Daniel Perry, a former US Army sergeant who was convicted of murdering a protester at a Black Lives Matter rally in 2020, was released from prison Thursday after he was pardoned by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. #CNN #News
I guess we’ll never get to find-out, considering we’ve never seen a pro-Trump protest, where the "protesters" stand in the road to prevent free movement in a public space, and then surround a citizen’s car while brandishing a "military style assault rifle."

@pressinpickle345 Yes. A crowd of hundreds of miscreants vs. one guy? Surrounding his car and approaching him with a weapon? Did you see the deceased's interview?
You forgot about the part where the protestor pointed his rifle at him first. You’d probably let the guy pull the trigger on you in the name of not being considered racist 😅
It's almost like letting the president and governors have the power to pardon convicted criminals is a bad idea and there should have been a separation of executive and judicial powers.
Well you’re still a liar. The political path is a one way street. Children start out as liberals and adults end up conservatives. It doesn’t go the other way. Unless you suffered some out of brain injury. If that’s the case, I withdraw the “liar” statement.
You forgot the part when the car ran a red light and drove into the crowd. I guess people do not have a right to defend themselves and others against cars.
This is GOP law and order party.. what a despicable human being you are Mr. Abbot. A man without a moral compass and decency beside owing the libs to the point of cruelty and lobbying for power. You can feel the pain of this woman and how she feels completely overwhelmed from the injustice that stroke her twice .. one from blind rage and one for political calculation .. you can feel the coldness of an action so gratuitous and so so wrong .. if you are wondering when political steps into violence this how it starts, by outrageous abuse of power such as this .. just saying
Hi Erik, you know what's truly " cruel " snowflake? Is your President killing 13 serviceman in Afghanistan and checking his watch every 5 minutes while their bodies are being off loaded, THAT son is" Cruel " now go take out the garbage before you clean my pool 😂 Trump2024

Wicked. These people are just so wicked, but who’s surprise? I’m sure there are people sitting in Jail that are truly innocent, but this is what the Governor chooses to do. Disgusting.
Okay maybe these ignorant people are right so can you please explain to me what justification her son had putting the AK-47 in this man's face through the front windshield of his car
they went through this in court already, and found no evidence the victim ever did this. it was his main argument in the trial, that it was self defense, there was no proof of it, and he was convicted. hence, the pardon. this was all after he plowed through a red light almost hitting protesters. but what they did find was google searches on his phone for "good chats to meet young girls on kik", "degree of murder charges", "attack on jews in texas"
I just don’t understand, republicans make me 😢 why would you absolve him of all responsibility for his actions, he could have stayed at home. He was out looking for trouble found it, ended a life, his peers saw fit to find him guilty and then you let him off becuase he was a BLM supporter. This is sickening, extremely sickening and it makes you lose faith utterly in the American Justice system that seems to only hold strong when it’s standing on the necks of black people.

Seems perfectly reasonable. It's a shame this happened at all. He shouldn't have been there in the first place. He wasn't law enforcement and approached a vehicle with a loaded gun without any authority just to bully people and found out that's a bad idea
Was the car stopped at a red light ? Or did the car run the red light and drive into the crowd of people ? Why can a person not defend themselves against a car ?
@@elmosweed4985 an armed vehicle didn't approach a stopped person. An armed person of no authority approached a stopped vehicle and attempted to intimidate with a loaded weapon. That particular scenario you've described never happened there. It did however happen up north during a Christmas parade where a driver ran over innocent grandmother's though

