I've been minmaxing my shopping, mostly buy branded stuff from dunnes in bulk due to their discount e.g. toothpaste, shampoo, mouthwash etc. And things like meat/veg at aldi. I only buy cinnamon oats, harricot beans at tesco since no other shop stocks them and occasional clubcard deals e.g. 3 for 12 wheyhey meals are pretty good. For lidl i buy niche lidl specific stuff there, e.g. almond chocolate ice cream, mexican tuna salads and things like that. p.s. protein helps satiety for your caloric deficit, id suggest high meat + veg diet also potatoes are around 3 times more satieting than rice.
Re the tesco clubcard price on the deodorant. I strongly suspect this whole clubcard deal thing is a form of price fixing. They were rebuked and stopoed from this practice in the UK by trading standards there a few years ago. They would artificially inflate the price of an item they knew they were going to put 'on sale' by hiking the price to double or triple its RRP for a few weeks beforehand, and then 'slash it to half price'. They got away with this nonsense for a long time as the item had been advertised and displayed at the inflated price for a set period of time so they wre staying inside consumer laws but only just, as this was rightly deemed a form of price fixing, as they were selling it *half price* at a price that was its RRP TO BEGIN WITH! Eg they were putting the deodorant at say €11 a tin for a few weeks - then slashing it to €6.50, and saying that was half price. Unfortunately, like everything else in this country, there is no watchdog and no trading standards to put manners on them re this price gouging and fixing. You're getting nothing back anyway cos u might get the 'discount clubcsrd deal' but they're taking it off your quarterly vouchers. I used to get around €18 a quarter for them....last time I only got €3. A good calorie counting app is Noom Orla I find it very helpful and it works with hello fresh etc and slimming world.
