and tap it for 3 in between the 2 untaps to net 1 mana.

Screw that, just proxy this deck. Don’t spend 8k on a deck that’s gonna piss off your friends. Most high level/cEDH commander players prefer that everyone proxies anyways. I want to play against the best players with the best cards not the richest players with the biggest wallets
