In this video I tear down a TH400 that will be going back together with a trans-brake for a drag racing build. I give some insight and advice on what should and shouldn't be done for a performance TH400 and give a few tidbits on how certain parts of the transmission works and how to improve durability.

I used cast iron rings for 4 years in a transbrake application and no issues didn't know any better than but it did work out with 0 issue when I took it apart

They work just fine but have a tendency to wear the ring grooves out very prematurely with high rpm use. That issue 100% goes away with teflon rings. I ran cast for a long time in everything before I learned this as well.

The Silencer ring in the planetary gear set keeps the fluid in so it doesnt Burn up the gear set

Yeah I have heard people say that before but its actually to reduce geartrain noise.

That "thin little fellow snap ring" is not a snap ring at all. It has a specific purpose, and is called a fretting ring.
