People have forgotten that Malfurion is still a 10,000 year old badass, that even Demon Lords of the Burning Legion were wary of facing off against. Since Vanilla, Night Elves have kinda been part of the “cute” image of the Alliance. They are supposed to be 7+ foot tall, nocturnal savages, who had no compunctions about killing to protect their forests. It’s about time they put the fear of the forests back into the Horde
They were originally trolls but their current form came after bathing in the energies of the well of eternity for many years. If they continued to do so they would be more like the Blood-elves in body-design.
1:35 "Tell her... 'WE ARE COMING.'" THIS is the Malfurion that won the War of the Ancients. The kind that makes the enemy making sure they're wearing their brown pants just in case they run into him.
Those blue lights, at first I thought they were lanterns or torches. No, they're whisps. Literally the dead Night Elves standing with the living to protect their forest. God I love Nelfs.
Malfurion has always tried to remain out of the conflict, since his duties as Arcfdruid required him to teach and to lead people of the Alliance and the Horde. Illidan understood his brother's role and why he never took sides unless it directly threatened nature or his people.
The last time malfurion was this pissed was when the scourge invaded ashenvale. And he killed an army of ghouls with one attack. I may be horde, but it's good to see him back like this.
@@TonyFelony19 why would anyone want to be horde? alliance live in majestic castles, mountain fortresses, marble buildings, giant space ships, Horde: stick huts, sewers. lmfao.

And when there's no more ammunition, we'll crush their skulls with the stones that pave our city. We will fight them in the alleys, until our knuckles are skinned and bloody and our rapiers lay on the ground shattered. And if we find ourselves surrounded and disarmed... wounded and without hope... we will lift our heads in defiance and spit in their faces. But we will... NEVER SURRENDER!!!!! FOR GILNEAS!!!" Now they have another sacked home to avenge...I hope we see the Worgen out here with the Night Elves, Darnassus was every bit as much their city too.
Good to see the savage Night Elves are back, the ones that made even Grom Hellscream's blood run cold. They had been domesticated by the Alliance for far too long!
Honestly, we've never even seen close to what malfurion can really do. Dudes one of the most powerful beings in warcraft lore. Hes been nerfed though for story reasons i guess idk.
@@MalrickEQ2 Malfurion was able to hurt Archimonde, even if just a little bit, during the War of the Ancients. And it was Malfurion's ritual that killed Archimonde during the Third War. Anyone who can even so much as hurt a small pinkie on a demon lord such as Archimonde, is no joke. This is why Broxigar is considered one if not the greatest orc warrior who ever lived.
@@崩星咆哮炮 Blizzard finally remembered of the guy who back in WC3, bitchslapped an undead base with an army of sticks. Communicated with sticks. Used a stick to turn sticks into living sticks AND used a stick to command a bunch of Christmas Balls to give an oversized blueberry an epileptic mental breakdown.
It's arguable if thrall was stronger than malf. When thrall was at his prime they were probably even. Also an argument can be made for azshara if we still consider her humanoid.... But that's up for debate.
The version of whiny Malfurion in Val was the illusion of him created by Xavius. You could tell. In the instance when real Malf was talking to the shade he was much more bold.
Well the alliance officially won both warfronts and the faction war of BfA. Nathanos is dead and Tyrande is somewhere in the shadowlands superpowered ready to end Sylvanas. That looks like vengeance to me.

I hope everyone realizes that the "troll ancestry" was a retcon. And a bad one as well. Yea, but I get Blizzard writers have a lot of problems with knowing their own lore, or understanding basic scientific principles. As in, when they stated the Jinyu (fish people) have evolved out of murlocs (amphibians/frog people). lel.
@@Amphitera Not really, people for a long time had wondered if Elves and Trolls were related due to distinctly similar features. Both the Elves and Jinyu involved exposure to magic over a long period of time as well. Also to be a retcon we'd have to have known where Elves originated from before hand which we did not. We had origins for Gnomes, Dwarves, even Humans on Azeroth but not Elves or Trolls

