Enabling 'best performance' will result in slightly better results, but also will decrease time it lasts while on battery. Hope that makes sense. many of the youtubers are getting 2900 single core and 15000 on the multicore on performance mode. I don't know why your unit is showing such a huge discrepancy
thats because I run it in 'recommended' mode, but -on the other hand - I guess thats what most people will run it in . Will test in power mode as well - thanks for your comment!
@@samlawrence4670 I said not cool because of the way the reviewer makes it the responsibility of the viewer to figure out that they are using recommended mode. When reviewing a device, a reviewer is required to provide metrics that also showcase the device at its peak.
The battery life result was very impressive.. For GPU performance.. I am sure there will be patches to make it better and maybe by gen 2, it should be nailed. But so far... Great performance in my opinion considering you compared this to the M1 Pro..
Love seeing new channel! Great work, love your presentation and how you cut together the cinebench results. The battery on the Mac has had a bit of degradation that could explain the 5% difference, maybe? Thanks for sharing.
Yes indeed, this laptop is 2.5 years old so I am happy anyways that it still can keep up with the newest machines :) Thank you for your comment ! Marek
Running on High Performance to know the capability is fine. But comparing that to a MacBook is wrong I guess. You won't get the same battery life there.
The only test that I'm not seeing is running DaVinci Resolve. Everyone is doing the same thing. Running benchmarks and battery life. Running DaVinci would actually tell me with big files that it's something to consider.
There are tests in Davinci, in this video guy says currently it does not support GPU: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xvhredzomLY.htmlsi=3ufm5tfv0kfULaLt
This is exactly the comparison I was looking for! Can you please test Davinci Resolve performance? (exporting, magic mask, effects, etc.) Deciding if I should switch to Macbooks or Snapdragon elite Thank you!
Sure will try, there are some tests in DaVinci already- here the guy says it does not support GPU: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xvhredzomLY.htmlsi=3ufm5tfv0kfULaLt
all youtube testing these laptop for benchmark and gaming!!! I wonder there is not single person out there to test this laptop for what intend to be and it's productivity. I like what you did at the last and test the battery life. please test it for photo or video editing and coding and the performance for those task and how long battery last for those task
@@Automation-Avenue@vartannazarian3451 Incorrect here!!!! It's called "best performance" under power modes in the settings app. You DO NOT create a high performance mode in CMD. THIS IS LEGACY AND NOT OPTIMISED. Type battery, power and sleep in start menu, make sure you're in the settings app and then under power modes select best performance!!!!!
It looks like you are running the surface in a low power mode. Could you check it and maybe test with best performance power mode ? The X Elite cpu single score in high performance power mode should be around 2800/2900.....
Hi Yes, its running in default 'recommended' mode, all info is in video description. I didnt switch to 'best performance' as this is not mode most people will switch to, and time it will be able to work on battery will be reduced as well in that mode. Hope that makes sense. Thank you for your comment! Marek
@@Automation-Avenue Yes , it make sense but many professional users like software developers will use it on "best performance". Thank you for your reply ....
They are both very good TBH, I dont know if I have my favourite. The keyboards are really good on both, the trackpad on 16 inch macbook is much larger but the one in Microsoft Surface is large enough, cant say anything negative about it. The bottom right and left 'buttons' work different way though on Microsoft Surface - instead of physical button - they are haptic trackpads which means no mechanical button ( so when you switch the laptop off, you can't feel the 'click' ). But I like that, it works perfectly. They are defo much better than the one on my Asus Rog Strix Scar ;) Thank you for your comment ! Marek
The Adreno GPU makes Snapdragon based laptops only suitable for surfing the web, watching videos, running office productivity programs, and similar things where graphics capabilities aren't important.
This test is not fair and and doesn't reflect the truth. When you use applications that are optimized, the Surface is superior, as has been seen in several other tests on youtube. The same initial performance issue occurred with Apple utilizing Rosette in its transition to ARM chips. I watched videos on youtube where it rendered photos in Lightrrom and exported videos much faster than the M2. He's trying to give the impression that Apple is superior with an M1 chip, as it isn't.
@@nicaciobenevides1145 I’m particularly in the market for a laptop with M3 pro performance. Sure, there’s x86 equivalents out there but I was really banking on Qualcomm pulling this off!! I need the battery life. The surface is a super cool machine but it’s just not quite there yet. Maybe next year
Well... you cant buy new M1 mac any more, and officially refurbished directly from Apple is actually slightly cheaper than this Microsoft Surface, but then comparing new to refurbished is not fair again... I just wanted to show what we can expect, I get your point though ! Thank you for your comment! Marek
Thats probably because I run it in default 'recommended' mode, but -on the other hand - I guess thats what most people will run it in . Will test in power mode as well - thanks for your comment!
I've been playing some ligtht games like Counter Strike Source, Street Fighter 4 etc and they work perfectly. However when I tried Cyberpunk 2077 - well... it works ( was quite surprised by that ) but I wouldnt say its playable as I got between 15 and 20 frames. Probably will make a video about gaming shortly so stay tuned ! Cheers Marek
Followed footstep of apple but almost 4 years after their offering is vastly inferior to 4 year old apple product ? No wonder why Apple is the pinnacle of consumer tech product that everyone else follow and is compared against.
The Geekebench .. you have to run it in power mode performance ..as the laptop came set on balance .. as this is not yet optimized for ARM .. and the windows do not know yet how to boost automatically. Other than that .. X Elite is a great machine .. GOOD JOB !!
yes correct, I run it in 'recommended' mode, but -on the other hand - I guess thats what most people will run it in . Will test in power mode as well - thanks for your comment!
@@obadakamal6470 I asked friends and family about six months ago if they switched to performance mode when doing intensive stuff, and they still need to do it. They assumed that in 2024, the OS (like in Macs) would work something as simple as that!

Many apps do not work or have to run through emulation. Only sponsored reviews will ignore the elephant in the room. Consumers need to know that despite the long wait, there are still many issues, and for all we know, this time next year it may still be the same. If you watch media and browse these are great, but for real work they are not recommended. For me, printers and scanners have no drivers and are unlikely to, VPNs do not work, Google Drive does not work even on emulation, and buyers beware. Worth waiting as Intel and AMD have groundbreaking devices arriving soon and they will not have these issues.
Hello, I would like to see on how does both laptops (surface laptop and macbook pro with M1 pro) perform in procyon office productivity and procyon AI tests. Thanks
hey what's the X elite varient in the surface is it 78100 or 80100 or 84100? cause all 3 have different performance output also did you put the surface on windows performance mode while running these tests?
The mac reports 93% battery life. I run different type of battery test in the 'gaming on microsoft surface' video that was also requested - please see that link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XikgYEO1goU.html Hope that helps ! Marek
Blender is x86. The results are expected because it ran through the Prism emulation layer. Whereas there are apple silicon binaries for blender that are compiled to be native on ARM.
Gen 4 has max speed of close to 7000 MB/s , it would have to be Gen 3 to be bottlenecked by that. If I find time I might test it a little bit further. Thank you for your comment ! Marek
