Yep. Giving it their all just beating the hell out of each other. This is the blood and guts wrestling we miss. Real tough characters who knew how to work the crowd, sell, showed real passion and emotion
@@MissouriRodeoCowboy Funny, considering that was pretty much the line ABOUT Harley Race. "That kid's doing too much! All of that top rope stuff! Nobody can believe it!" And Will Ospreay's raking in more money than Race ever did.
The greatest lockup I’ve ever seen at 4:01. Makes me think I’m watching two elks or bears go at it. Funk with the big swat slap after the first break up. Then back at it. The movement, the tension, the fight for power. BELIEVABLE. I’m flabbergasted I could pop over a lockup lol. Every lockup today they just stand there still. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT.
You see the love and real connection these fans have for both teams. You dont see that anymore in wrestling here in the states or anywhere in the world.
A pure brawl . Not a classic in wrestling terms but brawls were popular back when guys were tough enough to really lay it in . I haven't seen wrestling in 20 years but even back then guys were already working soft . I hear its only gotten worse .
Back then guys were generally in their 30s with years of experience in front different types of fans before they were trusted to be top hands .Now ? Not so much . Thats why wrestling is failing to connect with adults anymore .
This is totally true. Look at Dibiase his first WWF run...33 yrs old. Savage was 32 when he entered the WWF. Hogan was 30 when he won the strap in 84. A lot of these guys were seasons vets who went through the wars in the territories and/or in Japan before being trusted in the big time. Piper was about 32 when he entered the WWF as well. They were not just hot shotting green 23 year olds to the top...you had to prove it at different levels, in different territories
What did the Japanese think of gaijin wrestlers at this point in time? Had they seen enough of them to where the novelty had worn off, or were these Americans still seen as an attraction?
'Attraction' seems a bit dismissive of their impact. They were full blown main event level wrestlers due to their charisma and ability. Hansen is probably the single biggest Gailjin in ajpw history, and the Funks were without a doubt the biggest foreign babyfaces (for a time, the biggest babyfaces in the company. All of these guys were way more than just an attraction
