So great to see a MY video from someone who doesn’t start out with “WASSUP, GUYS”! I’m a 75 yo grandma who also loves techy stuff, not intimidated by it as so many of my friends are. Hope I have the option of having someone deliver it to my house but I’m not sure that’ll be offered here (taking delivery in Portland, OR). Was glad to see that your wife felt it was easy (or at least easier) to get into-was a bit worried that some of my slightly mobility-challenged friends might have a problem. Still waiting for my delivery date-ordered in December but changed interior color and added tow hitch so in April so probably went back to the end of the line. Oh well, I have learned patience over the years! Keep the videos coming, love this one.

I must say I admire people in this age can take new technology so well. I also ordered a Model Y long range with 18" Gemini wheels. It looks not bad in my opinion.

Thanks for the video Grandpa Ron. My 86 year-old mother is taking delivery of her Model Y in October. Like you, she ordered in January and was expecting fall delivery. Last week, she was notified that would be ready for delivery in 2-4 weeks. She's a snowbird, so she was able to defer the delivery until October; when she is back down south. Your perspective on Model Y ownership will be good for her. A definite "subscribe." All the best.

You are an awesome, incredible man! I’m only 61 and my spouse is 66. We love technology and our Model 3 that will be two years old in August. I watched tons of RU-vid videos, so I knew just about every feature.

Love your video, Grandpa Ron.... you express yourself well, so natural and funny at times! Your openness to new technology is great! It's amazing that in this lifetime, we get to experience a computer-generated car that with full self driving may drive us anywhere we want to go, be reassured of its safety and efficiency, while eliminating the use of gasoline thus contributing to a less polluted world. Thanks, Gpa Ron. They said I will be taking delivery of my MY this month. There was evidently a software glitch when I filled in my financial info of a local credit union. It didn’t like it. So I thought I was done. I chatted with Tesla twice after getting texts telling me to complete my pre-delivery info. Long story but the second time they hooked me up with a person to talk to and she got it sorted. Now I’m just waiting for the come and get it text/call. Anxious to here your story. Gpa Dave

Here in Europe we are waiting on this car to arrive when they open Tesla factory in Berlin, it's going to be a long wait, probably autumn of 2021, but I think I will order one and put around $1500 "deposit?". I just hope that they don't ship cars made in the US to European market earlier trying to gain ground on other manufacturers, and this car costs what is equal to about $75,000 here in Sweden, pretty expensive...

I plug my EV into the 220v 40A dryer outlet i'm not using. Gives 7kW tier 2 charging. Got EV Time-of-Use rates from SDGE for $0.09/kWh super-off-peak rates between midnite and 6AM. Use the on-board charging settings to limit it to only charge during super-off-peak times. Can get about 40kWh (160miles) per night, for about $4. That should hold you till your solar is online.

I would love the higher seat in your Model Y, but we’ve got too much into our Model 3 to do any trades. I didn’t know that I’d have arthritis in my right knee and there was no Y when we reserved our 3.

Tesla's big problem at the moment is not their designs, which in some ways are brilliant, but quality control which is non-existent. The paint job on Model Ys is simply appalling, would be a disgrace on a car costing $16,000 let alone $60,000. The paint is too thin - 4ml instead of 10; some areas are bare; there is dirt in the paint; crude attempts to clean this up leave buff marks everywhere. Panels and trim are incorrectly fitted. Hatches don't open properly. Windows don't work. The frunk latch shows errors. Rear seats are not level and squeak. There are rattles everywhere. Owners vent their frustration on RU-vid - three service visits in a couple of months with issues unresolved. I want their full self driving to help with frequent 300 mile trips, but I'm not sure I could cope with the consequences. I've been a Toyota owner for almost 40 years. I visit a garage once a decade for the few things I don't want to deal with. The rest of the servicing I do myself. Now if Toyota would just licence FSD and put it on a RAV4 Prime...

Nice video Grandpa Ron. I currently drive a Chevy Volt (2014) as does my wife (2017). We've been set up with solar since 2017. Here in Illinois the meter goes backward during the day and we usually charge in the middle of the night. It' very satisfying to charge during the day though, and know the energy is flowing from my roof to the car. I reserved a model Y RWD, with FSD in early January. Who knows we they will get around to making those. I've bought 9 new cars in my lifetime and always dreaded dealing with a salesman that was trying to get more money out of me. I'm glad to see that Tesla is disrupting the industry with the sales model as well.

Nice vid, Grandpa! To my mind, Tesla make factories....those factories make electric cars. Traditional car manufacturers are about ten years behind Tesla..but if they buy a Tesla gigafactory for $5bn , they can put their bodies on Tesla chassis and save themselves a lot of work...and potential obsolescence.

Well alright! You got it. No more gas! I have been looking at getting one myself. I to, also like the Y model. After some research, I live in the south, I have noticed there are not a lot of charging stations around. There are a lot that say “coming soon.” So that has kept me from pulling the trigger as I would like to see more charging locations. Reading that you can charge from a regular outlet but that is very slow and will likely only get you a few more miles on an 8 hour charge. Keep us posted on all your discoveries. Might help when I do get one.

Question Ron about ride height. Originally going to buy a Mod 3 but wife said it was to low. She didn’t like the effort it took getting in and out. So, I cancelled my 3 order and have been waiting for a Y. Tesla notified me they needed to firm up the order but I haven’t been able to put my wife in a Y to confirm the added height of the Y addresses her issue. You commented on this. How do you find getting in and out of the Y? Is it a big improvement over the 3?

Picked a Model 3 for my parents and they love it. Can’t tell if they love it more or grand kids lol 😆