@@DeathbyPixels I don't *want* to disappoint you, but let's just say that we already know the ending of this scenario, and it's kinda embarrassing for Tyrande and Malfurion.
@@georgethomas4367 "Kinda" is an understatement. Heck, the ending of this trailer is embarrassing for them. SYLVANAS was terrified at the thought of facing both of them together BEFORE Tyrande got her power up. Nathanos should be running in terror.
haha I've always been Horde so the Orc mission where Grom goes logging is my fave... but the Night Elves had 2 of my other top faves... that 'defend the caravan' one in TFT (Shards of the Alliance) and the 1st NE mission in ROC... cuz Tyrande looks cool on the cliff above the sunset and you get to kill both Orcs _and_ Humans haha never did like the 2 factions they went with in WoW... should have been RvRvR like Dark Age of Camelot ~ Malfurion should have forgiven and joined Thrall and the tauren, while the humans, dwarves, and gnomes, and then blood elves, undead, and forest trolls were the evil one or something
I guess he has the (Greater Entangle) version. :-P That would make a good ending move. However if target is not killed by (Greater Entangle) caster takes 70% hp loss.
@@anulire Nah, Illidan was too "long-term goal" to take sides; he never showed any interest in the ongoing faction war during the events of Legion, just because he knew there was a bigger picture to focus on. If he were in BfA, Illidan would probably just be wearing a shiny new bling necklace and scooping up as much Azerite as he could find.
To be fair, he's almost within sight of Teldrassil's ashes, where countless innocents were burned alive along with his ancient home. He's pretty pissed at the Horde, and doesn't care about the details right now.
@@JasonSmith-fe2fx The orc was a warrior like the others, not a peon. He had an axe and full plate armour and was ready to fight. He was also actively carrying out a military logistic operation. He doesn't classify as innocent under any definition. In contrast, most of the elves that died in Teldrassil were civilians, including children, who were trapped in the city during an undeclared war. You can't compare these situations.
@@JasonSmith-fe2fx As opposed to being burned alive? Both are horrible ways to die, but who started it? I think both side are long past mercy by now, especially Malfurion after what happened to his people. You also argued that burning Teldrassil was aimed at 'killing hope'. I'd also argue that burying someone alive in front of the only survivor also has an aim, which is to spread fear in the enemy.
They're just giving Sylvanas more troops making it HARDER to reclaim their home...I think their actions are reckless right now and are being based on emotions instead of logic. And I play Alliance. edit: changed it to a different word, as someone said, better suited to their actions.
@@darthsnow657, the timing of their actions is questionable indeed. The main bulk of the Alliance forces is assaulting Dazar'alor, while the Night Elves insist on attacking Darkshore. However, *childish* is a strong word. Imagine seeing your home burned down. Your loved ones killed. Man, I would also be *reckless* . And that's the best part, good sir! No. But it adds a strong dose of realism to the story. And I love it.

Lore wise, Malfurion is a great character, especially if you belong to the generation that played Warcraft III. It is very good to see him getting some well deserved respect after so many years being neglected or worse, used in a bad way. Also, it is worth noting that after so many poor written stories and bad plot choices in the last few years, Blizzard is trying to bring the Night Elves back to their original essence: Ancient and wild guardians of nature.
What we saw here is just a fraction of his power if we believe the books. Don't forget he with a help of Teldrassil and Nordrassil alone stopped nightmare in Emerald Dream in Stormrage book. Hold entire Darkshore alone not to be wrecked apart after Deathwing rised etc etc
I understand he was a badass in Warcraft 3. I’m talking about world of Warcraft specifically. Every time he is featured in wow, he is shown as weak, confused and in constant need of help. I understand he contributed during the cataclysm and with the nightmare. However, when it comes to fighting the horde, he wants no part in it, even if his lands and people are being destroyed. You see a glimpse in the invasion of darkshore with the wisp wall, but then is easily struck down by saurfang, even if it was a cheap shot from behind. He is my favorite Warcraft character, which is my I want to see more of him in wow.
(P.S. I would really appreciate it blizzard if you added night elf worgen for an allied race. The forbidden form needs to be unleashed in these dark times!)

So far the warfronts have been following the same race pairings as the Orb of Deception. Humans vs orcs, night elves vs forsaken. Maybe the next one will be trolls vs dwarves.
The thing is, those four factions made the most sense to pick, because they were the playables back in WC3. That meant throwbacks and easy unit and structure inspiration. not for the horde....for sylvanas big difference, buddy FOR THRALL!!! FOR VOL'JIN!!! FOR SAURFANG!!!!!!!! FOR THE TRUE HORDE!!! STRENGTH IN THEIR ARMS, RESPECT IN THEIR MIND, HONOR IN THEIR HEARTHS!!!
Sylvanas fights for the Horde. Her methods are not traditional Horde tactics but her reasoning is sound. As an nigh immortal Elf/Undead, her plans factor in the long term that most races don't see. Sylvanas realises that the only path to a truly lasting peace is a complete victory for either side. The longest peace between the Alliance and the Horde was the gap between the 2nd and 3rd War when it was a complete Alliance victory. All subsequently armistice between the two factions rarely last more than a year. And each time, as both Alliance and Horde grows stronger in terms of destructive magical knowledge and technology, the cost grows higher. Now that Azerite has been introduced, and it's destructive power being so evident even before either faction could properly research it, Sylvanas realises the destructive capabilities of either faction would cause mutually assured destruction. The only way forward to secure true peace is to move fast, strike now, secure Azerite and ensure the opposition will never be able to retaliate with any meaningful force for generations.
Malfurion is the single strongest being on Azeroth. He is an extension of the planet. It is about time they show him as not being pathetic. Also, Tyrande looks awesome when pissed.
