Bought myself a 300ex when i was 12. Still have it and its now my wife's quad! Literally never have had any issues with it. The suspension is getting tired but it still rips and is a ton of fun!
I love the 300ex, it definitely has a big fun factor even though it’s slow compared to more full size quads and dirt bikes. I used to have one and I really enjoyed it, respectable power and reverse and e start are good features
I have A '91 Honda 250X, Bought it New, and still have it. I never been on a 300EX, but for A 250, mine keeps right up with our Honda 400's. I'd Like to someday get A 300EX. Are the shocks on this model still adjustable? That Might Help Out Each Different rider. Looking Forward to more videos on this Series!
One of the nicest 300ex I've ever seen. I love the 300ex, when I was a kid my father co worker had one and it was the first sports quad I ever saw in real life. That always stuck with me, and I always loved the headlight on the handlebar. It's the perfect bike, you can start out on that or you can run with the boys all day on the trails. That's a beautiful bike. Never seen that reverse either. My 89 200ex semi-automatic had same gas tank lol. Very jealous of that quad.
I have a 300ex, and man, I got it figured right out. It runs so good and will keep up with 400ex depending on conditions. It will easily 3rd gear power wheelie with me on it. I removed my handlebar cover and front light assembly and plan on getting a good exhaust and aftermarket plastics. Great video Pete keep it up. Hope one of you guys can do a full on build series with the 300ex because you barely find anything on them on RU-vid.
If there was a 300ex that deserves a refresh it's definitely the meatball! I'm not sure what the plan is with that machine going forward but for it to be safe to ride it needs the front end fixed up for sure
Honda 300EX… that was my first four wheeler ever. I paid $300 for it and replaced the broken piston and ran it for several years before finally selling it because it just needed too much work and wasn’t worth keeping. I kinda miss it… I have a Banshee now, but it’s not as much fun to ride around the yard.
The 300 EX is the descendant of the original fourtrax 250 X introduced in 87. Basically the same machine and not all that much faster. The 250 version had no handle bar plastic, but fenders were the same, same square tube frame and very quick. My first machine was an 87 fourtrax 250x grey and red i was like 14 years old i think. I would love to get my hands on one again and restore it for nostalgia reasons. At the dunes this year i spotted one, and asked if they wanted to sell it lol unfortunately it was the wifes and was in her family since new in 87 so she wasn't parting ways with it.
Thanks for the background history on the machine! I want to say I've seen super clean 250x's come up for sale a couple times in the "Vintage Awesomeness ATV/ATC" group on facebook. I will keep my eyes peeled for ya! 😁
For a little 300 she gets going that's for sure. If ever possible I would like to see you ride a machine like I have to see what your thoughts are on it. I have a 04 Can Am ds 650 Baja X and it's way different than just a normal ds 650. It's a heavy wheeler but mine fly's and it's only mod is exhaust system and jetting
I've heard those things are amazing to ride! They're super rare. I want to say I've only seen one in person the last several years making videos. I don't hesitate to ride any new machines whenever I get the chance. There's still a lot I haven't tried out yet
I wish we would've known it was at bad as was.. We could've easily ordered some OEM stuff and refreshed the front end. Unfortunately we didn't have time but we will be sure all TQ machines are proper OEM examples going forward 👍
I have one planned for the Lakota but didn't formally have time to make them for the Trailblazer and Blaster. I do however have a 3rd Top Quad focused video I'm putting together that will share some first impressions on the Blazer and Blaster 👍
Holy crap i didnt think yall would see my comment but i ended getting my own meatball haha cosmetic wise it looks worse than the og meatball but it still runs and ride good i just got a couple things its gonna need but one thing i am needing is the hood piece and i have no idea where to find one because they discontinued it
I agree, I wish this one would've had better front suspension because they have very comfortable ergnomics and plenty of power for all situations. For it's displacement it has to be the best in it's class 👍
I got a 2007 TRX300 with the black plastics.. such a better looking 300 than this old one, its pretty fast if you change the sprockets and pipe and one must extend the swing arm for more stability or you could possible get hurt on it..
I was riding at limits I was comfortable with but the front end bottoming out made it unpredictable at times which limited my confidence in situations. Thankfully we didn't have any mishaps during the series 😅
Too bad they don't make anything like this anymore in any company really. the sport quad segment for just the average rider is all but gone, gone are the days of being able to get a fun machine for roughly 3 grand, it's sad because most people could afford these, now during this day and age your stuck with a crappy loan have to spend a lot.
