Texas shooting: Why did it take nearly an hour for police to enter the school? 

They are so quick to give drivers a speeding ticket going 5-10 miles over the speed limit, but they are not so quick to save children from a psycho. Absolutely disgusting.

They cuffed a parent for freaking out that they weren’t doing anything. When they uncuffed her she hopped the fence and got her kids out, while the police did nothing for an hour.

If the police are too scared to enter a classroom of children and save them they should find another job. And to stop the parents from entering is unexceptionable. I was a police officer and a Marine Corp Sergeant , and nothing but my death would have stopped me from going in there as my job was to protect the public at any cost!

The police at the scene should be fired for not immediately entering. Imagine if doctors or nurses waited an hour before the treated the victims. They would be fired, sued, and licenses taken away

Police protected themselves before the children. It’s disgraceful.

Absolute cowards, disgraceful. Willingly letting children die as they stood outside. I hope they carry that shame and that it eats away at them, for the rest of their lives.

Good job officers! You successfully set up a perimeter defending the suspect from any vigilante rescue attempt and bought the shooter nearly an hour to perform his executions unmolested👍

The kid had an AR-15 and the officers were scared to go in. It is that simple. But, according to America's gun lobby, the average gun-totting citizen is supposed to be able to handle these incidents just fine.

So here is my answer to the Statement "if the teacher had a gun these people could have been saved" Every single police had a gun and they are trained to use it yet he got there via a chase and killed for an hour.

Every single detail of this case breaks my heart.. the dad remembering his little girl being excited about going to school, the place where she ended up passing away.. and that poor husband of the teacher who was killed ended up following her to heaven after a heart attack.. my God.. this is tragic all over again, as it always was with school shootings.. I hope that one day America will be able to mitigate this issue.. it's the main reason why I would never want to live there.. I hope the families of the victims will someday be able to heal..

Police failed to respond in a timely manner. The police were more worried about keeping fathers from running in to the school to try and save their kids. Than to react to the situation. The police were the only ones that could have tried to save some of these victims. Think about the fact that one of the victims was able to call 911 and shortly after died. If police would have reacted immediately that little girl might have survived.

So much for training Run every police officer off that stood outside and didn’t react.

This is all so devastating!! My gosh--I can't imagine the utter fear & terror those children and staff members had to face. And hearing that the husband of one of the teachers that was shot & murdered, he also died due to a heart attack, is so heartbreaking!! He literally died from a broken heart. 💔 My deepest & sincerest condolences to all the victims' families. 😞

I cant believe people cant grasp the fact that an 18 year old person with no previous background checks, psychological evaluation or social media presence can go buy 2 AR-15 rifles with high capacity magazine and as much ammo as he can afford in our country. This makes absolutely no sense to me.

Evidentially, it's more important that police officers go home safely to their families instead of saving the children. The parents could've done a better job saving kids compared to the coward cops afraid to go inside and do their job. Sad excuse for a profession that claims to "protect and serve."💔

Every single one of those cowards who were pepper spraying and cuffing distraught parents while their kids were being slaughtered, needs to be sacked at the absolute bare minimum and if there's any justice be charged with negligent homicide.

As an American mother I am disturbed by this TRAGEDY! Law enforcement officials have grossly let these precious children and their teachers down! Come on America 🇺🇸 you have got to do better!

They pulled a taser on a parent trying to rush in the building. They put handcuffs on another…. They were listening to the shots and screams… one officer told the children to yell help if they needed it. One girl did… the shooter shot her. These ppl saying they would save kids if teachers were armed are insane. Absolutely insane. I’d go so far as to say stupid as well. They would be torn apart by an AR-15 before they could even get their gun raised, aimed and their finger on the trigger.

The woman at 5:00 is why America is doomed. She says she does not want to get in to politics but agrees with their Governor!

The chief should be arrested for not letting the departments officer enter that school. DON'T let this chief off the hook. He help cause this massacre

If people in the US, especially Texans , want to keep their right to bare arms then this is the price they will continue to pay. This has only happened once in the UK, dunblane 1996. We immediately tightened are all ready strict firearms legislation and a killing of this scale has not happened since.

Firefighters would have done an excellent job on protecting these kids and getting these kids to safety. Kids are taught to call the police to get help and they failed these kids and their families tremendously

Why wasn’t the school on lock down when the killer shot his grandma down the street. Or when he crashed the truck. When I was in high school we’d always go on lock down when there was something going on in our neighborhood.

