I like to add cream cheese to my Mac and cheese because it adds that richness and creaminess without over powering the cheese. Also just put the entire Oreo pack in the freeze, don't wet them. Just cold Oreos are good.
11:19 Rachel literally took out the butter melting container and put a bowl there and said that it was the best life hack😂 She didn’t realize that it was literally made for melting butter!
It's too small, I've always used a microwave to melt the butter because the little cap doesn't hold enough butter. I saw her do that with the bowl in there and thought "genius!"
Okay, I worked at an ice cream shop-- interesting fact: ice cream sandwhiches are made with HARD cookies and the moisture from the ice cream in the freezer is what makes them soft!
When it comes to mac and cheese, I usually add some evaporated milk instead of regular milk. It makes a much richer tasting meal and it has that cheese sauce quality you were looking for.
I’ve done the sour cream and Mac and cheese thing since I was a kid, I decided one day to experiment and made something delicious and I’ve eaten it that way since but I don’t add that much sour cream. I make the Mac and cheese as normal but instead of adding all the milk I do half milk half sour cream (sometimes even less sour cream if I want it to be a bit creamier) and I find that to be a good balance and it doesn’t take away a ton of the cheesy-ness. So if any wants to try it I would recommend doing half the milk it says and adding the sour cream to your liking.
I do not like the taste of milk and can be sensitive to too much dairy so I never keep milk around. I did the sour cream hack on a whim on a desperate day where I just wanted Mac and cheese. I loved it. That being said I used the cheddar vs the white cheddar and I believed added some freshly grated cheddar cheese. Now that’s the only way I make it!
As a kid I loved the double, but then I became like an adult or something and prefer the cookie part so yeah, the thins are second best. First best are the fudge covered (with two cookies, not that weird fudge covered with just one cookie).
Noodles with just sour cream and Parmesan cheese is like, a whole meal in my house. We used to beg my mom to make us sour cream noodles when we were kids! My sister and I also can and do eat whole spoonfuls of sour cream straight from the tub, though, so... we might be a little biased.
Adding egg to a mashed potatoes "hack" - my grandmother used to do this every time and I assume she's not the one who invented it 🙃 She's 85 so it's probably not so much a hack but an old recipe (in some places at least) My mom stopped adding the egg since I was born, to avoid any risks of using the raw egg. Love your videos, Rachel! They are so sweet and positive, thank you for it!❤❤❤ And wow, I've started to watch this 14 seconds after you uploaded, never been so early on any YT vids. (sorry if I made some mistakes, english is not my native laguage)
My sister has some of THEEEEE BEST mashed potatoes we have ever had. I asked her recently what her secret was to make them so unbelievably good. She smiled and said "on top of butter and milk ...add a good spoonful or two of mayonnaise". I haaaaaaaate mayo so I kind of gagged when she said this. But I tried it. It is SOOO GOOD!!!
Oreo thins are ok for car snacks on a long drive, and I’d be interested to try them as a crust for a baked good, but nope. Chris is right, mint all the way. Those those dark chocolate ones look pretty tasty
Double stuffed IS the worst! Thank you! Everything thinks I'm crazy for having that preference lol Also oreo hack: put them in a cup, pour milk over them. Leave them in there for like 5 secs but no longer than 10 if you want a little crunch left (which I like.) Pour milk into a separate cup. Eat the saturated oreos with a spoon. It's almost oreo pudding-ish. Drink the left over milk as you enjoy the cookies. Its amazing!
1:14 adding a raw egg in mashed potatoes 3:13 using a box grater to grate garlic 7:40 using sour cream instead of milk in Mac’n’Cheese 10:35 mixing soy sauce w/ butter on popcorn 16:28 dipping Oreos in milk & freezing them like an ice cream sandwich
Hey! Love your videos. I have a theory about the mac and cheese, I think you should try it again with kraft cause I think with the sharper yellow cheddar it wouldn't overpower the cheese as much. And you'd get more of a sour cream and cheddar chip flavor which is what I assume they are going for.
Fresh ground black pepper on popcorn is soooooo good!!!! A bowl of air-popped, a bit of butter, a super fine salt, cracked black pepper and I am a happy, happy girl
I literally starting watching her channel like 4 days ago and I’m loving Rachel and Christopher. Rachel u are so cute I can’t stand it. And I love how Christopher is always so supportive and honest with u. Yet is always there to help out. U guys r awesome thank u for making a channel
Rachel your ranking system of the oreos is my exact ranking and I love you 10 times more for it lol !!! Btw if you love the dark chocolate ones I really recommend the fudge dipped dark chocolate oreos!!!
