Tesla Model Y 7 Seat Option, Not Worth $4,000! Would You Buy This Option? 

I have the MY 7 seater as well, and if I'm not mistaking, I think my option was only $2,000 when I bought it (mid 2021). It is a TINY seat, but it is useful for me. Definitely a feature I like having and not needing than needing and not having. The biggest issue with the 3rd row seats is foot room, not legroom. If you slide the 2nd row up 3 - 4 clicks, there should be adequate legroom for most people under 5'7" (most kids). The issue is foot space. Because of that, whenever I have kids in the back, I tell them it's easier to just take their shoes off and toss them in the trunk. Owning the MY with the 3rd row does take a bit of cooperation from everyone in the family though lol. For example, usually when we deploy the 3rd row, my wife drives since she's only 5'4" and she likes to scoot the driver seat close the the steering wheel when she drives. That way I can sit in the passenger seat and scoot that up a bit too to make room for the 2nd row passengers. We only use the 3rd row for short trips, like an hours or less. I personally don't think that ANY suv has a 3rd row that I would want to be in for over an hour. I rode in the 3rd row of a Suburban last week and yeah it's 1 trillion times roomier than the Model Y, but I still wouldn't want to be back there for over an hour. When it comes to long journeys in 3rd row seats, minivans are the ONLY place I'd do it in lol.

While I bought a 2022 MYP my neighbor bought a 2022 LR AWD 7 seater. But when our SIL/DAU and two grand kids (ages 6 & 7) we swapped cars for a week. We drove all over St Louis over 5 days and couldn’t have done it without renting a second vehicle. So for our use case it was the perfect solution. The grand kids never complained.

It was not lifting up because the front seat was stopping the back seat to get to that point to lift itself. Love your feedback! Same experience here, only used a couple of times, but my daughters still likes it.

To me its worth it to be able to haul around 2 extra persons for trips under an hour. Currently on a MY 7 seater

These seats are perfect for my 2 and 1 year old and for the upcoming baby, but not for an older child. I noticed that right away when I tested the vehicle

The issue is that there is a void of 7 seat electric vehicles in this price range. So this is the only way to have an option to use 7 seats.

My kids love seating in the third row and I have friends who are small said it was okay not that bad.

Had no idea the Model S had a 7 seat option. What if there was a way for them to make a similar option in the Model Y and have the seats face backwards and use the trunk space for leg room?

You have to hold the release button until it pulls forward and up.

Finally someone stating the facts. The 3rd row is bad and not worth it. Every other youtuber keeps praising the 3rd row and I keep wondering!

They never sold the 7 seat version in the UK, I don't think people would accept that setup, its simply too tight to officially say it's a 7 seater.

At least it's back to an extra 3k now - 5/1/2023 MYLR 7 seater is more for people that don't use all of the seats daily, it's just an extra resource to have and use every now and then. But if you really want to buy one, you can make it work, just not as comfortable.

My kid 8, loves it in the third row. They should’ve pushed the third row further back

I ordered the 3rd row, for $3k, kids don’t want to sit back there, then they don’t get to go anywhere.

I got the 7 seater on both my y think about it when you go to sell it it will be a good selling point now it’s 2500 and the tell me that there is more leg room when you are not using the last row it’s just the way it’s configure third row is for short trip period

It's one of those it's there if you need it for a very short drive like picking someone up or dropping someone off. Sure if you have small kids it may work for a few years. 4k for that option? No for me. Also being that cramped I would not feel safe hauling my kids or anyone larger crammed back there as there is no margin of safety if the car's body gets comprised on the inside.

valid points considering ur situation. my entire family is small, so this works well for me & my family. i'm one of the tallest & i'm around 5'4". driver/passenger seats are moved quite forward, 2nd row is all the way forward. we all have plenty of space. =P though, i do agree, getting in/out of the 3rd row is a lil difficult, esp getting out. in another video i saw, i learned to put the seat belt of the 3rd row behind it when not in use. i would use it to lift up the 3rd row from the trunk. i would also reduce dents in seats when folded, and/or seatbelt stains (for those with white seats)

I have a Y and there's no way I would ever consider the 3rd row. No way it's a 7-seater car. Crazy that they tried to even sell this.

Well if you have to take 6 in the then what would you do if you didn't have the 3rd row? Take a second car? Ok, end of the video is your solution to 6 passengers but most don't have both. I have a model 3 and looking at a Y with 3rd row because the grandkids keep coming. My wife has an SUV with 5 seats so not any good.

As of today the cost is $3000 for the 3rd row seats, not $4000. Maybe it was a temporary price change.

Well you're not gonna throw 2 extra kids in the trunk of a 5-seater are you. That's where the 7-seater option comes in.

IMO, no need to even think, look at the length of Y, compare to other vehicles with 3rd row. I don't know why people never do any research before making decision. Amen.
