I was sure I'd see parasites in the flesh. But that prehistoric armor is formidable. It's amazing that old fashioned labor, is still the best way to remove scales like this.
this is a typical example of showing that when something is hard outside it is protecting something soft inside. look how hard those scales are and how soft the inside is. nice video 👍
Mano .... Pq? Fitasse o pirarucu e mandava com açaí do grosso e farinha branca.
Entao muitos vem pra cá casa de Maria Joana e pra nós? Estrangeiros levando tudo e brasileiros dormindo, cadê os peixes no mercado brasileiro SP nunca vi.
I've watched this a couple of times before, and I've always been amazed at the variety of fish that's stocked in the pond/lake. As well as a couple of catfish ( was one a Paraiba?) I also recognised the Alligator Gar andsome variety of carp alongside the Arapaima. Yes I am also a fan of Jeremy Wade's River Monsters- that's how I've come to recognise all those different fish!
Damn those scales are no joke! You gotta beat it with the fork side of a hammer to get them to come off! Watching river monster I have seen this fish when the host caught one. He said the scales are razer sharp!
Looks delicious for sure, but I wouldn’t dare to eat it raw. Just think about the worm larvae of all kinds in the flesh of a freshwater fish that big. Fry it with all the herbs, it’s a different story!
Oscar Ricky. ... first of all the size of a fish has nothing to do with how hard it is to scale or not! and that goes for 95 to 99% of all fish caught in the world!!!!! A baby 5 to 20 lb tarpon or full-size adult tarpon, carp, sturgeon, will be hard to scale .....again many are definitely harder depending on the tool you're using! ( most aren't even good eating or edible fish to begin with ) except maybe sturgeon, anyway there are many others I can't even think of right now / have huge scales and are very thick skinned on top of it... similar to like a rattlesnake LOL but I guarantee you with the right tool it could be anywhere from 3 to 6 in long as long as it's heavy and thick excetera...... it will scale that fish in a moment !!! no matter what species.... there is no need to use a freaking Carpenter/framers hammer to scale any fish! I'm sure the guy standing there beating that fish right now would disagree with me and whatever...... Many other tools would be effective to do this again regardless of the size of the fish it's all about the tool! This is seriously one of the stupidest things I've ever seen!! ...... this is extra stupid work that is not necessary! First of all why the fuck would you leave the skin on a dinosaur freshwater carp species like that?? why would you leave the skin on ?????? what is the point......the meat will not fall apart when cooking.....as in compared to many other delicate fish like locally that we have in Florida known as spotted sea trout !!!! They are very delicate and it ( does help tremendously with spotted sea trout if you scale it first and leave the skin on ) as it helps hold to meat together... anyhow all those strikes to that fishes fillets on both sides are doing nothing good for the fillets let alone not necessary how freaking stupid!! Absolutely straight up nasty
I mean that whole salad that he made with the lemons limes and all that tropical lemons and limes that whole mixture looks delicious it's a dish look like it's going to be fantastic
I didnt know some people are eating arapaima. Its armor is literally as tough as metal 😂 This fish can break ur bone if it decides to attack you. Jeremy wade is a good example of an arapaima attack.

People complaining that the fish is raw 🤦🏽♀️ please look up what ceviche is. And I saw someone else say they didn’t know you can eat fish raw lol so you never heard of sushi either huh? Anyway, this looks fire 🔥
It was @Uta who claimed the fish was raw. The fish wasn't raw because the citrus acid cooks the meat. I would've cook the skin to make fish chicharron (like pork rinds) to serve as an appetizer alongside the ceviche.
Good saying Tia Thomas, here in Perú, in the jungle we enjoy that dish almost with the same Recipe. Is awesome how similar are Peruvian' Jungle ingredients than Thai's. Question: Do you know what ingredient is the green one looks like mushroom? Thx
@@khoahthong4434 I'm not sure about that. I feel like it'd be difficult to skin underneath the scales because packed tightly together they'd probably be heavy. Plus the way the scales are arranged makes me think the knife could accidentally slip into the gaps between, make the butchering job messy.
@@howareyoumoreofaclownthanme oh, within this 2 months that I posted this reply, I did indeed watch a RU-vid video about skinning an alligator gars without taking away the scales first. Though they are different fish, my logic behind my comment remains. You can search "skinning alligator gar" by los canageros, or some channel name like that, to see the procedure and what I meant.
Some aquarists keep their Amazonian Arapaimas as their children ( Seen some in Metallic Gold with foliage of Red Orange specks on the lower body ) Magnificent Fish indeed! ... 🌷🌿🌍
Amazing, the river monster recipe looks so delicious 😋😋😋 tasty n tempting, definitely flavor full to eat , nice sharing bro, stay blessed n connected 🌹🌹🌹🌹 from Pakistan 🇵🇰
They only eat kids and ‘little people’ occasionally a ‘special or slow one’ such as Shane “the floater” Gillis who fishes for these with ladyboys in Laos.
This is a "pirarucu" the biggest fish of Amazon River. It almost went to extinction because its meat is so delicious. This is my favorite fish of Amazon.
It will go extint if this kinda shit keeps happening. For the record I'm by no means any kind of animal activist but this beauty is far to precious to be cut up like this for a YT video. I await the day until one launches out the net at these mugs and straight kills one of them with a blow to the head. This thing has the potential to be double this size and more but will rarely be allowed to reach full size
Miért dobták vissza azokat a nagy halakat???
