test ride TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD
My friend got himself a new bike and i had to try it!
My first road legal Motorcycle was a triumph and i had to take this classic bike out for a spin! the Triumph Thunderbird 900 is a small bike, but one not to be underestimated! I was blown away by how much power there is in such a small motorcycle and especially one that is nearly 30 years old!
If you are looking for a bar hopper or city cruiser and the Triumph Thunderbird 900 is a motorcycle for sale in your area, why not get yourself a great classic motorcycle for the job!?

I have a 1998 Thunderbird. Had it for over 20 years. Never a problem but always great fun. Love that exhaust sound. Immortal classic design.

I have a '98 Adventurer it's just a Thunderbird with more chrome. I bought it with 500 miles on it and I just turned 56,000 miles and it's still running like new. Lots of fun! $7000 well spent in 1999

I actually just got one last week. It had been stored for twelve years and had only 6000 miles on it. got it for 1600 usd! looks like a brand new bike after a clean and runs great after cleaning the crusty carbs.

The 900/1200's are great bikes. Undervalued here in the states. I have a daytona 1200 and the 4cylinders pull like a freight train from 4k-10k rpm. No complaints. Supposedly the starter clutch sprag, and coils are the weak points. One feature I like about the 90's watercooled triumphs is the interchangeability of parts. They use the same frame and parts can be swapped around. I ended up swapping my footpeg bracket with a trophy one for touring purposes. Love these bikes.

Thank's for your test ride 👍 I ve got one since six month, it is my first Triumph. I was searching for a Bonneville but they are over priced....and finaly I have found a Thunderbird with a good price. First I fall in love with the look, Chrome and metal, not a plastic bike ! And after, I falll in love with the engine ! It is soft at low range but come to life quickly and with a good duration. Love the temper of carburators even if there is some drawbacks. And the sound of a 22 years bike is much better than moderns bikes 😀 Principal disapointment are on the cycle part, the bike is long with an open steer angle and she is a little heavy. Fork and shock are now outmoded. To cruise it s OK and plenty of pleasure but if you want to ride with more aggressiveness on twisty roads and turns or in the mountain, it is a little more difficult and the bike become less nimble. I m realy in love with my bike, but sometimes in Mountain I would change for a lighter bike , an orange one with only one cylinder 😉 V from France

This bike is based on Triumph Trident 750 from 1976... 1991 Triumph Trident 750 was back but with watercooled engine and built in the new factory and with a new owner. 1994/5 The Thunderbird 900 was born as a hommage to the Tridents from the 70s.

I just took my 1997 Thunderbird out of storage sitting for 13 years. In the process of cleaning up the entire bike and doing full maintenance / tune-up. It was running perfect when I put it away. Sadly, parts of looks more corroded/pitted than I would have thought being in a storage unit. Should have used better covers and anti corrosion spray it. Hoping the visible mice activity was only on the top cover blanket and not in the wiring. Only known issue is broken seat lock that came with the used purchase. Cannot get it to release the seat, so trying to MacGyver a solution.

The delay in acceleration is easily adjusted with jet kit on that bike. Most older bikes are more powerful and tunable because they had no emissions. The peak of motorcycle design and quality happened around 2000.

I have a 2011 Triumph America, and love it but I also like the Thunderbirds. BTW, the Triumph cars were oil leaking junk. @mattcarroll5403

It's not the same company, triumph Hinckley have never made cars. The original triumph meridian business went bust in the early 80's. The name was bought and re branded, the first bike engine they built was the 900 triple tested in this clip. It's a massively over engineered piece of work, they're bomb proof , this was to loose the leaky reputation of the triumph brand. The new 1200 high torque engine is a masterpiece, unfortunately they have only put it in bikes for little people.
