Mine was the same age as the Sandy Hook kids in 2012. I cried just as much yesterday and today as I did in 2012. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this senseless tragedy.

My son was 2 weeks during Sandy Hook, I watched the event unfold on the news. Now years later he's 9, in 4th grade and I have to have these conversations with him that no mother should 😔💔

As a parent that's had to bury a child I can honestly say for the parents condolences prayers nothing seems to help only time will help to slightly numb the pain but if loved ones and the community keeps supporting the families through this hardest moment of their lives then the families can start to heal but please understand there's always going to be broken hearts and extreme anger a parent should never have to bury a child. And to the teachers that passed away we thank you for being there for the children and guiding them up to heaven. You have nothing to apologize for - what you said makes perfect sense. I will write condolences for families but in my heart still know that if I lost my baby … it’s a nice sentiment but I would never be whole again. All I can say as a parent is that even the thought of this happening to my child makes me feel physically ill, so the fact it is a reality for someone like yourself and all of the parents that lost their children yesterday… I can not even imagine and I won’t ever pretend like I can understand that kind of pain. It’s truly unfathomable. My heart just aches for everyone.
If you hurt anyone's feelings, screw'em. I feel your pain as I to have buried my son. No disrespect to anyone that has ever had to do such but while most of us have the support of family and friends, very few of us that go through that pain have the support of the community, let alone the state or country. We feel a need to tell everyone we meet that our child was here, he has not been forgotten, and we feel so let down that we never got to watch as they really got into life. I was fortunate enough to have 23 years with my oldest son before he decided he want to meet God before God called him home. I was lucky enough to watch him learn to play and rock the house with his metal band at 15 playing local bars and clubs for money. I miss that and him such.

I was seven when Sandy Hook happened. I live forty five minutes away. I'm now seventeen with a seven year old little brother. Not only do I have to live in fear and sit through the millionth "doors locked, curtains drawn, head down" speech, I'm watching my little brother having that same experience for the first time, being just a year shy of the first victim. I can't stop crying. I feel sick.
I can see why people homeschool i used to think it was excessive and overprotective but i honestly get it. Between the twisted agendas and bullying you have to worry about your kids getting killed literally.
My thoughts are also with police officers who walked into that classroom and witnessed the massacre. Unimaginable to see 19 dead kids in one room. God help those men.

There was one baby that they had to do a DNA test because they were not recognizable 😭😭 and one was 10 years old and she already picked out her quinceañera dress 😭😭 her parents said they are still gonna buy it for her 😭😭😭 this whole thing is so heart breaking 💔

If doing that decreases the amount of mass shooting by even 1% it would be worth it. To say that comprehensive background checks wouldn't solve the problem is cowardly. Our children went to a school in a “good” neighborhood so we thought we were safe, thank god nothing happened,however when we got a new Principal who came from a ‘bad’ area and immediately had huge iron gates installed and the parents were furious, us on the other hand were ok with it because everyone had to show ID and ask what they were there for .Every school in America needs this back, we cant keep letting this happen. Also employ armed National guards two per campus , this has to be dealt with

This always happens after a mass shooting, because people are afraid that the federal government is finally going to institute meaningful restrictions on firearms. Don't worry. If our country couldn't do anything after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012, when twenty kindergarteners and six adults were murdered in cold blood, we won't do anything now. Sandy Hook was a turning point for this country: our refusal to take any steps to prevent another mass shooting means that we've accepted these as a way of life. What's that, this isn't a good time to discuss this? It's NEVER a "good time" to discuss this, is it? So we never do. This isn't the first mass shooting in the US and it won't be the last. And they will just keep getting bigger and deadlier, and it will never, ever, ever be the "right time" to discuss how to prevent it. By the way, I was a teacher for thirty years, including elementary school at one point. If you say "arm the teachers", I'll just ignore you. Because if having teachers pack pistols and rifles is your "solution", you are just too stupid for words. Y'all feel bad about this but you won't lift a finger to prevent another one. My heart aches for those parents who had their child taken, lost too soon. For what they are going thru. I've experienced it. You become undone....seeing darkness for the future, you focus on the past, just hours behind you, when your child was here. And the two words which keep running thru your mind.... if only...if only...if...if. The void in their hearts will never fill. That ache never goes away.

But I still want to know why this school wasn't locked down beings the cops were chasing this kid in the vicinity of the school after he had killed his grandmother and he had weapons. It feels like someone dropped the ball here! Schools are always getting locked down when there is an active shooter or threat in or around the school .. this would be the same thing. The school should have been notified and locked down immediately.

There have been 27+ school shootings in the US in the year of 2022 as of writing this comment. That is 5.5 school shootings per month. There has been ONE school shooting in the news. This one. School shootings have become so common in the US that most don't ever make it onto the news anymore. It's so common that no one cares unless it's 3rd-4th graders. Keep in mind that no other country suffers from these tragedies like we do. Ten years ago when Sandy Hook was shot up, we were talking about how gun laws NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. Today, we are STILL talking about it. We need to stop talking about it, and we need to actually do SOMETHING. Thoughts and prayers are NOT enough anymore. We need to take action.

We need to honor the lives of these victims by enacting stronger gun reform laws in this country. Children should not be having to practice active shooter drills or be afraid that they may be shot and killed at school. Prayers are not going to change things but new laws will.
On the other side of the spectrum, what we usually find out about the suspects is they were on medication, had mental health issues, bullied etc. how about keeping schools accountable for handling children who are having problems. Usually it gets passed on to the parents.. and the parents aren’t always equipped with solutions either

These innocent lives were declared to be "Unworthy of Life" by their own mother. By the very person who gave them Life. too much freedom for america, where in gun is legal they can just buy gun and take many lives... mass shooting in new york, in Pennsylvania and in texas... whats next? and they said its their rights to have bare arms as seen in 2nd amendment? you know if everyone got gun and a person suffered from mental illness, that person can kill his family or even innocent people, you've seen the suspect he even wanted to kill her grandma.

This might sting a little so you should sit down before reading this. There are 10 European countries that have a higher rate per capita of mass shootings than the US. These are Norway, Serbia, Finland, Albania, Macedonia, France, Slovakia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Belgium. Do not believe me. Look it up, search for mass shooting rate per capita by country. Also "as a veteran"? lol I love how people throw around that term like it automatically gives you extra credibility. I still remember when I served that there was more than a few people that didn't do jack, and they considered themselves veterans, which was an insult to people like me.

I'm sorry about what happened, but the ban on the purchase and possession of firearms is not the solution. The people have the sacred right to defend themselves against the possible yoke and tyranny that the State can exercise, if the ingredients and political contexts are given for it. The United States continues to be a nation of free men and it is thanks to a large extent to the access that every citizen has to weapons. Rigorous psychotechnical controls, awareness campaigns, exhaustive studies on criminal records, etc., should be implemented, but the sacred right to self-defense should not be prohibited. We never know how our day is going to unfold, we get up in the morning to get ready for our everyday activities but we never know what's ahead for each of us. Most people use their time the right way, unfortunately, there are a few who go through life planning to kill innocent ones, and even though they're just a few, man how much damage and pain they cause! They take "the easy way"since most of them end up killed so they cannot be prosecuted. They don't care if they take away children's lives or if they leave parents mourning their loved ones, they also leave orphan kids in the scene. I really hope the authorities are going to enforce certain laws related to gun possession. R.I.P. those innocent victims who were trying to make of this world a better place.
If they did their job, like they said when they took the oath, to protect and serve AMERICA AND IT'S PEOPLE, instead of serving and protecting every other corrupt country there would be plenty in the budget.
