I think most of us can admire the positive qualities lying within both Thai and Filipina ladies. Somewhat different but both can be great partners if you choose wisely.
I experienced the same when I met my Filipina GF. She would invite multiple members of her family when going out. Its very awkward because I got the sense they were looking at our relationship as if a marriage was eventually going to happen. They seem too conservative and traditional to accept relationships out of wedlock. And that she would feel she is wasting her time if it wasnt going to happen.
I have too many bad experiences of "the friend" coming along...just to freeload: free food...drinks...etc. I no longer entertain a party of 3. I've met plenty of chicks who were down to meet me by themselves. To me, any chick who wants to bring a friend is a red flag and/or not normal behavior. If you're not comfortable enough to meet me in a public place and public setting by yourself...we're not going to meet.
