What a laugh, an "expedition." Oooo, the tires touched dirt. Nothing that virtually all cars can do these day and many if not most can handle far rougher dirt roads. The limitation is Tesla's ground clearance, leveled dirt road with no ruts, gullies, or washboards. You were on a road trip, nothing more. You failed to mention the drain from the AC, that is significant. Im all for electric but it's not ready, yet, for a real expediton.

Kyle and Alyssa, thanks so much for making these vlogs. I recently finally took my first road trip in my SR+ with my partner and two pups from Denver to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Your videos gave me both the information and confidence I needed. The absolute worst part of my trip was that stretch between Blanding and Page. I made the mistake of traveling it in the middle of the night, while it was pouring down rain, with jack rabbits and mice leaping in front of the car. Would not recommend. At least I was forced to keep my speed so low that range wasn't an issue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I was also inspired by those window shields you have for your dogs. I ended up just buying a roll of Reflectix insulation and cutting it to shape. Worked super well!

You silly non desert dwellers ;) here in Phoenix we have had over 50 days of over 110 degrees. Teslas are amazing. There have been days when my car was cooling itself in my garage. This summer I insulated my garage door and it made a difference

Great segment of your trip. You really didn't have anything to worry about from those elk in the Kaibab Nat'l Forest. They were just being curious and checking you out. I've camped there before and other than it getting really cold at night, it was awesome! Pre-covid that area is usually full of campers taking advantage of free camping.

I finally got to sit inside of a Model 3 and wow am I even more impressed with your packing skills. I'm a big guy and it was a tight fit but man was it comfortable. I thought the inside was bigger, but actually getting in there and it felt like I was in my buddy's camaro with more headroom lol.

I bet parking on some of San Francisco's side streets could generate that parking warning message too. In fact, San Francisco's inclines might have inspired Tesla to check parking inclines to begin with. There have been many runaway parked cars in that city.

Alyssa missed her chance to do a spokesmodel pose by the "Extreme Heat Danger" sign! 🙂 one thing to consider would be some short videos on tips when travelling with dogs, such as the booties to keep their paws comfortable, car heat shields, portable canopy or beach shelter for rest stops, etc.

I am new to your channel, when the cyber truck slots were available at 100.00 I picked up one of them. Watching your videos certainly highlights the range anxiety that seems to be a very real thing. I know your channel is about the EV experience but it seems like your running from charge to charge. It’s free or nearly free versus gas cars and that’s cool but it seems that it take a along time to charge at each stop. Thanks for taking us along on the ride and great pictures of the Grand Canyon.

I'm from the East Coast and I've repeatedly visited those desert parts of California in July. I love the weather extremes Earth can serve up. Out of Spec should drive Alaska's Dalton Highway this December! (At least as far as the lack of charging network up there will allow.)

Great video. I always wonder when Tesla will install covers over the super charger stalls like at the gas stations that are always in the camera shot. It's the ONLY gripe I have about charging when traveling. You will get drenched, froze, or baked it's inevitable. Love the series!! Look forward to the next.

This was an amazing trip. Here in the UK the roads are not so long. I can almost drive my Model3 for half length of the country with just one cgarge. To follow your trip i have been using two screen. On one screen i have RU-vid, and on the other the Supercharger Map from the Tesla site. One day will visit the USA and hire a Cybertruck and do what you have done.

Honestly people complain about doing road trips with Teslas electric vehicles because you have to plan out our route or what ever but … it looks like such a cool dope experience while your car is charging you can go and explore a little bit more

I have driven the Beatty, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon route. You missed the famous Beatty donkeys. Did you go to the Road Kill Cafe in Seligman? I drove the last part to Tusayen at night. Tricky for me on a two lane road, driving on the "wrong" side.

update, we traveled to Boca Chica to see the starship get built. & we got the S dual motor fsd last Christmas 🎄 😎 still have the cybertruck tri motor or 4 motor fsd on order, i got lots of solar & backup battery system to charge them both. i'm in TSLA too.

Looking at these Superchargers located in Nevada and Arizona makes me wonder why they aren't solar powered. Would be nice to have a lartge canopy over the chargers with solar panels!!

Probably cost versus benefit. I don't imagine they get enough cars to warrant the savings they would get from the solar panel cost. Whereas in Las Vegas first of all it's the first V3 supercharger I believe so sort of a image thing but also there's a lot of traffic in Vegas. Solar panels don't put out as much power as most people think. Especially when you compare it to what that vehicle is drawing at V3 speeds. If you were to cover your average house roof with solar panels you might get 20 kilowatts. They're pulling 250 KW

I love your journey and the tour around the states. Truely the best. After your journey could you share how many miles completed on this journey, how many times supercharged, total cost, if any battery degradation, and what your current mileage is? While on this trip I know you have the performance model. Would you had used lrawd instead for the extra mileage? Did you need the extra power, besides the times you were joy riding?

15,000 ish, we are well over 50K, free supercharging, and a bunch of super chargers. Avg 2-4 a day and it was a 2 month journey

I just love this series. Amazing road trip. I have a question for you. On long road trips i put the car in low regen and chill mode. Regen is better in a city than down a long hill and i just like chill for autopilot on the freeway. I do think it helps the range a little Have you ever done this or do you never use chill?

I do, but mainly for the dogs. Regen I always leave on full. It doesn’t affect range just helps you not push the pedal down too far, which in turn I guess does save some juice!

On my trips back from the canyon down to Phoenix I do use low regen because it is all downhill and it just seems ti get better range by coasting more Those tusayan chargers are blessing. A couple of destination chargers were there before and some plugs on light posts. I work for Holiday Inn and visit that hotel all the time. I also visit page. And that trip always requires me to backtrack to Flag I was Soooo happy when Tusayan powered up
