Thank you. If you haven’t run the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail I highly recommend it. But this was beautiful. Especially the Chippewa and Paul Bunyan NF sections. I was up there last weekend and it was gorgeous. HEAVILY FLOODED and no cell service, so recovery gear is recommended. Definitely picked up some fresh Poplar Pinstriping.

I did the TWAT this time last year. Wonderful! I’ve made a WI border to border route I plan to run next year. Thanks again!

most of the techincal stuff looked like logging roads which would mean semi-trailer and 40+k plus loads.
@firstpathfrontier
@firstpathfrontier Год назад
Definitely logging roads for sure. There were some more narrower sections that I didn’t record that would not work with a semi-trailer.

Where is it located?
@firstpathfrontier
@firstpathfrontier 3 месяца назад
I started just north of Mora, MN and went counter clockwise through Pine River, north to Walker, west through Chippewa and Paul Bunyan national forests, up to Lake Itasca and around the headwaters, then south to Detroit Lakes and then back east to my starting point at south end of Foothills State Forest. It really is in the central heart of the state of Minnesota.

Do you have a video where you show what you carry for personal recovery gear? I think most of my back road driving will be solo in my Outback Wilderness and I'm trying to get together some stuff that would greatly reduce my chances of having to walk out to get help.

I haven’t done one but I do carry traction boards and have the Harbor Freight Badlands winch.

Hmm when i seen the thumbnail of this video i got excited and thought i found some great trail but after watching the video you learn its just a path some person has driven around the state and it is NOT a 400 mile trail threw the woods after all. It is just some path someone has taken that goes threw towns down streets and some dirt roads, UGH!
@firstpathfrontier
@firstpathfrontier Месяц назад
Unfortunately we just don’t have that kind of open vastness like out west. Forest roads and minimum maintenance roads are the norm. The thumbnail is from the trail and one of the more scenic sections. Still a great way to see the forest areas of central Minnesota and the surrounding areas. Fun is what you make it! Thanks for checking it out.

Will these two route connect in some way?
@firstpathfrontier
@firstpathfrontier Год назад
I believe that is Jake’s plan so they could all be run pretty much together.
@jakegroteboer5133
@jakegroteboer5133 11 месяцев назад
There's only 4 miles between the two trails. People will be able to link them up no problem.

The routes for this trail and others are available on the MN Adventure Trails FB page. I used Gaia to navigate.
