testing the new British Army hairstyles (female policy change)

last week the British Army updated their policy on the hairstyles serving men and women can have in the workplace. i'd normally rock a bun at work, so i thought i'd give the new styles a go to find my favourite. i think the jury is still out but i love we can now have variety. it's a modern army! see you in the next video in a few days...

In the eighties and nineties you could request any cut or style from the barracks barber, but everyone came out looking the same 💈💈😂😂😂👍👍☕❤

I really do think the ponytail looks good and it would be a life saver for me because I am useless when It comes to hair and I'd struggle doing a bun but it probably would be better :)

The last one looks professional, conservative, and attractive. That said, I don't think exposed hair of any length is a good idea in terms of tactical/safety. Remember, it is attached to your head (basically a rope) and could be grabbed or caught in something, potentially causing injury or trapping you in some situation (like in a downed aircraft, vehicle that has been in an accident or IED, etc.).

I remember a Sergeant showing us just how easy it was to grab someone by the hair, and the person he demonstrated it on had the traditional “short back and sides” that was standard back in the eighties.

Its bullshit and preferential treatment to women. Why do men have to be forced to have bald hair (when they can easily spike their hair up) while women can have long hair. Then you have the nonsense of easier entry requirements.

How did you become physically fit enough to join the army and what does your diet consist of? Can anyone join the army at any age? Can you join if you take medication? Are the fitness tests hard to pass?

Was in the Canadian Army in the 1990s. My Platoon Sergeant was against women having long hair in the army. "Do you see guys walking around with a bun on their heads," he said. Well, apparently they do now.

If you can get some MPT material like is you have cut off a shirt slive to make a summer sleeved shirt use the material to make a sock with a tight each side of the opening roll it over your ponytails or plat use the ties to rape around the top and tie in a bow then put some pins in through the ties into your hair if you don't think it's secure enough this is for field use only because with your hair colouring it will stick out like a sore thumb my Norwegian Girlfriend used to do this when she was in the field she had three or four different camouflage pattons ie summer green brown white winter white green winter and white black winter yes she did have blond hair too without the camo socks it was like watching a rabbits tail blink at you if they don't let's you wear them then wrap it in a piece of face vail

I hate seeing army buns. They are really messy. Check out how to do low ballet buns - secure hair with bobbles in low ponytail, then twist, secure with 2 bun pins then add bun net. Flatten bun secure with pins and it will look fab. It will not budge.

So they've changed the policy for men too. Interesting, but I think I'm going to stick to short back and sides. Boringly traditional I know, but joining the army is adventurous enough.

Ive been in for 31 years. Not liking the new hair regs. Ive seen a few girls with pony tails and it reminds me of when I first saw females in the Dutch forces walking about. Looks a bit too ‘relaxed’. The plait looks better than the pony tail.

I'm glad they've finally changed the regulations! Personally don't think the pony tail will look good, tried it with my rafac uniform and it didn't look great, here for the plait in MTP, but going to keep the bun for No2s

Under battle conditions, be careful of someone pulling at your ponytail or plait. So I prefer the bun, not to tight though.

What about highlights and dyes? Are they allowed too? I hope that our military take pattern in your regulations.

In a face to face situation, if you want to dominate your enemy, grab their hair and manhandle them.

As martial arts instuctor(with long hair) long hair isn't anywhere near the disadvantage that many perceive. You can just as easily more so even just grab their clothing/webbing or their muscle structure. Also in a litteral face to face situation in full battle dress they won't see it anyway because It's tied behind you. if the're behind you you're already dead so it doesn't matter. Many of the fiercest warrior cultures throughout world history purposely left their hair long because it's a status symbol of who they were and mostly this is when hand to hand fighting was the norm.

She’s got the army uniform , but has she been on the battlefront for a long time watching bullets blasting ? Carrying a heavy gun ? I find that intriguing .