We always had the power to decide whether it's a wise choice or not. Nobody forced anyone to be there. The drivers had absolutely nothing to do with it other than driving somewhere and protecting his person and family when a non official approached the vehicle with a loaded weapon. It's a natural conclusion given the circumstances
so his car was stopped by a mob of protesters and a man with a gun in hand approached and threatened him and his family. He feared for his life so he defended himself and his family. How is that not justified? Should be made to be surrounded and threatened and not be able to do anything? Please elaborate on your position.
@@user-wj3ss1il4p If we can not rely on a jury who has heard testimony from the prosecution, the defense, and the defendant, I guess we will have to rely on the political motives of the ruling party. Odd to think well armed people in volatile situations might be quick to pull a trigger. Perhaps the right to carry grenades would make us more thoughtful about actually using them. @@Patch3s26 Army vet fantasized about murdering somebody in "self defense" for years and does it the second the opportunity arises. He documented it and it was used in court to convict this man. Somehow you think he should be allowed to walk? Thats called premeditation, your logic is warped.
Is that what happened? He ran up on a guy in his car? I've seen people get run up on while in their car and not a single one of them motioned to the driver to roll down their window. They just started hitting the window trying to break the glass. Apparently this man didn't do that, but the driver sh0t him anyway. I'll say this: The guy shouldn't have had an assault rifle. Neither should have Kyle R. But beyond that, I don't know enough about the case to have an opinion. What I do know: A jury of 12 Texans found him guilty. And abbott is a known liar and a guy that uses my tax dollars to play insult games. Those are undisputed facts. I'm a life long Conservative, Native Texan, and 2nd amendment advocate. Save your breath accusing me of being a lib. I'm far worse. I hold fellow brethren accountable for their actions. They think I'm crazy. Maybe. Doesn't change the Truth whether I am or not.
Remember when all those protesters had their guns . I can’t recall where they were. But imagine if someone who didn’t agree with their protest came and shot them and said they “thought “ they would use a weapon against them.. this is setting a dangerous precedent..
This guy walks up to a car brandishing an AR15 in the middle of a semi riotous hostile BLM huge crowd and he starts hitting the window with the muzzle and demanding he roll the window down and people are shocked that he got himself shaded in Texas, let that American out and duly compensate him for the time stolen from him
The back of the matter is that driver just ran through a crowd of people emotions were high. And the state of Texas it is perfectly legal to Branish a weapon like that and that is the problem. The governor and the attorney general are more interested in boosting the profits of their contributors The gun manufacturer public safety!
Jurors convicted this guy and a Trump bootlicker pardons him. Says it all about that state. In my state of Massachusetts, the one that had a huge part of American democracy and Freedom and independence, this guy would never see the sky ever again.
why would he be out there protesting with that kind of gun an going up to cars..protesters should not block cars from going an never go up to someones car with a gun out..
It’s legal in Texas to carry the weapon around because there are so many gun owner nuts in the state. This is a great reason to not allow weapons of war on our streets or to be sold at walmarts
Former Army sergeant and Air Force veteran... I keep hearing these terms, but i'm not sure exactly why they are used. Was he a former Army sergeant because of the shooting? How recent was the decedent an Air Force veteran? What does either matter? Is that why I am having to ask the question? ❤
Jurors get it wrong all the time. This case should have never went to court. The man never ran a light & drove through any traffic until a man, her son, tried to shoot him for trying to drive home.
Perry never should have been arrested, much less convicted. The guy stuck a rifle in Perry’s face. The deceased made a video just minutes before bragging how he would intimidate people with his weapon.
Where was all this energy for justice when Kyle Rittenhouse shot and killed those two men? He purposely went there with a loaded weapon to incite violence 😢. Did you know Abbott has been governor for 3 four year terms and wants to go for a 4th four year term to be the longest Texan governor in history for a total of 16 years? I suppose he could go for a fifth term as well.
It was proven during the trial that Perry *willfully chose* to drive to the scene of a BLM protest. He also chose to do so armed with a handgun. He didn't have to go there. As was the case with Kyle Rittenhouse, Perry made the absolute wrong choice; the consequences of which directly resulted in the death of Foster. Once at the scene of the protest, Perry deliberately ran a red light and drove his vehicle (a deadly weapon in and of itself) into a group of protesters. His social media posts voicing anger about the protests, as well as issuing threats of violence against the protesters, were also introduced as evidence, demonstrating intent. What did Perry think was going to happen? Rather than staying home, rather than avoiding the area, he went to the scene, armed and filled with anger, used his vehicle as a deadly weapon, then proceeded to escalate the situation. When the foreseeable occurred, Perry proceeded to shoot Foster *five* times. This is one of the many problems with open carry laws (permit or permitless). Without open carry in Texas, Foster wouldn't have been armed with an assault-style rifle. Unarmed, Perry would have no reason to feel that his life was in imminent danger. Without Foster's possession of a firearm, Perry would've been unable to conflate his own malice of forethought with imminent danger to his own life. As was the case with several of Trump's pardons, Perry's pardon by Abbott represents a gross miscarriage of justice. The family must now pursue a wrongful death case as a civil action.
@@skeptigal4626 Oh, really? An individual goes out of his way to find trouble and ends up murdering someone, and he bears no responsibility? Perry got up, got dressed, grabbed his keys and his gun, navigated to the site of a protest with which he vehemently disagreed, ran a red light and drove into a group of protesters. If not for the direct actions of Perry, Foster would be alive today.
You’re so scared of somebody asking you to lower your window, but you’re not scared to plow through a bunch of people running a red light at a protest? And her question is literally gold. Would you have done it if this was a Trump rally? Hell no.
Lot of people saying he pointed his gun at the driver first. Is anyone able to link video of the defenses presentation of this evidence? All Ive been able to see if a animated recreation of how Foster was standing and how far away he was from the vehicle (in the animation it did not show his pointing the gun) which conflicts with the coroners report of the angle the gun shot wounds were documented. videos of the vehicle approaching honking and then being surrounded by protestors, and claims by people there he had the gun across his chest. Does it seem like premeditated murder? No. Does it seem like it was self defense? It definetly wasn’t a friendly situation he found himself in. Could this all have escalated drastically less quickly and likely been avoided if A) people hadn’t been blocking the street, B) he pulled up honking his horn at already frustrated and irritated people. C) if you arnt walking around a public street with a rifle strapped to your chest like an active war zone. No one is entirely in the right or wrong in this situation. This situation is the result of allowable to circumstances that inevitably lead to the same predictable and repeated results. If you let people smoke in a room filled with hydrogen and dynamite at some point there’s going to be an explosion. In the end it was a unanimous jury of his peers who made the decision after hearing the evidence. I think everyone from the government to citizens and all in between need to do better.