The blood of these children is on the hands of the LEOs who failed to act. Since Columbine all cops train to the same active shooter standards. Diamond formation or triangle if only 3 officers, find the shooter and neutralize the threat. We never wait for SWAT or ERT. My heart aches for the children who died needlessly.

The delayed response runs contrary to commonly taught active shooter protocol, established after the Columbine school shooting of 1999, to stop the shooter as quickly as possible and even bypass helping the injured.

Why? Because most cops are cowards. My heart breaks for the parents.

Where were the three armed security guards when the shooter entered the school, then the classroom as he began shooting and killing all eleven kids and two teachers in that classroom??? What angers me the most is the cops that did enter the school first got within 50 feet of the classroom the shooter was in, but pulled back to and take cover and hide as one wounded little girl actually saw them, and started screaming for help but backed away hearing her screaming for help, then the shooter went next door and ended her life as she kept screaming for help!!! This little girls father was standing outside of the school begging police to go in and kill the shooter!! But was held at gunpoint as him and several other parents tried entering the school, because law enforcement was standing around for over an hour at that point!!!! Like seriously WTF!!!! This makes my blood boil just writing this comment! I couldn’t imagine if anyone was that little girls father, or and father of the kids that were killed….

“Good guy with a gun” just doesn’t hold up. The school had three armed security guards, what did they do? Where were they? Why didn’t they intervene? Why did the cops not go in? Why did it take so long for an effective police response?

Those suggesting that teachers should be armed are essentially expecting teachers to do within minutes, seconds even, what took nearly an hour for police to do. Where is the logic in that?

Initially cops were shot at so they ran! So what if you've never heard of Uvalde! Wth does that have to do with anything!? You got local cops, state cops & border patrol in Uvalde! U-val-dee! Mother that broke from cops after falsely being handcuffed & arrested, drove 40 miles to save her kids! She broke from cops, climbed the fence & saved her 2 kids! What about the 11 yr old who had to use her Dead Friend's blood to smear all over her body to play dead & used her Dead teacher's cell phone to call 911? the answer to question of why it took an hour is pretty straightforward the colour of the people in the neighborhood/community. they even shot they dude when the folks up in Minnesota mass shooting allowed the white shooter just to surrender so he can get away with it in court.

My brother is a cop in Texas we are about a little less than 4hrs from Uvalde and he said the cops were cowards and even though have no fault in the shooting they are at fault for the late response which ended in a bigger # of deaths, he said a cop a sheriff a state trooper border patrol are all trained to go in if there are gun shots they are paid to put their life at risk even if that's means they have to loose it

I just don't understand they had bullet proof vest more then one officer go in as a group tackle the guy shoot him but waiting a hour the guy just when nuts . This is a tragedy . Some thing has to be done to prevent this

These cops should be charged as an accessory to a crime. These cops should be in jail and the law should be applied to them as well. I hope the Victim’s families suit the Uvalde Police Department and this department gets unfunded or reduce their funding, their actions are and were a waste of tax payers money

Arming the teachers is not the answer. The answer is insuring that the schools are locked, and armed individuals are protecting our schools.

The same state that charged a woman with murder for a miscarriage has 19 officers standing around for an hour while 19 children in the next room and 2 adults were systematically murdered. They should all be charged with multiple accessories to murder by their own standards.

A lot of Texas politicians have these children's blood on their hands. That’s 3 big mass shootings in Texas, within 5 years. Church, Walmart and now kids at elementary school. Terrible and making the state very unsafe. Texas can be a great friendly state, especially in the modern suburbanized cities, however these old towns are still stuck in the Battle of the Alamo era. Dallas cop shootings too in 2016 I think and 2018. Wise up Texans and Americans, guns are not safe, especially in the wrong hands of crazy people, which there are a lot of in the United States!

Because they're cowards. They also prevented parents from going in , they handcuffed one mother and tased at least one parent. Then they blamed the teachers. Also - just earlier today a man attacked a birthday party with an AR-15 but was shot dead by an armed woman who was at the party: no-one but the shooter was killed and thankfully they didn't have to wait for the police to arrive. I hope you will report on this incident, too. This is why they have a 2nd amendment.