I've always put an egg in my potatoes. My dad taught me that mashed potatoes should never NEED gravy. Add some garlic, herbs, butter, cream and salt and pepper. I also leave the skin on so it's creamy yet chunky. I'm so glad people are catching on to the egg hack!
My favorite mashed potatoes aren't lumpy or soupy. A smooth and buttery perfection that holds it's form. 😋 Lumpy mashed potatoes are not acceptable in my family. 😂 I didn't know that was a thing!
Best umami flavours popcorn: in a pan, add oil, brown sugar and kernels (swivveling the pan as it gets hotter to melt the sugar onto each kernal). when they are all popped and caramelised (not burnt if you keep swivveling the pan during cooking), while hot, add black truflfe salt and toss! sweet caramelly, salts and umami! yummo!
My favorite thing is to do the garlic in the butter then add about a cup of heavy cream, add 1/4 cup of Parmesan ( usually the good kind but the one that comes on the shelf will work just use more and it might be alittle gritty) then add any shredded cheese mix ( i usually use the five finger pinch on monterey jack blend or fiesta blend) Then I add a little garlic powder (why not more lol), onion powder, cajun seasoning, salt pepper to taste. I put shrimp in it but it is also good with chicken. then add some pasta noodles :)
I'm here earlyyy and the only reason for that is that I haven't started my daily 'baking in quarantine' adventure in the kitchen yet 😂😂😂 Love youuu EDIT: Chris loves mint oreos as much as I hate them lool
I learned this recently, for mash potatoes you should cut them in half lengthwise and boil them like that. It takes slightly longer but they are cooked evenly. Cubes are different sizes so they cook unevenly
After we cook the potatoes, we put them through a ricer instead of using just a masher.....they come out so good and smooth without wearing out your arm or adding so much milk and butter it becomes like soup.
The best quick "ice cream sandwiches" is cool whip between two chocolate graham crackers. I wrap them in individual portions and throw them in the freezer. Sooooo good!!!!
Rachel try adding a scoop of cream cheese to your mashed potatoes. They reheat more evenly, and get soooooo creamy. And add salt to your water while cooking. Makes a world of difference
Rachel, you can use the popcorn measuring cup to melt the butter. That's been around for a bit. 😉 My husband's popcorn hack is to use coconut oil in a pan on the stove instead of air popped and instead of putting butter on it after. Then he puts a combo of Lawry's seasoning salt and Camp Mix honey & cinnamon topping on it. It is the most addictive of all popcorn I've ever eaten.
Hello, Love. Soooo, instead of sour cream, would you try adding heavy whipping cream - instead of milk to your white cheddar mac and cheese? That make sense? Lol. I feel like that would be a better combination. :-) XOXO
RACHEL YOU ARE MY HERO! Double stuffed Oreos are the worst, and the thins are the greatest. The best part of an Oreo is the cookie. I highly recommend peanut butter ones, I haven’t found them with the Oreo brand but Newman’s has peanut butter ones and they’re my favorite ❤️
if you don’t already, put your chips in the freezer. I’ve only done it with ruffles but i think it would be good with any kind... the cold chips just make the flavour stand out & it’s sooo good
Did anyone else notice a LOT more Canadian in her accent in this video? The sorry and smooshing when talking about the garlic got me! I'm such an American for catching accents and finding them fascinating 🤷🏻♀️😂
for mac and cheese if you don't have butter you can use cream cheese and it gives it a richness and cheeser texture. good for when you want the creaminess or are in a pinch.
Rachel: sour cream in Mac n Cheese. Me: oooooohhhhh 😍🤤 ...Crap I already went for groceries last night. Rachel: it’s not that good. Me: thank goodness. I would have gone out just for sour cream. Lol
my stepmom use to make the BEST mac and cheese and she actually used that "hack" BUT she put the normal amount of milk like make the box how its supposed to be made then mix in a little bit of sour cream and pepper. its wonderful !! its just all about the ratios
I like smooth potatoes but I leave the skins in....I usually use the small fingerling potatoes so the texture of the skin makes it good to me. Plus I add some grated garlic, chives, and salt
